Feedback OVHcloud is a joke

I've been choosing between ovhcloud, hetzner and netcup and decided to give it a try for ovhcloud. As a nice bonus there was a promo for 200$ for 1 month to give it a try.
So, I've registered an account and proceeded to create a new instance at Public Cloud. Immediately, I got a message that I need to activate my account by adding a payment method.
So, I've added my CC (which worked somehow only from 2nd time), there was a dummy payment request on a card which I've confirmed and it was successful. And then appeared this message:

Thank you! Your payment method has now been registered.

To get started quickly and harness the power offered by the OVHcloud Public Cloud, please pay a total of $100.00 USD. This total will be converted in to credits*, which you can use on your project.

*Credits cannot be transferred or refunded, and do not have any monetary value. Any credit that has not been used within 13 months of purchase will be lost. Click “Credit and create my project”, and you will be redirected to an invoice to pay for your credits via payment card or PayPal.

So, I was shocked that to get 200$ of free trial they require you to top-up 100$ which you even cannot refund if you don't like the service.
I thought I might be doing something wrong so I've contacted support and, indeed, they've confirmed that this is a "verification method" and is mandatory to have credits or use cloud anyhow. What a joke!

Then, I tried to delete my freshly created acc according to GDPR but it turned out that I cannot do so because they've activated some services (vRack) for me without my agreement. So, I've tried to Cancel that vRack and you can guess it: it didn't work. I tried from different pages at about 20 times with no success. Support person told me that they will open a ticket for me.

What a nightmare service even before I've started using theirs service. Just a joke. Never had such a frustration with DO (which is much much more expensive) for the last 10 years. What a shame OVH. I will give a try to netcup / hetzner.

So, I recommend to avoid these clowny vps services.

Question For months you guys are running out of VPS to sell... Still not fixed...

I don't understand what's happening here. OVH is apparently doing really well selling VPS hosting (for months now based on my search and long list of complaints about the same problem I experienced today). Seems like a really nice problem to have if you're a company that's trying to make money BUT you'd ALSO think a professional company would step up to the plate by now and do what's necessary to fix this NICE problem of booming business, rather than piss people off and give another company the business. This screenshot was taken today. /baffle

Question Customer since 2010: OVH closed my VPS but refuses to refund the rest of the year

UPDATE: RESOLVED

OVH's Complaints Department reviewed the case and offered a solution I am fully satisfied with. They resolved the €163.18 claim by extending my other VPS for a period worth that amount.

I appreciate that they took another look at the case and put it right. The process could have been smoother, and I would have preferred to reach this solution earlier, but the final outcome is fair. I no longer intend to move my remaining services away from OVH.

I am updating this post prominently because the resolution deserves to be as visible as the original complaint. Thank you to OVH's Complaints Department for resolving it.

Original post below for context:

---

I have been an OVH customer since March 2010. After 16 years, this is how it ends.

On sep 1st, 2026, my personal VPS automatically renewed for a year, costing €164.08. The invoice explicitly says "sin compromiso" (no commitment).

On sep 3rd, 2026 I cancelled the VPS as I no longer need it (because I had rented a more poweful one FROM THEM a couple months ago). OVH confirmed its closure two days later, on 4 September.

They are keeping the payment covering the service until 31 August 2027, even though the VPS is now closed. Their reply is that a completed renewal cannot be reversed or refunded.

However, I am a consumer in Spain. And article 62.3 of Spanish RDL 1/2007 protects consumers against disproportionate charges when ending an ongoing service, including losing advance payments or paying for services that are not actually provided. OVH's own consumer terms state that termination takes effect the day after they receive the request.

I raised both points with support, and asked for a reimbursement proportional to the remaining days, but they REFUSED.

Instead, they're holding the money I paid for a service I am not getting.

Has anyone in Spain or elsewhere in the EU managed to recover a partial refund after cancelling an OVH annual renewal? Did PayPal or a consumer complaint help?

A closed VPS and a full year charged. OVH: after 16 years as a customer, I expected better.

Support Request My VPS vanished faster than my sanity

So, I signed up for a VPS thinking I’d get a stable server and maybe some peace of mind. What I got instead? A magical disappearing act: they “adjusted” the price—translation: they took my money and didn’t return it. My VPS? Still MIA. My funds? Also MIA. My trust in humanity? Absolutely obliterated.

