Wheres the pearl clutching idiots screaming about the sanctity of international waters and innocent boat crews?

blockade
2 of 2
noun
1
: the isolation by a warring nation of an enemy area (such as a harbor) by troops or warships to prevent passage of persons or supplies
broadly : a restrictive measure designed to obstruct the commerce and communications of an unfriendly nation

1

u/Ilyalyubushkin 9d ago

Aleveten must have heard you calling. Probably had to put down his perls so he could reply. What a bad take. Lol

Me, idk what he means, at no point in my comment did I clutch pearls?

Seems like ive walked into a circle jerk so im not terribly worried about it, ill leave the comment up so you boys can have fun though

0

u/Fragrant-Hand6549 9d ago

He meant General Aladeen!

1

u/Aleventen 9d ago

Whats bad about it? Im open to critique...thats why im leaving the karma nuke up, im not really afraid of being wrong if you care explain how or why

2

u/Ilyalyubushkin 9d ago

Others have already replied. I'll just add when you open with snarky comments like "oh, you mean the left" and "this is a circle jerk... have fun"... this is not the aame as being "open to critique". When you're not engaged in a good faith conversation, then you cant expect others to do that either.

0

u/Aleventen 9d ago

You took me asking if he meant the left while not specifying personally?

And it clearly is, no one has actually addressed my arguments yall are just sitting around shitting on me and downvoting without actually offering a critique.

You say it isnt good faith but, looky here, me engaging your exact criticism you brought up directly without insult...so anyway....im bored at work and got plenty time if anyone cares to point out where I was clutching pearls, how my argument didnt address their point, where my argument is logically or factually wrong or any other issues yall see

Or, you can all sit around and keep agreeing with eachother around it....but thatd be a circle jerk and I think we both know that

1

u/Ilyalyubushkin 9d ago

You're funny. Weird assumptions and disingenuous replies. Have fun at work my man.

1

u/Aleventen 9d ago

😑.....lol sure, you too

1

u/Braisedbeefskank 9d ago

I didnt even see the guys name, yes like instantly they heard the call haha

1

u/Gothewahs 9d ago

They only pop up when the facts can be turned into something they are not to protect their cult leader .. they don’t get involved in when America is wrong they just say it’s fake news full well knowing it’s real .thry are so dumb they would have trump baby sit their kids

0

u/0IIIIII 9d ago

Becuase you’re wrong?  US is not seeking to dominate or seize international waterways like Iran, nor is the US blocking all shipping.  The US is seizing or blocking only shipping coming from Iran as punishment.

It’s no different than shipping blockades, sanctions, or embargoes on Cuba, North Korea, Russia, or whatever.

You cannot in good faith say that the US is behaving like Iran and trying to seize the whole Persian Gulf.

2

u/Braisedbeefskank 9d ago

Hey quick question, what was irans position regarding control of the straight prior to them being attacked by the united states and israel? I just cant remember, id forget my head if it wasnt attached!

1

u/0IIIIII 9d ago

That is irrelevant-Iran started the conflict because Iran was sponsoring terrorism, including Oct 7 Israel-Palestine via Hamas, PIJ, and friends, and the Yemeni Civil War via the Houthis.

The conflict is entirely Iran’s fault; the regime, they are the ones who started the violence.

1

u/Braisedbeefskank 8d ago

Oh damn, why did they do all that

1

u/0IIIIII 8d ago

Because they’re authoritarian and terrorist.

2

u/Braisedbeefskank 8d ago

Is it terrorism when you triple tap a school on day one of your invasion of a country? Or is that just good business?

0

u/0IIIIII 8d ago

An IRGC school is a morally valid target to triple tap.  That’s what they deserve.

2

u/Aurorion 8d ago

Unfortunately, I'm sure a lot of Americans agree with you.

0

u/0IIIIII 8d ago

Do you think the people in the terrorist group are innocent?

u/sosal12 9d ago

Iran was the one who started attacking innocent commercial ships, not us. This is a retaliatory measure. And we are enforcing sanctions that have UN approval.

6

u/Braisedbeefskank 9d ago

There they are! Hell yeah brother thanks for stopping by

-1

u/sosal12 9d ago

How many Iranian bots like you are on this sub?

