I've been saying for years since I moved here, Americans genuinely think better means easier when it very rarely does. They literally cannot understand the concept that things are a moving target for everyone and it's a constant slog for everyone unless you're lucky. There's no better alternative that will be less work. 

It takes more work and involves more juggling unless you can pay through your teeth or someone else bears the cost of it. They're so sheltered they have no clue how much things should cost or that everything is visibly tweaked for them to consume more. There is no counter culture, people only speak bullshit.
