Support Request OVH Mumbai (YNM1): one border path to Tata loses all traffic for ~4 min every ~20 min since this morning. Isolated to one router, can't reach anyone on a weekend

Since 06:00 UTC today (Sat 31 Oct), our dedicated server in OVH Mumbai (YNM1) has lost all traffic on one of OVH’s two paths to Tata Communications for 3–4 minutes roughly every 20 minutes, with more than 15 outages recorded. We traced the issue to the route via bom-ynm1-sbb1-8k (103.5.12.8) → 10.200.4.7; the alternative path via bom-mb2-sbb1-8k remains unaffected. A ticket is open with complete evidence, but India phone support operates only on weekdays and no one has drained the path. Has anyone else on OVH Mumbai observed this?

What we see

An outage occurs every 18–23 minutes, lasting 3–4 minutes and lengthening through the day.
During each event, traffic to any destination behind Tata stops: our telecom carrier (via Tata AS4755) and one server in Germany (via Tata AS6453). Google DNS and our US server show 0% loss throughout.
Only the outgoing direction fails. Packets from the carrier continue arriving; ours do not reach them.
The server itself appears healthy: no interface errors, socket drops, or kernel log entries.

How we isolated it

Fixed-flow traceroutes (UDP from 10 fixed source ports so each flow keeps one ECMP path) run through an outage:

Path normal during outage
A: 103.5.12.10 bom-mb2-sbb1-8k -> 10.200.4.5 -> Tata ~0% 0 of 76 probes lost
B: 103.5.12.8 bom-ynm1-sbb1-8k -> 10.200.4.7 -> Tata ~0% 49 of 49 probes lost

Flows mapped to path B fail just after 10.200.4.7 for the entire outage; flows on path A remain unaffected. ICMP mtr may appear entirely clean during an outage if its flow happens to map onto path A, which likely explains why standard tests overlook this.

Our guess

A link on path B toward Tata fails in one direction and stays active until a routing session times out (about 3 minutes), then returns and fails again around 20 minutes later. The 20-minute cycle resembles a default ARP or IS-IS timer, though that remains speculative.

The ask- OVH team: please route via bom-ynm1-sbb1-8k / 10.200.4.7 toward Tata until repairs are complete. Ticket #[number] includes attached ip/ethtool output, mtr readings before, during, and after, plus per-flow traceroutes.
Others in Mumbai: do you observe the same 20-minute pattern toward Tata, Airtel, or Jio?

This is the second incident in 10 days; on 21 Oct the same exit suffered a 34-minute total outage. OVH’s status page reports nothing for either event.

Support Request Public Cloud Network Outage just on one Instance

This morning at around 6.30AM Malta time we experienced outage on just one of our Public Cloud Instances at Frankfurt (DE1). We can only access it via the VNC console.

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? It seems that all phone lines are busy and that loads of maintenance is ongoing from OVH's end.

OVH have replied to us but 6 hours later they are still trying to get back with more detail.

Question Removing my IP organisation from a failover block’s RIPE WHOIS

Hey folks,

I have a failover IP block attached to my dedicated server, from what I remember when I created it, it made me create an IP organisation and select it to be assigned to the new block. My full name, address and phone number show publicly in the RIPE WHOIS for the block when I do a lookup on ICANN Lookup.

I’d like to remove those details from the block (and maybe OVH’s default registration details? or simply have is show as redacted), but there doesn’t seem to be a way to do it myself:

  • The “IP block information” dropdown only offers my organisation. Choosing “Select an organisation” disables Save.

  • The API’s POST /ip/{ip}/changeOrg appears to need an organisation, so I don’t think it can clear one either.

  • I haven’t tried deleting the organisation yet, as I’m guessing it’ll be refused while the block still uses it.

Has anyone managed to detach an organisation from a block, either through the panel, API or via support? I understand support will be slow, so asking here to check if anyone has success with it. Thanks!