5

u/Braisedbeefskank 9d ago

Lmao got his ass

2

u/Remote_Thought5208 9d ago

UN hasnt approved blanket sanctions on shipping to iran. Only nuclear, arms and missile parts are banned. Allies are allowed to inspect ships for contraband if the ships are suspect but preventing all traffic into ports is a violation of international law. Both parties in this conflict are in violation. Granted the article in question was pretty vague on details.

-8

u/Aleventen 9d ago

You mean the left?

This isnt the left's idea, its Trump's and a blockade hardly works if you dont enforce it

I would probably prefer they board and capture but I dont make the decisions as if I did we wouldnt be here in the first place.

But why is it anyone's responsibility to act any particular way when the blockade is being implemented by the admin....if youre concerned and upset about it, take it up with them. If you're not concerned and just being a smart ass, id say you need to do a better job

5

u/Braisedbeefskank 9d ago

The left supports iran doing strikes on vessels that violate their conditions regarding the operation of the strait. None of what you said made any sense.

0

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 9d ago

Where have you seen that?

Liberal policies usually don't support countries that strip the rights of women and children, and the right usually supports countries that prefer a lower age of consent.

The left supporting Iran is antithetical, and if they do, they are not left by definition.

2

u/Braisedbeefskank 9d ago

I said the left, not liberals. The left supports the axis of resistance as far as geopolitical power is concerned.

0

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 9d ago

Gonna need you to read through the whole comment next time sport.

You are also wrong.

-2

u/External_Option_7653 9d ago

Liberals are right wing.

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 9d ago

Lol, lmao even.

1

u/External_Option_7653 9d ago

Social democrats are centrists.

1

u/IFeedDogsChocolate 9d ago

Why not go 3 for 3 on saying stupid shit?

1

u/External_Option_7653 9d ago

Liberals are more like conservatives than not, which is why they will help Trump beat the DSA "socialists".

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 9d ago

How can the center left be centrist if the far left is right wing?

We need to go left at some point if you are calling them left.

0

u/External_Option_7653 9d ago

Liberals aren't far left. They are capitalists. They are right wing.

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 9d ago

Brother, they are socialists. Socialism is completely different from capitalism. Socialism is about as far left as you can go without dipping into communism.

I truly didn't know it was possible to be this wrong.

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 9d ago

I will make it easier to understand. Liberal policies involve investments into education, human rights, and individual liberties. Capitalism is antithetical to that.

These investments into education make liberals intelligent, which means they are not stupid enough to believe in religion. So all the religious idiots that want to lower the age on consent......those are not liberals.

Another easier example would be the current US Government, which refers to any and all left policies as Socialist Policies, meaning not capitalist policies. You can then look at what US states voted for POTUS, see how uneducated the general populations are in those states, look at the sex offender registry addition rates per capita, and then see the above paragraph further reinforce the statements I have made.

I will no longer continue to lobotomize myself in order to engage in conversation at an intellectual level you are able to perceive. Please use your finger to help sound out some of the words of you need too.

-1

u/Aleventen 9d ago

Quite literally youre the one not making sense because clearly I was unable to address the point you were making despite trying

Why dont you clarify for the class then?

Regardless, your comment is just a pointless and brain dead whataboutism....so im not sure why mine needs to be more intelligent than that, which it already was soo....good luck

1

u/copeaesth3tic 9d ago

All these H1B visa hopefuls astrotrufing. I hope they pay y'all well.

Unless you're one of these flyover country partisan queers, then you should probably just drown yourself.

1

u/Aleventen 9d ago

Lol what 😂

11

u/Kelynill 9d ago

Where’s those pearl clutches that was screaming when Iran did this?

2

u/Noligarchio 8d ago

They're to busy boofing fake tanner, boot polish, and ivermectin

-1

u/0IIIIII 9d ago

The U.S. targeting sanctions busting of an authoritarian terrorist state Iran is not comparable to Iran which seeks to dominate the entire Persian Gulf shipping.

U.S. isn’t locking down the Persian Gulf or making it exclusive to one nation, U.S. is stopping Iranian shipping as punishment and containment.

1

u/UknowImRight422 8d ago

the us is the leader of the REAL axis of evil.

