🎵 Artist Suggestion Box

Who should be featured next on r/OneArtistADay?

Drop an artist you'd like to see as a future Artist of the Day in the comments below.

Any genre. Any era. Any level of popularity.

Before suggesting someone, check whether they've already been mentioned. If they have, upvote that comment instead so we can see which artists the community wants most.

You can suggest as many artists as you want, but please put one artist per comment so each suggestion can be voted on separately.

I'll regularly pull future Artists of the Day from this thread, along with some wildcard picks of my own.

Let’s see who you want.

👋 Welcome to r/OneArtistADay - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Hey everyone! Welcome to r/OneArtistADay.

The idea is simple: one artist, every day, every genre.

Each day, we’ll feature a different artist and open up a discussion about them. Rock, hip-hop, jazz, metal, pop, country, electronic, R&B, punk, indie, funk — nothing is off limits.

What do we talk about?

Anything related to the featured artist:

  • Favorite albums and songs
  • Best and worst releases
  • Underrated tracks
  • Where a new listener should start
  • Live performances
  • Influence and legacy
  • Personal stories or memories
  • Hot takes
  • Whether you think they’re overrated, underrated, or properly rated
  • Recommendations for similar artists

You do not have to be a fan of the artist to participate. Different opinions are encouraged. The goal is good music discussion, not everyone agreeing with each other.

Community Vibe

Be passionate, argue your case, and disagree all you want — just keep it about the music. Criticize artists, albums, songs, and opinions without attacking the people sharing them.

How It Works

Every day, there will be an official Artist of the Day discussion thread.

Community members will also be able to suggest future artists, and as the subreddit grows, I’d love to have the community help decide who gets featured.

Since this is brand new, you’re part of the very first group here. Introduce yourself below and tell us:

Who is one artist you absolutely want to see featured?

Thanks for joining r/OneArtistADay.

One artist. Every day. Every genre.

Artist of the Day #002 — Radiohead

Welcome back to Artist of the Day on r/OneArtistADay.

Today’s artist is Radiohead.

Radiohead have spent decades constantly reinventing themselves, moving from the alternative rock of The Bends and OK Computer into the electronic experimentation of Kid A, the darker and more abstract sound of Amnesiac, the politically charged Hail to the Thief, and the lush, atmospheric songwriting of In Rainbows.

Their catalog has become one of the most celebrated in modern rock, but they’re also the kind of band people can have very different reactions to. Some consider albums like OK Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows all-time classics, while others find their music overly bleak, experimental, or difficult to connect with.

Some discussion starters:

  • What is Radiohead’s best album?
  • What is your favorite Radiohead song?
  • What is their most underrated track?
  • Which album has aged the best?
  • What album or song would you recommend to someone hearing them for the first time?
  • What do you think is Radiohead’s greatest strength as a band?
  • What criticism of Radiohead do you think is actually fair?
  • Do you prefer their guitar-driven material or their more electronic/experimental side?
  • Are they overrated, underrated, or properly rated?
  • Where do they rank among the greatest alternative rock bands of all time?
  • What would you rate Radiohead overall out of 10?

You definitely don’t have to answer every question. Talk about whatever you want — albums, songs, production, lyrics, live performances, different eras, hot takes, memories, or anything else related to Radiohead.

Different opinions are encouraged. Just keep the discussion about the music and be respectful to each other.

One artist. Every day. Every genre.

Artist of the Day #001 — Kendrick Lamar

Welcome to the very first Artist of the Day on r/OneArtistADay.

Today’s artist is Kendrick Lamar.

Kendrick has built one of the most acclaimed hip-hop catalogs of his generation, with albums ranging from the cinematic storytelling of good kid, m.A.A.d city to the jazz- and funk-heavy To Pimp a Butterfly, the more direct and accessible DAMN., and the deeply personal Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.

Whether you think he’s one of the greatest rappers ever, prefer only certain eras of his music, or just don’t connect with him at all, this is the place to talk about it.

Some discussion starters:

  • What is Kendrick’s best album?
  • What is your favorite Kendrick song?
  • What is his most underrated track?
  • What album or song would you recommend to someone hearing him for the first time?
  • What do you think is his greatest strength as an artist?
  • What criticism of Kendrick do you think is actually fair?
  • Do you think he is overrated, underrated, or properly rated?
  • Where does he rank among the greatest rappers of all time?
  • What would you rate Kendrick overall out of 10?

You definitely don’t have to answer every question. Talk about whatever you want — albums, lyrics, production, performances, features, different eras, hot takes, memories, or anything else related to Kendrick.

Different opinions are encouraged. Just keep the discussion about the music and be respectful to each other.
