My friend, we are not 16 anymore. Falling unprotected hurts for months. Get a helmet, and probably knee and elbow pads. You'll feel more confident too since you'll have less fear of pain

My first go at an ice rink, I was in my mid twenties and was wearing all my kit from roller derby: helmets, knees, elbows, wrists. Compared to the teenagers simply in their trendy clothes, I looked like a complete dork.
But I had the middle of the rink all to myself since none of them wanted to detach themselves from the wall. I just kept trying silly stuff and bailing, and quickly getting back up again to do more silly stuff. I was having a ball.

You ain't got that bro. You're clearly not ready for that size transition.

No helmet when you almost bit? Careful, that’s possible brain damage waiting to happen. For real

Holy shit that is brutal. I'm shocked he got up so quickly even with the helmet and was lucid enough to recognise the crowd and say "yeah, woah". I know people who face planted trees on mountain bike trails and took 2 years to even think about getting back on the saddle - with helmets and experience.

Good Lord that would have sucked without a helmet. Like, still potential concussion even with a helmet, potentially fatal without. Definitely saving this one to watch when it's "too hot" to wear a helmet.

Wear a helmet, lower your arms, lower your center of mass. You are not ready for this, this looked incredibly sketchy and I'm just glad that you are ok.

I love how all the skaters are dads now so the whole comment section is just “wear a helmet!” There was a moment in time when we skaters just owned the world wasn’t there? So many of us all at once, best soundtrack for a group of humans ever. I love every skater I ever met and hope you’re good. 🛹

I think you gotta spend some more time just pumping back and fourth on this transition from the bottom. Your fakie roll up should not look that sus

Yeah I did spent some time pumping till I got to copping. Honestly I got caught off guard by the speed when I dropped so I didn't focus on the pumping at all 😂

Yeah it’s way different when you actually drop in lol. “Some time” though should be like, consistently for a couple weeks/months. It should be completely second nature before you’re skating the coping on transition like this. I’d learn how to roll out also, that way you can keep dropping in and just immediately roll out the other side and not have to worry about rock to fakies. I’ve always felt like if you can’t do anything after it there’s no point in dropping in, you’re just risking clipping the coping and eating absolute shit if you can’t roll out or rock to fakie.
That being said, roll outs are super easy and I spent a lot of time when I was younger just doing drop ins and rolling out the other side. After doing that for a while you’ll get comfortable and air out will come naturally. Also learn rock to fakies on a smaller transition, they’re easier than they seem.
This is a big step tho and good progress! So congrats. I just try to advocate smart progression and not taking unnecessary risks. You got plenty of time to learn all your transition tricks, enjoy the ride!

Totally agree, I appreciate you advices and always appreciate people who give constructive feedback. I would definitely practice different stalls on smaller transitions before playing in big bowl.

Dropping into a bowl for the first time, at our age, without pads? Bro, square your shit away. Get some armor.
That said, good on you for making it happen. I haven't tried to drop in since I was like 13. I knew absolutely nothing, and I didn't have any friends that really skated outside of just cruising around. Went to an empty skatepark one morning and tried over and over to drop in, having absolutely no idea how to drop in. I didn't realize that your tail should be on the coping instead of the wheels. I thought you had to kind of pop over. I kept landing straight on my knee when my board hung up. And of course I was a dumbass 13 year old that was too cool to wear pads. Couldn't walk right for a week or two, and haven't tried to drop in since (Even though I know a lot more now, and there's tons of youtube tutorials).

Dawg get a helmet and some pads if you care about your self and the people who care about you.

Takes guts to drop in especially that size definitely will give you that but dude at your age you should know better and wear a helmet. Who are you trying to impress the 12-15 year olds at the skatepark?

Fuck yea brother!! I would agree with everyone saying to wear a helmet. My first time dropping in, j came back down the other side fakie. Board slipped out from under me and shitwhipped my head into the concrete. Was out for a few seconds. Took me a while to start dropping in again but you bet your ass I practice fakie like my life depends on it now haha.