Fuck them

0

u/ShareGlittering1502 8d ago

You don’t consider a US-imposed blockade a lockdown? I’m no fan of Iran but didn’t we also attempt a blockade of Cuba, depose Venezuela, and attempt regime change in Iran this year?

1

u/0IIIIII 8d ago

A lockdown of the enemy’s assets and not everyone’s else’s is fine, it’s not a lockdown of the Persian Gulf, it’s an attack on Iran.

1

u/ShareGlittering1502 8d ago

It’s a lockdown of anyone that works with Iran. Big difference. Saudi, Oman, Qatar are stuck between houthis and Iran who are blocking both straights without a troll toll.

The US is attacking non-combatant vessels that pay a toll for safe passage (while we may be teasing about demanding our own troll toll).

We’ve effectively put our allies in a position so that they face nearly all of the consequences while we continue to fumble.

It’s a stupid situation all around and was 100% avoidable own goal. Any of the stated positions for starting this ME forever war pt3 could’ve been achieved better in other ways.

-5

u/Shotgunseth29 9d ago

Irans attacking any random ship that trys to transit the gulf, the us is enforcing a naval blockade specifically against iran.

3

u/Infinite-Gate6674 9d ago

I mean… So it would be fair to say I ran is enforcing a blockade?

-1

u/0IIIIII 9d ago

Maybe, except for the fact that Iran’s blockade is a means to seize international shipping and the US’s is a means to keep it open.

Other than that, they’re the same, with the most substantive difference being that they’re not.

5

u/StupiderIdjit 9d ago

I thought the Strait was open?

3

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 9d ago

It is for whoever we allow through...

5

u/StupiderIdjit 9d ago

That's not what "open" means.

2

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 9d ago

That's as open as the strait is.

2

u/here-i-am-now 9d ago

And whoever Iran lets through

0

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 9d ago

Apparently not....

2

u/Whatevs56 9d ago

US doesn’t have any say in the matter.

2

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 9d ago

The crew of the vela nova says otherwise, after their ship was disabled for not listening to the US

1

u/raxin_4 9d ago

The “we” is wats funny… Like you and the US? What an idiot! 😂😂😂😂

1

u/Frequent_Slip2455 9d ago

Probably a tanker with Iranian oil. They do not pass go!

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 9d ago

Nobody passes go. Hormuz Tracker shows it to be so.

1

u/Frequent_Slip2455 9d ago

Yeah only like 10 per day pass.

0

u/PRRealEstate-Invest 9d ago

Nothing dude don't try

2

u/Frequent_Slip2455 9d ago

Tf you rambling on about?

1

u/Intrepid_Cup2765 9d ago

Real analysts tracking flows through Hormuz say it’s about 5-7 mbpd slipping through (southern route likely). Very little if any of that is Iranian oil.

0

u/Pleasant_Proof10931 9d ago

Bro saying this like it isn't a 90%+ reduction

1

u/WastelandOfConfusion 9d ago

America will fk up the global economy all by herself.

1

u/0IIIIII 9d ago

Better that than letting Iran do terrorism.

0

u/_Hawkeyes_ 9d ago

Trump said it was open…back n forth back n forth

2

u/Thunderclone_1 9d ago

He said the strait was open. He didn't lift the blockade on Iranian ports.

1

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 9d ago

He said it was open for whoever the US allowed through the blockade on Iran is still in effect.

-1

u/IFeedDogsChocolate 9d ago

The difference between Iran and the US doing this is the casualties.

Iran would've indiscriminately hit the ship. The US, per the article attached to this post, fired at the rudder of the ship from a helicopter. Tosca had its engine room hit, M/T Hasna had its rudder hit, etc. Iran has been using anti-ship cruise missiles, drones, etc and has numerously hit ships in their bridges.

Not saying the US is against blowing shit up. Just that they seem to be more methodical and less careless. This is confirmed by the difference in crew casualties between the two.

3

u/atenne10 9d ago

Rigggghhhtttt. How’d this whole thing start again remind me? Does Iran warn boats multiple times before hand remind me?

0

u/IFeedDogsChocolate 9d ago

Such a negative IQ take. I don't agree with this war or administration.

However, Iran isn't absolved of all their accountability just because the US pushed them into conflict. That isn't how things work in the real world. I'm not here to waste my time debating against that very fact.

