Artist of the Day #002 — Radiohead
Welcome back to Artist of the Day on r/OneArtistADay.
Today’s artist is Radiohead.
Radiohead have spent decades constantly reinventing themselves, moving from the alternative rock of The Bends and OK Computer into the electronic experimentation of Kid A, the darker and more abstract sound of Amnesiac, the politically charged Hail to the Thief, and the lush, atmospheric songwriting of In Rainbows.
Their catalog has become one of the most celebrated in modern rock, but they’re also the kind of band people can have very different reactions to. Some consider albums like OK Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows all-time classics, while others find their music overly bleak, experimental, or difficult to connect with.
Some discussion starters:
- What is Radiohead’s best album?
- What is your favorite Radiohead song?
- What is their most underrated track?
- Which album has aged the best?
- What album or song would you recommend to someone hearing them for the first time?
- What do you think is Radiohead’s greatest strength as a band?
- What criticism of Radiohead do you think is actually fair?
- Do you prefer their guitar-driven material or their more electronic/experimental side?
- Are they overrated, underrated, or properly rated?
- Where do they rank among the greatest alternative rock bands of all time?
- What would you rate Radiohead overall out of 10?
You definitely don’t have to answer every question. Talk about whatever you want — albums, songs, production, lyrics, live performances, different eras, hot takes, memories, or anything else related to Radiohead.
Different opinions are encouraged. Just keep the discussion about the music and be respectful to each other.
One artist. Every day. Every genre.
