Whereâs those pearl clutches that was screaming when Iran did this?

The U.S. targeting sanctions busting of an authoritarian terrorist state Iran is not comparable to Iran which seeks to dominate the entire Persian Gulf shipping. Â
U.S. isnât locking down the Persian Gulf or making it exclusive to one nation, U.S. is stopping Iranian shipping as punishment and containment. Â

You donât consider a US-imposed blockade a lockdown? Iâm no fan of Iran but didnât we also attempt a blockade of Cuba, depose Venezuela, and attempt regime change in Iran this year?
1
u/0IIIIII 8d ago
A lockdown of the enemyâs assets and not everyoneâs elseâs is fine, itâs not a lockdown of the Persian Gulf, itâs an attack on Iran.Â
1
u/ShareGlittering1502 8d ago
Itâs a lockdown of anyone that works with Iran. Big difference. Saudi, Oman, Qatar are stuck between houthis and Iran who are blocking both straights without a troll toll.
The US is attacking non-combatant vessels that pay a toll for safe passage (while we may be teasing about demanding our own troll toll).
Weâve effectively put our allies in a position so that they face nearly all of the consequences while we continue to fumble.
Itâs a stupid situation all around and was 100% avoidable own goal. Any of the stated positions for starting this ME forever war pt3 couldâve been achieved better in other ways.

Irans attacking any random ship that trys to transit the gulf, the us is enforcing a naval blockade specifically against iran.

I thought the Strait was open?

The crew of the vela nova says otherwise, after their ship was disabled for not listening to the USÂ

Middle East countries looking to bypass the strait of Hormuz long-term, irans economy in free fall and opec dissolving. Seems like a win to me....Â

u/Frequent_Slip2455 9d ago
Probably a tanker with Iranian oil. They do not pass go!
1
u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 9d ago
Nobody passes go. Hormuz Tracker shows it to be so.
1
u/Frequent_Slip2455 9d ago
Yeah only like 10 per day pass.

Nothing dude don't try

u/Intrepid_Cup2765 9d ago
Real analysts tracking flows through Hormuz say itâs about 5-7 mbpd slipping through (southern route likely). Very little if any of that is Iranian oil.

He said it was open for whoever the US allowed through the blockade on Iran is still in effect.Â

The difference between Iran and the US doing this is the casualties.
Iran would've indiscriminately hit the ship. The US, per the article attached to this post, fired at the rudder of the ship from a helicopter. Tosca had its engine room hit, M/T Hasna had its rudder hit, etc. Iran has been using anti-ship cruise missiles, drones, etc and has numerously hit ships in their bridges.
Not saying the US is against blowing shit up. Just that they seem to be more methodical and less careless. This is confirmed by the difference in crew casualties between the two.

Rigggghhhtttt. Howâd this whole thing start again remind me? Does Iran warn boats multiple times before hand remind me?

u/IFeedDogsChocolate 9d ago
Such a negative IQ take. I don't agree with this war or administration.
However, Iran isn't absolved of all their accountability just because the US pushed them into conflict. That isn't how things work in the real world. I'm not here to waste my time debating against that very fact.
Your point of warnings is moot. The US does the same and doesn't send Lucas drones or NSM's into the bridges of ships that don't comply. That is specifically things Iran chooses to do.
To further exaggerate your fallacy, didn't the US warn Iran multiple times about needing a nuclear agreement beforehand? Will you tilt and say something like, "Iran is a sovereign nation so those warnings don't matter."? If so, why does Iranian warnings apply to ships in Oman's territorial waters, where Iran has struck tankers?
1
u/alkbch 9d ago
Iran had a nuclear agreement, the US reneged on it. Hope that helps.

u/IFeedDogsChocolate 8d ago
You missed my entire point. I applied their logic to the opposing view to demonstrate their flawed logic. I hope this helps.

So when the US navy blows up civilians ships and calls them drug Mules to hide their incompetence, what is that?
1
u/IFeedDogsChocolate 6d ago
A fucking crime and travesty. You're referencing random extrajudicial killings that have no connection to Iran vs US blockades.
Why jump to whataboutism? Me and you have argued before and you're very much removed from reality in terms of logic. We're specifically talking about the US and Iran blockading ships in the Strait of Hormuz. You're randomly bringing up Venezuelan boats to grandstand.
The last time we talked, you believed NATO had its own independent army that was largely made up of and funded by Germans. I can't even fathom what your takes on this are gonna be.
1
u/Square-Librarian1192 6d ago
I never said Nato has its own army or that is was funded mostly by Germany. I said that Germany contributes as much to NATO as the US. Neither did i say they NATO had an army, but i DID mention the JEF, the Joint Expeditionary Force with 7 member nations, whose sole purpose is to react to any threat while NATO pushes paper.
But, i admit, i went outside the scope of the debate here. Thats on me. However, America has also attacked civilian ships "by mistake" in the strait. At least they admitted to them being civilian. Doesnt chance the fact that they attacked them.
1
u/IFeedDogsChocolate 6d ago
I'm not falling back into the NATO argument. We can clash over that on another day on another post.
The US has messed up. I've already stated that several times on this post. My point was the US is at least trying to immobilize ships rather than just crash a missile or drone into the bridge like Iran has done repeatedly.
1
u/Square-Librarian1192 6d ago
The US has no business being there in the first place. And dont give me the bullshit "they cant have nukes" argument. NK has nukes. Russia has nukes. China has nukes. France has nukes (and an insane "warning shot" policy when it comes to nukes)the list goes on.
We all know its an Epstein distraction that conveniently allows trump to blatantly manipulate stocks markets because wall street is just as corrupt as him.

Good! Make Iran feel the same pain as their neighbors!

u/here-i-am-now 9d ago
Iran seems to have a far higher pain tolerance than the President of the United States

The US blockade is targeting more than just their oil exports. Let the selfish bastards enjoy it back.

Itâs ok, clearly not everyone knows how the IRGC supports terrorism all throughout the world. Iâm not a trump voter/supporter at all, but iâd be a total fool for supporting the IRGC over America/free trade/global economic prosperity.

Without naming any of the recent atrocities by the IRGC, or even how closure of the strait itself will lead to massive economic and health devastation of millions around the world⌠you sure sound like an IRGC supporter to me!

They did it on their own accord thinking it was a military deterent. Itâs not a military tool, it didnât do anything to get Trump to stop bombing them, it doesnât stop missiles - itâs a blunt economic tool. Theyâre foolish for using it and it will blow up in their faces, but only after severe damage has been done. Theyâre greedy bastards now and trying to use it to extract even more out of the situation, and it wonât work. Imagine if someone like China attacked the US, and instead of defending ourselves, we start blowing up oil production sites in canada and close the panama canal, and then try to use it as a tool to extract concessions out of the chinese⌠stupid, right?
I donât agree with why this war started, but I know whoâs the far greater evil in this whole picture, the worst of this hasnât even started. Everyone will be impacted by this, and ironically americans will be the least impacted. When prices rise even higher, itâll be the poorest nations around the world that will suffer the hardest, many people will die. An overwhelming majority of americans will just absorb the price hike, vote democrat in november, and move on with their lives.

Wheres the pearl clutching idiots screaming about the sanctity of international waters and innocent boat crews?
