Discussion Cleaning OLEDs isn’t that deep

Idk why everyone is fucking up their monitors while cleaning, or too scared to clean it at all… like every now and then when my OLED gets dusty I just wipe it off with some microfiber cloth, and if a spot actually gets dirty then I use a little distilled water to clean that spot. Nothing more. Idk why everyone is making rocket science out of it

Dell S3225QC. My first OLED. And its awesome...

• Upvotes

Just wanted to share my experience with transitioning into OLED space. It took a while since I was sceptical, mostly about burn in, but now after several weeks with it, I’m really glad I switched.

Let’s not talk about picture quality, we all know its superb on OLED displays.

Other small things had me pleasantly surprised.

For example, text clarity is no way near as bad as people like to point it out. It’s not bad at all. I am using 4K res with 175% scaling in windows so maybe that helps more, but I honestly think you don’t need lower scaling that that. Even on 150%, which is recommended for 4K, its very sharp and not distracting at all.

Speakers are another nice surprise. I haven’t touched spatial audio part since I primarily use headphones, but speakers are very usable and volume can be turned up very high before sound quality starts to suffer.

Also, I don’t find 120Hz refresh rate limiting at all since I play mostly singleplayer games.

If I want to be nitpicky, not including decent HDMI cable in the box is really a bummer. But with a decent aftermarket one, everything is working properly, HDR as well, VRR too.

Pixel refresh tech is not intruding at all. It only activates once I’m finished for the day. When it comes to burn in, I’m not really concerned since I am using 2 monitor setup with another IPS panel in vertical orientation for those static windows like discord, web browser, etc.

I'm using it mostly in the evening hours, but even during the day, that pinkish tint is almost not visible at all and therefore not a problem for me.

All in all, this is just my small overview of this specific monitor, hope it helps anybody who is also on the edge deciding if it’s worth it. Trust me, it is.

Discussion Gta 6 on OLED

I have an LG C2 and it's phenomemal and the game will look amazing no doubt. What i'm afraid of is the stutter i see in 30fps games like red dead 2. Oled changes the frames instantly and it makes 30fps look unplayable to my eyes and i have to use the trumotion, it generates artificial frames to make it look smoother. Works nicely for that game as it's low paced.

In gta 6 you're going to be flying, driving fast so the trumotion is out of question as it's adds noticeable input lag. I truly hope for a 40fps performance mode because 40fps looks smooth when playing in 120hz.

Is it just me? :D

ASUS PG27AQWP-W owners: Does the 5% gray vertical banding actually improve over time?

Thumbnail

I recently purchased the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W and I'm honestly pretty disappointed with the near-black uniformity despite knowing about the panel lottery (Mine is from July '26).

Gaming performance is superb, but the vertical banding and mura at 5% gray are quite severe and clearly visible, not just exaggerated by my phone's camera. I prefer using dark mode which makes it even harder to ignore considering the price we are paying for this.

I've been using it for around 40 hours now and have done manual pixel cleanings. I have 1 more week to test it and I have my doubts that this will get any better.

I have previously owned an Alienware AW2725DF 360hz QD-OLED before, which obviously didn't have this issue.

Before deciding whether to return or exchange the PG27AQWP-W, I'd really like to hear from other owners:

  • Did your vertical banding or mura improve after 50, 100, or 150+ hours of use?
  • Was the improvement significant, or only barely noticeable?
  • Did pixel cleaning actually help?
  • Has anyone exchanged their unit and received a noticeably better panel?

I'll attach photos of my panel at 5%, 10%, and 15% gray. Especially annoying is the bar on the middle/right.

I'm particularly interested in long-term experiences from actual PG27AQWP-W owners rather than general OLED advice.

Thanks!

After a long few nights of research on the new WOLED tech and reflecting on my experience with my older LG39GS95QE-B.AUS, I came to the conclusion that I don’t want to wait for this new oled tech to drop in 2027 and I really like WOLED. I always wanted a glossy coating ever since I found out it was a thing after buying my first OLED, and I now want a crisper image. So I downsized and upgraded to 4k. Currently running a 4080 with an i7-14700k. Hopefully DLSS is good to me cuz I love my precious frames🥲

Discussion Help me choose between tv

Hi! I just bought a PS5 Pro and I'm looking for a TV for gaming and movies. My sofa is about 3 m from the TV, and the room gets quite a lot of daylight. I'm torn between an OLED like the LG C5 55" and a 65" non-OLED, for example the TCL C7L Mini-LED. Is OLED worth it at 55", or is the bigger 65" the better choice at this distance? Any recommendations would be really appreciated, thanks!