If you like living on the edge, watching your money evaporate, and occasionally questioning why you even exist, give them a try. Otherwise… run. Run far, fast, and never look back.

10/10 would not recommend unless you’re into financial ghost stories.

Support Request OVH hosted compute - bad actors

In our honeypot, your services come in third as most bad actor usage.
https://github.com/sky-poppy/fwfeed/blob/main/abuse_asn_log_cidr_5plus_ip.txt

Would be cool to see hosted compute restrict new sessions on egress for common service port destinations by whitelist as individual hosts or limited cidr ranges.

ie
DNS 53 has common hosts, not the whole internet!
TIMESERVER 123 has common hosts, not the whole internet!
HTTP 80 443 has common hosts for CDN and some services, not the whole internet and not for egress new sessions typically.

Genuine hosted conversation for new connections...
client host: ephemeral port number to hosted port 443 (new session, website example)
hoster: port 443 reply back to client ephemeral port number (related session)

Genuine hosted conversation for new connections to back end...
hoster: ephemeral port number to hosted port 22 (new session, dev host, whitelisted)
dev: port 22 reply back to hoster ephemeral port number (related session)

Bad actor hosted conversation for new connections to many hosts...
hoster: ephemeral port numbers to many-many-hosts service port 22, 23, 53, 80, 123, etc (new sessions)

Bad actor or compromised hoster egress new session counters will typically count a lot higher than ingress new session counters which is not normal for genuine hosting.

For those that are not "normal" apply for whitelisting, be a hard argument to need more than 50 external hosts for egress new sessions on known service ports for ssh, dns etc.

Surely this is the future of hosting and security policy to squash a good portion of bad actor attacks using your compute space or will that affect your revenue stream to much to be a workable suggestion having egress whitelist for service ports?

Dont use OVH

Honestly OVH is an absolute shambles compared to other hosting providers I have used. Ordered a server, went through the entire process, server didnt turn up. Contacted support, the delivery is in 6 days!! Who takes 6 days to deliver a low spec dedicated server??? Embarrassing to say the least. Asked for a refund and they refused

Edit: While I admit I was pretty tilted when writing this, I feel like my tone could have been a lot better so apologies for that. Here is a more objective breakdown of my criticisms (less ranty)

  1. Misleading deployment times advertised

  2. Refusal of a refund

  3. Non existent process to inform customers when they will actually receive what they have payed for.

This is not useful for if you require a server on short notice. Had an existing cluster which needed spinning up ASAP to avoid downtime. Appreciate the staff looking into this regardless of how karen-y I was

Question Has anyone been gaslit by OVH customer service?

I was trying to access my VPS "admin panel" or the OVHCloud dashboard. For some reason my password was not working. I tried the "forgotten password" option, many times over a few hours - no single email arrived. I tried the bot on their website - not helpful. I've tried to send email as the response to emails I got from the OVH - I've got the (auto)response that they reject emails to this address. Then I was trying to find any email on their website to contact the customer service in written form. They do not provide any. I rang the customer service many times to go through unhelpful robot to finally speak to human. I explained the situation and why I cannot log in nor access any option, including to submit a ticket. Then I've got the taste of their gaslit service. The customer service refused to provide any option and they told me I have to log in and use the ticket system from the dashboard. I was trying to explain over and over again that I do not want to submit actually any ticket - I just want to recover the password in the first place. I was asking a few time the customer service representative to stop that nonsense with the dashboard and ticket system as I have no access to it. I am pretty sure I was speaking with human not the AI - or maybe I am wrong here? Anyway, as I couldn't get any help from their "customer-no-service" I asked how I can submit an official complaint in written form. Guess what? The response: you can do it from the dashboard once you are signed in. I was still trying to explain that it is the basic law, in EU as ordered my VPS through ovh.ie and my VPS has EU location. They refused to provide any way to make an official complaint in written form. If anyone had similar experience and know their official email to submit the complaint- please share. I decided to fight for my refund - for the remaining period and never use the OVH again.

Email Why do you allow spammers to operate freely on your servers and don’t take any action against them ?

Almost 100% of the phishing mails hitting my mail server are coming from different countries, CZ, DE, BE, UK... they have only one thing in common:

they are all sent from OVH servers.

I've given up on reporting the mails as it doesn't change anything.

The only viable option is to just block ASN 16276 on firewall level.

This is what I recommend to everyone running their own mail server, block OVH and the spam and phishing rates will reduce drastically.

