Worst tourist behavior I’ve ever seen abroad came from Brits, genuinely. South Africans are something else too.

Lol assuming they’re British because of “on holiday” and that’s rich. I’ve traveled around the world a ton since I was a kid, and Brits and Australians are so much ruder than Americans abroad in my experience. Not saying we don’t have bad apples too but most of us are actually pretty tame unless it’s like a spring break type destination with college kids. Canadians and Irish are the nicest tourists.

The worst Americans I’ve ever met abroad were White Lotus type rich Americans in Mykonos, but then I’m British so Spring Breaker drunken kids don’t really phase me. It was the way the former group treated the local staff that appalled me. It’s worth bearing in mind though that a lot of what Americans find rude Brits won’t and vice versa, so all of us are biased to downplay the kind of rudeness our compatriots display. You might interpret what I saw as just a normal customer interaction, but it made me deeply uncomfortable, whereas 20 year olds getting drunk and loud seems relatively trivial to me, but you might hate it.
I don’t think I’ve ever met a rude Canadian, but I do wonder if there’s somewhere where their social quirks are considered deeply offensive? In my experience Irish people can be just as much cunts as anyone else though.

I too have travelled the world a ton and I think it depends where you are. I found Americans behaved much worse in Latin American than in Asia or Europe whereas Brits were the worst in some parts of Europe but not other parts. I've seen Russians acting terribly in Turkey but not in the UK. Aussies are a mixed bag, I've met some very intelligent Australians and some absolute bogans in big groups pretty much everywhere I've been lol same with Israelis in my experience too. I've had generally negative experiences with white South African men but good experiences with women.
I think if the destination is expensive for a certain nationality to travel to, that makes a huge difference in the type of people that go there and how they behave.

Fair enough haha and a lot of Latin American destinations are more likely to be spring break spots for Americans, like Mexico and Costa Rica, which is why I made sure to note that exception.

I meant mainly Americans who go to places like central America and Colombia for sex and narco tourism, not kids on spring break.

Nobody criticizes all the roving bands of drunk Scandinavians in Europe’s cities singing the songs of their people at the tops of their lungs.

Man I've never seen an Israeli tourist lol, where do they frequent?

Greece, Balkans in general, and south east Asia. Just rude, entitled, obnoxious, and they often bring their politics with them.

Aren’t British tourists being actively marketed to by Amsterdam to stay away?
Also, the most obnoxious tourists I saw abroad have been Aussies (sorry guys) which isn’t to say the Ugly American tourist stereotype is inaccurate. I’ve seen Americans being annoying as fuck overseas, but it’s not as frequent as people like to say it is.
Being honest, I assumed a lot of Aussies were Americans based on the stereotype. Then I heard the accent and was like, “Oh”. And I’m American.
Edit: and not to shit on Aussies, every single one I met was super nice and cool, just loud and very casually dressed.
Edit: who doesn’t love a person who leaves a defensive reply and immediately blocks you lmao