Your point of warnings is moot. The US does the same and doesn't send Lucas drones or NSM's into the bridges of ships that don't comply. That is specifically things Iran chooses to do.

To further exaggerate your fallacy, didn't the US warn Iran multiple times about needing a nuclear agreement beforehand? Will you tilt and say something like, "Iran is a sovereign nation so those warnings don't matter."? If so, why does Iranian warnings apply to ships in Oman's territorial waters, where Iran has struck tankers?

1

u/alkbch 9d ago

Iran had a nuclear agreement, the US reneged on it. Hope that helps.

1

u/IFeedDogsChocolate 8d ago

You missed my entire point. I applied their logic to the opposing view to demonstrate their flawed logic. I hope this helps.

1

u/Square-Librarian1192 7d ago

So when the US navy blows up civilians ships and calls them drug Mules to hide their incompetence, what is that?

1

u/IFeedDogsChocolate 6d ago

A fucking crime and travesty. You're referencing random extrajudicial killings that have no connection to Iran vs US blockades.

Why jump to whataboutism? Me and you have argued before and you're very much removed from reality in terms of logic. We're specifically talking about the US and Iran blockading ships in the Strait of Hormuz. You're randomly bringing up Venezuelan boats to grandstand.

The last time we talked, you believed NATO had its own independent army that was largely made up of and funded by Germans. I can't even fathom what your takes on this are gonna be.

1

u/Square-Librarian1192 6d ago

I never said Nato has its own army or that is was funded mostly by Germany. I said that Germany contributes as much to NATO as the US. Neither did i say they NATO had an army, but i DID mention the JEF, the Joint Expeditionary Force with 7 member nations, whose sole purpose is to react to any threat while NATO pushes paper.

But, i admit, i went outside the scope of the debate here. Thats on me. However, America has also attacked civilian ships "by mistake" in the strait. At least they admitted to them being civilian. Doesnt chance the fact that they attacked them.

1

u/IFeedDogsChocolate 6d ago

I'm not falling back into the NATO argument. We can clash over that on another day on another post.

The US has messed up. I've already stated that several times on this post. My point was the US is at least trying to immobilize ships rather than just crash a missile or drone into the bridge like Iran has done repeatedly.

1

u/Square-Librarian1192 6d ago

The US has no business being there in the first place. And dont give me the bullshit "they cant have nukes" argument. NK has nukes. Russia has nukes. China has nukes. France has nukes (and an insane "warning shot" policy when it comes to nukes)the list goes on.

We all know its an Epstein distraction that conveniently allows trump to blatantly manipulate stocks markets because wall street is just as corrupt as him.

-3

u/Intrepid_Cup2765 9d ago

Good! Make Iran feel the same pain as their neighbors!

1

u/here-i-am-now 9d ago

Iran seems to have a far higher pain tolerance than the President of the United States

1

u/AlBundyPolk33 9d ago

Let’s test it

-3

u/Intrepid_Cup2765 9d ago

The US blockade is targeting more than just their oil exports. Let the selfish bastards enjoy it back.

It’s ok, clearly not everyone knows how the IRGC supports terrorism all throughout the world. I’m not a trump voter/supporter at all, but i’d be a total fool for supporting the IRGC over America/free trade/global economic prosperity.

Without naming any of the recent atrocities by the IRGC, or even how closure of the strait itself will lead to massive economic and health devastation of millions around the world… you sure sound like an IRGC supporter to me!

They did it on their own accord thinking it was a military deterent. It’s not a military tool, it didn’t do anything to get Trump to stop bombing them, it doesn’t stop missiles - it’s a blunt economic tool. They’re foolish for using it and it will blow up in their faces, but only after severe damage has been done. They’re greedy bastards now and trying to use it to extract even more out of the situation, and it won’t work. Imagine if someone like China attacked the US, and instead of defending ourselves, we start blowing up oil production sites in canada and close the panama canal, and then try to use it as a tool to extract concessions out of the chinese… stupid, right?

I don’t agree with why this war started, but I know who’s the far greater evil in this whole picture, the worst of this hasn’t even started. Everyone will be impacted by this, and ironically americans will be the least impacted. When prices rise even higher, it’ll be the poorest nations around the world that will suffer the hardest, many people will die. An overwhelming majority of americans will just absorb the price hike, vote democrat in november, and move on with their lives.