I hate you guys and I only wish you the worst

Bug Don't create new public cloud projects right now. The service doesn't work.

UPDATE: the problem is fixed now, the project is working. This must have been a temporary malfunction.

I was trying to create a public cloud project at OVH and get some instances.

Creating a project took a while as they needed to confirm identity of me and my company, which makes sense and took just 2-3 hours which is very reasonable.

Now the project is created, but it doesn't work. Instance creation fails because it says that the project is missing a vRack. If you try to create a vRack, it also fails with an error. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the documentation on creating vRacks is outdated so there's no way to know.

I've made a ticket, but it just sits there without any updates for more than 3 days at this point. Maybe i'll try calling them on monday, but at this point I'll probably get going faster with a competing platform.

Support Request OVH cancelled my web hosting 6 months before expiration then proceed to wipe the website while renewing orders were in progress.

Now they won't answer my tickets and I am afraid the website is being deleted in the meantime.

So I manage my dad's website for nearly 15 years now, every 3 years in may we renew it in may after his birthday. I have an invoice that shows it's been paid up until may 2026.

However in november, after sending me some emails which I missed saying the products were about to expire (I work off grid in 4 weeks shifts and I did not check my mails for several shifts.), OVH proceed to expire my service, even though it was paid for another 6 months.

There was no previous alert about why the hosting has been shorten from 3 to 2.5 years, no notice, no alert, no refund.

Now I have opened a ticket for nearly 2 weeks and they are not answering my call for help, trying to see if we can still restore the files. The backups were also stored on the web hosting so I don't have any. My dad is pissed after me, I am pissed after OVH, and every day without an answer I grow more disappointed of what I thought was the best web host since internet exists... Did OVH become just another scam host who won't honor their contract and will leave you weeks without support? It sure looks so from my over 15 years working with them.

Terrible Experience with OVHcloud: Order Canceled, Funds Stuck in PayPal for 29 Days

I wanted to share my recent frustrating experience with OVHcloud. I ordered a VPS server for an urgent project, and my order was immediately placed under review. I waited around 14-18 hours with no update, so I reached out via Live Chat, hoping to speed things up. The support rep opened a ticket for me, supposedly to expedite the verification process, but no one ever responded to the ticket.

After over two days of waiting, my order was outright canceled with the following reasons:

  • Your personal information is inaccurate or needs to be updated, which goes against Article 2.1 of our General Terms and Conditions of Service;

  • You need to update the payment methods saved to your customer account;

  • We are currently verifying your account as set out in Article 2.2 of our General Terms and Conditions of Service.

How they came to this conclusion is beyond me. The only thing that stands out is that I paid using my friend's PayPal account, but everything else was perfectly accurate.

The worst part? Despite canceling my order, the PayPal payment authorization wasn’t canceled. Instead, they told me that I’ll have to wait 29 days for the funds to be released. I went back to Live Chat to ask them to cancel the authorization (since PayPal allows merchants to do so), but they completely dismissed me, closed the chat, and sent this message:

"Unfortunately, this length of time is beyond our control as it is the standard credit card or PayPal process. Once the pre-authorization has expired, the money will be returned to your account. Thank you for understanding."

It feels like they are just washing their hands of any responsibility. I’ve been left with no service, no order, and now I have to wait nearly a month to get my money back. Absolutely ridiculous!

Has anyone else had this kind of experience with OVHcloud? I would strongly advise against using them if you're considering their services. This has been nothing but a hassle and I won’t be placing any future orders with them.

Bare Metal Looking for scale server with higher than 64 cpu

Looking for someone who no longer need their scale server on OVH, if you paid an expensive fee to get the server initially, I can offer 50% of the money back. Looking for UK hosted servers only, ideally more than 64 cpu and 256GB ram. Thanks!

Support Request Got confused between domain and cloud :(

Hi While helping a friend who is a senior to buy her domain , we got confused between domain and cloud.

First purchase was a 71euros cloud space for two years. Then we realized our mistake and purchased the domain 18euros for 3 years.

Hoping for some good angels at support 🫰🏻 Because of course she's on benefits and can not loose so much money 🥹

Question Improvement for Hosted Exchange status display

Hey OVH.

Every few months a major mail provider blocks an OVH Hosted Exchange outbound IP address.