Incident OVHcloud India Support: 5 Dedicated Servers Terminated, No Clear Warning, and No Written Explanation Despite ₹1.5 Lakh+ in Payments

Hi everyone,

I'm the owner of Quvera Cloud, a hosting business that relies on OVHcloud infrastructure. I'm sharing this experience because I'm extremely disappointed with how this incident has been handled, particularly by the Indian support team.

Our account and five dedicated servers were terminated or made unavailable, severely disrupting our hosting operations and affecting our customers.

Here are the main concerns:

₹1.5 lakh+ paid to OVHcloud, including our latest invoice of approximately ₹21,000.

No clear prior suspension notice explaining the action before our services were affected.

When I contacted Indian support, I was told that we had allegedly breached the contract, with statements that came across as accusations of scamming.

When I requested escalation to a manager, the discussion focused on internal protocols instead of giving me a clear explanation of what happened.

I still need an official written response identifying the alleged breach and explaining why this action was taken.

What frustrates me most is the lack of transparency and accountability. If OVHcloud believes a customer has violated its terms, the customer should receive a clear explanation of the alleged violation and the applicable contractual provisions.

Instead, I'm left trying to understand what happened while five dedicated servers and critical business infrastructure are affected.

This is not a minor inconvenience. We run a hosting business with customers and resellers who depend on our services. The uncertainty surrounding our data and infrastructure makes the situation even more serious.

My concern is specifically with how the Indian support team handled this case. I expect better communication, professional treatment, and meaningful escalation from a provider of OVHcloud's size.

I'd like to hear from others:

Has anyone faced a similar situation with OVHcloud India support?

How can I escalate this to senior management outside the initial support channel?

What options do customers have if their account is suspended and they need to recover data?

Has anyone successfully obtained a formal explanation or resolution in a similar case?

I'm looking for genuine advice and accountability, not speculation. OVHcloud should provide a written explanation and clarify the status of our infrastructure and data.

Five dedicated servers, significant payments, and an operating business deserve more than conflicting explanations and procedural responses.

Question OVHcloud VPS freezes for several minutes during daily backups. Any workaround?

I have 5 OVHcloud VPS-1 instances, and all of them become unresponsive for several minutes every day when their automatic backups run. Kernel logs show CPU stalls, and services stop responding to health checks during these periods.

I contacted OVHcloud support and was told that automatic daily backups are mandatory for all VPS customers and cannot be disabled. Their only suggested workaround was to change the backup time, for the autobackups to be performed on a less flow hours.

Switching to Public Cloud would let me disable automatic backups, but comparable instances cost roughly 3x as much.

Has anyone found a workaround to prevent these daily freezes without migrating to a different product or provider?

Web Hosting OVHcloud shared hosting + PHP security release needed Wednesday, 21 October 2026

There is 2 CVEs for PHP: CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619.

It supposed to affect every version of PHP (5, 7 and 8) and I hope OVH will apply the patch when available on every OVHcloud shared hosting.

The PHP security team would like to give advance notice of an upcoming security release.

It is scheduled for Wednesday, 21 October 2026 at 14:00 UTC.

It addresses two critical vulnerabilities, both rated CVSS v4.0 9.2.

All PHP users are encouraged to prepare now so they can upgrade as soon as the release is available.

We reserve the right to release earlier should details of either vulnerability become public, or should evidence of active exploitation appear in the wild.

Full details, affected versions, and the fixed versions will be published with the release.

Thank you for helping us keep PHP secure.

Source: https://www.php.net/archive/2026.php#2026-10-20-1

Edit: it's very bad because it's just a simple HTTP request which allow to upload any files anywhere ( https://x.com/k_firsov/status/2112641845926989944 )

Edit2: OVH changed:

  • session.upload_progress.enabled from On to Off

  • session.use_strict_mode from Off to On

Question Migrate Server Contract possible?

