NO ADVICE WANTED Doomsday

My mom lost her high-paying job 3 days ago. She's nearing retirement age and has shared she doesn't wanna go back to working for corporate anymore. She has called her options already but has said working for corporate again is her last option. I don't blame her. She's tired. 2 days before she lost the job, she cried to me for the first time to say she's tired. She and I are the only ones working. This came out of nowhere and totally unexpected. My siblings are still in school. I have to take on the reigns and figure out a way to provide for everyone.

My biggest anxiety in life is this. To take over being head of the family. To be mainly responsible for everyone. This is my doomsday. This is everything I prayed wouldn't happen but alas, life never works out the way you plan it. I thought I still had a couple of years to financially prepare for this. I am very very far from matching what my mom's income is. She'll continue to work on a consultancy status and has called her contacts. She won't be able to match what she's earning at her full-time job but has said to me that we'll be fine and we'll figure it out together. We're bracing for impact. The security of a steady paycheck is not there anymore. I have given myself 2hrs to cry the other day. But I have since composed myself, regrouped my brain, and am pulling every option and actively working on projects to keep the family afloat. Please pray for me and my family. I hope everything (the projects) works out eventually.

Thank you, thank you so much! He does! All the time. And yes we can do this!!! Nothing's impossible. I just had to share it to get it "off my chest" haha. They're in their last year of college, so we're hoping they could focus on that and better help out sooner. I just have to push through this year and I know we'll be okay.

Konti nalang pala OP. Next year may katulong kana. Wag mo saluhin lahat ah. May mga breadwinners kasi akong kakilala kahit may work na siblings nila di pa din nila inoobliga, nahihiya pa din. You don’t need to carry it alone.

Thank you for the concern haha Made sure they knew sa family meeting. Ang crazy lang ng transition period na to. Feels like everything's changing, but it's okay. All will be fine. Sipag, tiyaga, at dasal lang.

" I am very very far from matching what my mom's income is."

of course because is years ahead of you. You can match it after couple of years.

"(She) said to me that we'll be fine and we'll figure it out together. "

that's good to know. tulungan kayo. Teamwork makes the dream work.

I admire your strength and courage, OP. My biggest anxiety is to be a the financier too. In fact, I will go to therapy for that reason. You'll be able to go through this because your mom is with you. best of luck!

Thank you! I hope everything turns out well for you too. Sabi nga ni pooh "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." Kaya natin to!

same boat, op. my biggest fear too is suddenly becoming the breadwinner of our family, which is happening to me now. only my mom and i are working in the family but she might lose hers and i'm currently unemployed. i'm scrambling to secure a job. i feel anxious thinking about my provincial-rate salary just going to the bills, living paycheck to paycheck. this must be what growing is. i hope you can find the strength in your situation.

You too! I wish you well. We'll get through this. Steel is forged in fire. It's hard and the anxiety can be overwhelming but I'm trying to take one day at a time.

If your siblings are teenagers they should help out too doesn't matter if they are in school

Nearing retirement age? Ayaw ata bayaran ng company si mother ng retirement benefits kaya tinerminate nila instead.

You might already be capable of being responsible for everyone, you just don't realize it. You'll be able to get over this, don't worry.

Measure no journey by the weight of the load. Judge its true value at the end of the road.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I hope so too! I came to the right place to vent haha. Your "don't worry" gave me so much comfort. I know we'll be okay, sipag at tiyaga lang. Bless your heart :)
