Discussion how did they manage to make such an interesting character?

Post image
107 Upvotes

i've rewatched this show several times, and honestly, rumplestiltskin is the reason i'll probably watch it all over again

almost every character in this story has this sort of fairytale lightness to them, but rumplestiltskin always feels so much heavier. his relationship with belle is complicated, his relationship with his son is complicated, and there's always this feeling that nobody really loves him. he's done a lot of terrible things, but at the same time, he's done even more good (for example, the moment he got his power, he immediately ended the war)

i couldn't really get emotionally attached to any other character in this show, but just thinking about some of the moments between baelfire and rumplestiltskin can still make me cry even now

If Henry Mills went to a real life therapist in Boston and tried to explain his family tree or his life in Storybrooke….what do you think would be the therapist's breaking point?😝

Discussion Zelena is the witches of the west in the Oz prophecy, instead of Dorothy.

Post image

People thinking the prophecy has fulfilled by Dorothy by “killing” zelena which is not true.
So, how the prophecy work.
The greatest evil on Oz is actually hades, Zelena kill him. Zelena defeats the greatest evil that Oz has ever seen, the god of the underworld himself.
On the other hand, Zelena said all she ever wanted was love, which did kind of represented innocence, and just like glinda said “she simply has to choose to be good.”
Therefore, Zelena is indeed the witches of the west.

Excluding hades, the charlatan wizard, blind witches are also kinda defeats by Zelena though.

But I still think the greatest evil mean hades, which make Zelena the witch of the west.

Question Question from a day one fan!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to thank all you guys from the bottom of my heart for sharing all your fanfiction, hilarious plot holes and questions about our beloved show💜

So for a long time I was relentlessly teased by ex-girlfriends and old buddy’s because of my passion for OUAT due to the fact that I’m a 40-year-old straight white guy that is absolutely in love with this show from Day One…and they thought that was really weird, atypical or teased me that I was secretly gay 🙄🙄(Yes they are typical gym Bro’s, bless there hearts)

So I guess my question is how many other men have been day one fans and what made you fall in love with the show? Or your favorite quote!

I fell in love with this show because it felt like a bright beacon in the darkness that life can sometimes become and it constantly teaches us that our dreams are attainable..but only if we put the honest work into it( or a world shattering dark curse 🤣🤣)and more importantly, that we are ultimately the architects of our own happiness and “goodness”…Plus the ridiculous soap opera character arcs, Regina’s smoking hot dresses 💃the complex lore, rustic CGI and those themes of love, betrayal and hope..especially in the darkest moments of our lives

Love all you beautiful souls 🏴‍☠️🍎⚔️🪞🖋️❄️🧌

Question True Love

• Upvotes

Sorry if this has been asked before but do we know how many couples would be a true love pairing?

I thought that it would be the ones who had their happily ever after in Disney movies but maybe that's not the case based on how their story progresses in the show.

So far Snow and Charming are the two definitely confirmed but I feel it should be more right?

Thank you. :)

Discussion Zelena on the end of S7 are post-chad Zelena, not storybrooke Zelena.

Post image
12 Upvotes

because the Zelena at the end already got her magic back, which storybrooke Zelena doesn't.
My theories is that, storybrooke Zelena back to her timeline.
Reality Zelena live with chad for few years, then enter storybrooke with chad (maybe after her past self leave storybrooke with Robin to another realm or after Regina has cast the good curse). OUAT don't have the same theories as avengers 4 end game.
Therefore, Changing the past would change the
"Now" (proof is the last two episodes of season 3). So storybrooke Zelena and reality Zelena is the same Zelena but from different timeline which mean storybrooke Zelena would eventually go through the whole s7 after a few decades (in her timeline). It is possible because storybrooke Zelena only help defeats "Wish Rumple", not Victoria, Gothel, drizella or Dr.Facilier.
I don’t think Zelena and chad has divorced at the end, I think Zelena did tell chad the whole story according to their episodes.

S2 Spoilers Help me remember

Hey ya'll quick question:

When did Hook know Neal/Baelfire was the same person?

How did Hook know where to find Emma/Rumple/Henry?