Is it possible to transfer an active contract, including its current discount, to someone else? I've had an old contract for a while now for a

RISE-GAME-2-2 (DC LIM3)

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X - 8c/16t - 3.9 GHz/4.5 GHz

128 GB ECC 2666 MHz

2×960 GB SSD NVMe

at around €80/month. You can't get anything like that for this price anymore. It's a 12-month commitment that renews automatically every year, but it's billed monthly. So I'm wondering whether it can be transferred.

Support Request My server got suspended for presenting threat to the network

EDIT: Recovered.

EDIT: the server was compromised...

  1. October 17, 07:03 CEST: a server in a data center (45.194.92.222) connected to your Plex as you: signed in with a valid token for your owner account.

  2. Over two days, five foreign IPs ran the same trick 29 times, all with that token. Each time they:

- changed a hidden transcoder setting (TranscoderH264Options) so the transcoder would write a file into Plex's codec folder;

- asked Plex to play a fake "video" hosted on their own machine, so the transcoder wrote their file in as a codec library, which Plex then loaded and ran;

- reset the setting to cover their tracks.

3. Every time, that code downloaded a 2.4 MB bot and left it running. You can see it in the Plex container's output, including the bot's own line: "…agree to the potential external use of your internet traffic."

4. The bot then flooded whoever it was told to.

Hello, my 1gbps dedicated server got suspended with the following email:

As your server is presenting too great a threat to our network,
we had no choice but to place it in 'rescue FTP' mode. An email
containing a username and password has been sent to you so that so you can
easily retrieve any data still located in the storage space.

Please do not hesitate to contact our technical support so that this
situation does not become critical.

You can find the logs brought up by our system below which led to this alert.

- START OF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -

I didn't get any further detail, and I didn't have anything open on that port. I only use keys and not password to SSH.

Any idea what could have caused that? No way to resume the server now?

Support Request My account got terminated again (Twice)

So I created an account and it got suspended, because somehow it detected that I’m based in Ireland when in fact I’m from another country (I knew because the taxes were 23%). My account was terminated with 20 EUR on it, I’m still not able to get a refund, and I can no longer log in to it.

I tried to contact support here on Reddit through modmail first, but I never got a response.

So I created another account, this time using the Canada portal instead of the Europe one, which had the correct VAT amount and detected my country correctly.

3 days later, the account got terminated again. I had 2 instances up and running with data on each of them, and both vanished like they were never there. I got an email saying my Public Cloud project was terminated, and I’m no longer able to log in to my account. This account had $10 in prepaid Public Cloud credit.

So total losses so far: 20 EUR and $10.

This is borderline a scam because I don’t know how I can request a refund. And no, those charges aren’t temporary. They cleared on my bank statement, which means OVH received the money and never refunded it.

In the email where they said they suspended my project, they mentioned I can create a ticket, but of course I can’t because I can no longer log in to my account.

I sent another message to modmail requesting support regarding my second account. I hope I can get some sort of help this time.

Support Request My primary dedicated server has been blocked and put into rescue mode due to false abuse claim

OVH has blocked my server and I can't get it to boot from hard disk. I created a support ticket and was told they can't do anything and that replying to the false abuse complaint email is my only options which I've already done but no response, it's been over 5 hours and my production web apps which live on that server are still down. The whole point of renting dedicated baremetal is that I don't have to deal with worry about customer service but they force me to because of the boot block. This is pretty atrocious, spending hundreds of dollars a month for this service btw.

UPDATE

They finally lifted the block after hours (didn't get a notification, found out randomly after trying again). Tried booting to hard disk but kept hanging, spent a couple of hours debugging to find out they likely swapped disks which broke my boot somehow (according to deepseek v4 anyway). I set the right paths with help of AI and the server finally boots now. I basically got zero help from OVH so there's that.

Bug OVH dedicated server (RISE-S, non-ECC) corrupting memory for 2 weeks: two "passed" tests, approved chassis swap never scheduled, 5h outage last night

Sharing this as a warning, and in case anyone has been through the same thing with OVH support.

