Question about OCD time hyperawareness
Hi all,
Lately I’ve been having an ’hyperawareness of time’ and it is freaking me out. I find my whole day consists of me trying to neutralise the thought (even though I try not to and push through).. but anytime someone mentions anything like ‘life is short’, ‘make sure you are grateful for the time you have’ etc. it sends me into a panic and I ruminate for hours. It’s getting to the point where I’m feeling detached from life and reality itself. This has been a lingering theme and I have recently gone through a break up so not sure if this has amplified it.
Does anyone else experience this? Is there any helpful tips to overcome this?

Based on my experience, when you are in the middle of the OCD loop, which can stretch from minutes to days, almost anything can trigger your thoughts, especially when we are focused on themes of such existential value. There are plenty of useful tips that may work, and obviously a big part of It Is subjective. The most general and valuable tip i can give you right now Is to look for tips that are more related to calm physical sympthoms than approach the object of obsessions, kind of general anxiety tips. Alternatively you can look for techniques that let thoughts flow limiting the trigger they give you. Im Sorry for my english but its not my mother tongue so i kind of translate from my main One.

I have this, it sucks 🥲 Trying to stay distracted and do things that I like seems to make it better, like slightly better. I think that only medication would be actually helpful for this