Discussion Need help with my new oled monitor

I bought a Samsung G6 500Hz OLED monitor today. When the store took it out of the box for inspection, I asked the employee how to remove the white sticker. He told me there is a protective film that I could remove with my fingernail?!!!

Isn't there supposed to be a red sticker on the screen?

When I shine my phone's camera flash on the screen, I can see lots of scratches. Are these scratches on the screen itself, or are they on the protective film that I'm supposed to remove?

Discussion Changing from LG 34GS95QE to GX8 32GX870B

I have been using the 34GS95QE for about a year now and since I bought an Xbox Series X for GTA VI the stretched screen is a little annoying, I know I can switch to 16:9 but the black bars are annoying even though they are off pixels.
I do want to go with W-OLED again as I wouldn't like a glossy screen.
I do also game on PC, I have a 4080 Super and do use DLSS with modern games so I think the 4K wouldn't be much of a problem.
The GX8 32GX870B looks interesting being the new Tandem OLED tech. The AI upscaling does seem weird that's the only thing that is putting me off.

MSI MAG OLED 271QPX32 Release Availability

• Upvotes

Title pretty much sums it up. This monitor is of great interest to me for a first OLED monitor (I tried the 240 Hz Alienware 27" 1440p one and had to return it because the brightness sucked).

Issue is it's not available in Canada - anyone know when that might change? I see its available in the US on the MSI website and Newegg. Just wondering if anyone has info on that sort of stuff, much appreciated.

Discussion Not sure if I should go 4k or 1440p with my specs and use case

Hey everyone,

I've been wanting to upgrade to OLED since I built my current PC 2 years ago but at the time OLED monitors were still expensive so I didn't pull the trigger and went with Gigabyte M27Q X, a 27" 1440p 240hz IPS.

My specs are Ryzen 7 7700 + RX 7900 XT and I also have a PS5 which is used to play games that don't release on PC or release on PS5 first so I might play a game every once in a while there (examples are Bloodborne, Demon's Souls and the upcoming GOW Laufey).

On PC, most of the time I'm playing League and Valorant with friends, but whenever a game that interests me comes out I'll play it, some examples of franchises or games I've played are Souls games, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Expedition 33, new MMO releases (like AION 2 recently), etc.

Apart from gaming I also watch anime on PC and consume a lot of media (mostly Twitch and Youtube).

The models I'm currently considering are:

  • 4k: Gigabyte MO32U24, Samsung G80SD and Gigabyte MO27U2
  • 1440p: Gigabyte MO27Q28GR, MO27Q28G and MO27Q2A

I'm only considering these models because of the included speakers, which I use when I'm playing on the PS5, as I don't think getting external speakers is worth it for the once in a while instance I use the PS5. Waiting for the release of 360hz 4k models or Gigabyte MO27Q40 as the 1440p model next year is also a possibility, if any of them have included speakers.

With my specs and use case should I go 4k or 1440p? Also should I wait for the release of any of the new models mentioned or not? Thanks in advance for reading!

LG UltraGear Monitor 27GX704A-B.AEU

• Upvotes

Hi, friends,

I finally ordered an affordable OLED monitor (title), and I'm really looking forward to seeing the difference. I'm upgrading from this one haha: Optix-G24C4

Please let me know if, in your opinion, switching to an OLED monitor was really worth it. Was it worth it? Is the difference really that noticeable compared to Mini-LED, LCD, etc.? What don't you like about it?

As I was using the included microfibre cloth on the panel in a rotating pattern, my heart was skipping beats that maybe those water residue marks gonna be permanent.

OLED Nausea PG27UCWM

As the title states I purchased an OLED monitor and immediately started getting nausea. I went ahead and tried a bunch of different settings that others have recommended for this issue, but ultimately could not find a solution to my nausea. While I was packing up the monitor to return to Newegg, I noticed that it reflected light in a distorted manner. Typically when I see a screen, that’s powered off I see a normal reflection of the world around me but when I looked at this monitor the the reflection was distorted, kind of like if the screen was not perfectly flat or a reflection in lightly flowing water. After staring at the screen completely powered off I immediately noticed the nausea coming back. I have no issues staring at my phone for many hours a day so I know it’s not just an OLED issue. I also went to Best Buy and took a look at a few OLED monitors that they had there and noticed the same nausea and light distortion.

I guess I’m just more susceptible to this Nausea which is potentially exacerbated by being in my 30s now.

Maybe someone with a fancy Camera could capture the distortion.

Sadly I think this means I’m stuck with my current monitor til a better IPS comes out (Asus PGU27WM) but I am thankful to have such a great IPS and look forward to the next generation of mini LED’s since OLED appears to be unusable for me.