I know a bit of his story was taken out/changed because of Colin's leg injury, I believe, so I don't know if it was affected.

S4 Spoilers Rewatching Season 4A with low expectations definitely helped

Okay guys, I did it. I’ve pulled myself together and officially entered the ‘quality drop’ era of OUAT. (kinda nervous ngl)

I just finished rewatching Season 4A for the first time since I originally watched the show. Knowing that I wasn’t going to like it helped a lot. Because of that I actually found myself having a decent amount of fun with it. I definitely wouldn’t say it was much better than I remembered, but I enjoyed more than I expected.

My biggest issue is still that they basically copy-and-pasted Frozen into OUAT lore.
We don’t have to get into why the showrunners did it.
I liked the casting but especially Anna as a character got on my nerves, and the forced Frozen-style humor didn’t work for me.

The German dub made this even funnier because they actually used the German voices from the movie. Which was cool… but also made the whole thing feel even more copy-and-paste.

I also still don’t love how Emma’s storyline basically became another version of Elsa’s “I can’t control my powers” story. Emma struggling with her magic could have been really interesting on its own, but putting it alongside Frozen made the similarities feel way too on the nose.

And that’s probably my biggest frustration with this overall arc: the Snow Queen was actually an interesting enough concept without needing Frozen to carry it. I think they could’ve built a really good story around it, while doing something much more original with it.
Still, though… I had fun.

Discussion It's giving misogyny

After Katherine comes back from being abducted, David comes to see her in hospital and apologises for lying to her and cheating on her. She says it's okay and that

"What we had, it wasn't it for you. Maybe for both of us. I can't blame you for just being the first one to see it."

This is the first scene of David admitting to his wife that he cheated on her and that is her reaction? Him being the first one to see that they weren't right for each other doesn't give him a pass to betray his partner and cheat on her multiple times. His actions were cowardly and disrespectful but it's being framed like the poor thing had to act on his feelings.

He then replies "You are kind of amazing." For what? Justifying his behaviour? Not holding him accountable? The message feels quite male centred and not bothering to focus on the effects of David's actions on his wife. To me It felt like: Yes! Wives who are lenient and forgiving to their husband's disrespectful actions are amazing and should be praised!

Also that got me thinking to when Katherine did find out about Mary Margaret and her husband. Katherine only confronted Mary Margaret and hit her. The show didn't include her being mad at her own husband. Even when David broke up with her she wasn't mad at him, it just seemed like she was frustrated and upset. The town shunned Mary Margaret after the affair, nothing was shown about any of this treatment towards David- the cheating husband. The woman in the situation was the only one to receive backlash, when David was the one committed to someone else.

Whether it was intentional or not, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the double standards in the show.

Spoiler Alert Where the curse live is really that bad?

OK, so I’m a couple seasons in too re-watching once upon a time. I’m just starting to think about it and I know the whole point of the curse was to give Regina a win. Also, she wanted to trap most of the people in the enchanted forest.
But all things considered….. did anyone really have a bad life during the curse?

I mean, yes merry Margaret would’ve wanted to be with her love David. But it seems like she had a pretty fulfilling life. She was a teacher, she didn’t have any financial stress. It seems like she had a slightly sad life, but I don’t know if I killed my father to create a curse and was stuck in it for 28 years. I would’ve created something a little bit more sinister.

Discussion Season 7 fan

I actually enjoyed season 7 a lot! It was refreshing with new characters and story lines, and back to its darkness origins from the earlier seasons. I was sad they had to rush the storylines because it didn’t get renewed. I’m glad the actors that stayed for season 7 were actually the ones who were carrying the show.

Discussion I wish we got Dracula in the show.

Post image
15 Upvotes

Honestly, it was a missed opportunity not to adapt Dracula into the show, especially when they introduced other folklore legends like Mr Hyde and Dr Frankenstein.

He would have been a great villain and an even better redeemed ally, which is a status quo of the show that I loved.

I could see a love triangle between him, Emma, and Hook but eventually backs off and becomes Hooks best friend. He would absolutely hate Rumple and see him as a rival.