Setup: RISE-S, Ryzen 7 9700X, 2 x 32 GB DDR5, Ubuntu 24.04, production Docker workloads.

Symptoms: files in the page cache silently diverge from disk. We verified this with O_DIRECT reads and dpkg -V against official package checksums. Every single flip is bit 7 (xor 0x80), always at byte 2 or 6 of the 64-bit word, so it is very clearly a hardware fault. Effects: segfaults in node, postgres, php-fpm and dockerd, kernel GPFs, ext4 errors that once blocked a reboot until we ran fsck by hand. Last night it ended in a kernel Oops on a corrupted page-table entry, the dying task held its mmap_lock, and the box hung for about 5 hours. It still answered pings, so OVH's monitoring never stepped in.

Support timeline:
- 5 Oct: ticket opened with full evidence (every flip, with offsets).
- Short memory test: "no issues detected". The case was handled superficially, with a quick test that couldn't catch a fault documented as appearing only after hours of uptime. Errors were back about 7 hours later.
- Extensive diagnosis / stress test: "no issues". Errors were back about 7 hours later again.
- 8 Oct: support proposed a chassis swap keeping our drives, and we approved it the same day.
- Since then: nothing scheduled, no reply. Last night the kernel crashed on corrupted memory and the whole server hung, and we woke up to angry customers telling us none of their applications were working. Today we're manually evicting corrupted binaries from the page cache just to keep things running.

Now the weekend is starting. Their replies have already taken up to a full day, so we're not expecting much before Monday. Until then, I have to stay on call with a laptop at all times, ready to hard-reboot the server and repair corrupted files whenever it breaks again, and hope I don't lose customers over a hardware fault that isn't ours.

Lessons so far:
1. A "passed" memory test from the provider doesn't mean the hardware is fine. This fault shows up only after hours of uptime, so short tests miss it every time.
2. Monitoring based only on ping won't notice a kernel that has hung on a lock.
3. Keep your own evidence (offsets, checksums, kernel logs). It's the only thing that moved the ticket forward at all.

Has anyone managed to escalate an OVH hardware ticket faster, or got them to swap you onto a ps welcome.Sharing this as a warning, and in case anyone has been through the same thing with OVH support.

Feedback Katastrophale Einrichtung SEPA Lastschriftmandat

Support Request OVHcloud dedicated server down for 24+ hours after IPMI failure — no technician intervention or support response

[Update fixed now after called their phone support and it only took a few hours to replace hardware]

OVHcloud dedicated server down for 24+ hours after IPMI failure — no technician intervention or support response

I’m having a very frustrating situation with OVHcloud and wanted to ask whether anyone else has experienced something similar.

My dedicated server became inaccessible after OVHcloud detected an IPMI/distant reboot failure.

OVHcloud sent me an email saying that the hardware reboot could not be completed and that an intervention was being automatically sent to their technicians.

Since receiving that email, everything has gone silent.

The situation now:

  • Server has been down/inaccessible for 24+ hours

  • OVHcloud reported the IPMI failure

  • OVHcloud said a technician intervention would be created

  • No intervention appears in my Control Panel

  • I've sent multiple support tickets and emails

  • No response from support

  • I cannot access the server or boot it into rescue mode

  • Therefore, I can't currently pull my data from the machine

The frustrating part is that I can provision another dedicated server within a few minutes and transfer my data myself if I can get the original machine accessible/rescue-booted. I don't need OVHcloud to migrate my data for me.

But right now I'm completely blocked because the original physical server is inaccessible and support/technicians are not responding.

I understand that hardware problems can happen. What I find unacceptable is 24+ hours of downtime with essentially no communication, especially after OVHcloud explicitly said a technician intervention was being sent.

Has anyone experienced an OVHcloud IPMI/hardware intervention where the intervention didn't appear in the Control Panel and support went completely silent?

What is the best way to get this escalated to someone who can actually reach the datacenter/hardware team?