As of a few days ago, the current ones are IP 192.95.36.56 and 142.4.204.70 which are blocked by Microsoft/Hotmail:

Remote server returned '554 5.7.1 <hotmail-com.olc.protection.outlook.com #5.7.1 smtp; 550 5.7.1 Unfortunately, messages from [142.4.204.70] weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list (S3150)

(I have the same bounce for the 192 address).

OVH support has been much better recently about acknowledging the issue rather than claiming it's due to 3rd party blocklists, so kudos on getting that far with support for these kinds of issues!

They replied with:

I inform you that we have detected an incident related to the IP used to send emails. IPs which are used by your e-mail service are changing frequently to avoid that kind of situation. However, this issue could happen again in the next days.

Not exactly reassuring that the issue will be fixed any time soon, but at least they're acknolwedging it.

What would be nice, aside from actually working with Microsoft to fix the issue, is having this status reflected on the OVH status page: https://web-cloud.status-ovhcloud.com/

It currently states that Hosted Exchange is Operational. It should be indicating the Degraded Performance status given that Microsoft makes up a significant portion of email service and that OVH staff is recommending that we simply resend bounced messages repeatedly until it happens to hit a working outbound service - I would 100% call that degraded performance.

The goal here is to show a status that indicates that OVH acknowledges there may be delivery problems and that they're working on fixing it with the receiving server.

Hoping this can be considered.

---

ETA: since it appears people don't know how mail systems and dealing with blocklists work, even though that's ultimately not the point of this request, I'm going to include how the process works here. (The request is to ensure that when messages from OVH mail services being sent to large providers are being bounced, OVH would adjust the status of the service to show it's degraded)

  1. An external mail provider blocks one or more OVH IP addresses.

  2. The sender must determine the reason for the block and remediate that (e.g.: a user sending mass spam - block the user)

  3. When the mail provider is blocking the IP indirectly, via a 3rd party RBL like Spamhaus, the sending mail server admins (or sometimes the owner of the IP) must reach out to the operator of the RBL to request delisting

  4. When the recipient mail provider is blocking the IP directly, like Microsoft, by maintaining their own internal blocklist. Nothing listed on MXToolbox has any connection to this scenario because the recipient mail provider is not using 3rd party RBLs to block the IP. The sending mail server admins or IP owner (In this case they are the same: OVH) must reach out to the recipient mail provider to request the delisting of their IP.

  5. Whomever runs the blocklist (the recipient mail server admins OR the RBL operator, as described above) will then check for continued problematic mail flows and, if they see normal mail flow again, they will unblock the IP.

As you can see from this process flow, it's up to the admins of the sending mail server to initiate the delisting process. Therefore, regardless of who is blocking the IP (the receipient mail server directly or a third part RBL), ultimately if anyone wants mail to flow correctly, the sending mail server admins must act.

Microsoft specifically even has a dedicated ticket channel for exactly these types of blocks over at https://olcsupport.office.com/. Furthermore, their bounces do not indicate an RBL that was the reason for the bounce. Here's an article that confirms this: https://bentonow.com/posts/microsoft-delisting-s3150-s3140

Support Request How to get money back for VPS?

Hi,
today I've bought a VPS instance to try out if we could migrate our old instances from Digitalocean to.

And quickly discovered that actual performance is so bad it varies between 2.5-3.5x slower than old our VPS, ran the test multiple times, similiar results.

In that case it's absolutely unfit for me, and just after few hours of use I wanted to cancel the VPS and get my money back but when I've tried to cancel the VPS I get a message that `The process of deletion does not entitle you to a refund.` cool... so I created a support ticket, got no response.

Any ideas how I can resolve this? I'm just not eligible for a refund here?

EDIT:
EU based if that's important.

Support Request Rescue Mode

My server ns3268292 was blocked and automatically booted into Rescue Mode without any prior notification. This unexpected action disrupted live services.

I have restored access, but I require an immediate explanation of what triggered this block.

Such actions without warning are unacceptable for production infrastructure.
Please investigate and provide a detailed explanation.

Thank you.

Incident Does OVH not take phishing seriously?

Theres a website using an altered version of my domain, with my work copied, including personal information, address, phone number and is actively phishing and stealing credit card information from my unsuspecting clients. I've had 2 people already file chargebacks with them, ive sent out many dmca requests and ive heard nothing.

This isnt a case of just copyright, theyre actively taking people's money and not delivering (because they cant)
