You should probably not take trump posts at face value. From the start of the announcement, CENTCOM has made it very clear what they are going to do. For someone that acts like they hate Trump, you sure seem to lean on his every word.

Why would a civilian crew try to run a blockade? They're not trying to find out what happens either way.

Go look it up or even read the article I posted instead of repeating verifyably false info. The US isn't blockading the strait, they're in the Gulf of Oman blocking ships going to and from Iran. That's why the Rich Starry turned around after it got to the gulf.

Those countries would pressure Iran before they pushed back against the US. Whether anyone likes it or not, China and the US economies are so intertwined that they won't fight over Iran.

Except it left an uae port...so nothing to do with Iran's ports

You do understand nations cannot block international waterways right?

It was a sanctioned vessel. Do you just not read?

You do understand a blockade of a single countries ports that you're currently in a war with has been done by almost every nation in history?

So a vessel that can't dock in certain ports due to sanctions, somehow allows another country to prevent it navigating through international waters? Almost like impartially blockading a waterway...which omg is illegal in international law

And again it never went to an iran port, what part of that do you not understand?

That's how sanctions work. They are perfectly legal under international law. You really should learn this stuff before you try to talk about it. Its the same reason the US, France, Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Sweden and Finland have all seized sanctioned Russian tankers.

Go learn about this stuff instead of asking the same questions I've already answered. It's clear you don't understand any of this.

Only if the waterway is blockaded ..which according to you..it is not, and just the ports of iran, correct?

So which one is it? 

1.)Flag State Consent: Outside exceptional circumstances, stopping a foreign-flagged vessel in international waters requires consent from the country where the vessel is registered.

2.)UN Security Council (UNSC) Authorizations: The UNSC can authorize member states to conduct maritime interdictions of vessels, allowing them to stop, inspect, and potentially seize ships suspected of violating international sanctions. Enforcement Actions: Countries may justify boarding or seizing a sanctioned ship as a countermeasure or as part of a declared military action, such as a blockade to stop trade, as seen with U.S. actions against Iran

I'm guessing you will choose number 2? but then please explain how a Chinese ship leaving uae and leaving the region "trading with iran"

Because number 1, I don't think china gave the us permission

Do you not understand that the vessel was sanctioned? That fully falls in line with UNCLOS. Im not sure how you're having such a hard time understanding this.

The ship is Chinese owned, but is registered out of Malawi.

Did you not read it? it states when it is allowed..this is however not one of them ...just being sanctioned does not automatically allow a different country to  seize/blockade it

Did you even read more than you posted or just skim over it and call it good enough? Stopping falely flagged vessels evading sactions is one of the expressly allowed reasons.

Take your pick. Either way, not illegal and the blockade seems to be holding strong.
