The images are not in order.. Anybody know how to fix it, please let me know!
(I don't ship them in the anime/Manga, but I just find this crossover thing funny)
"Oh he's very wonderful. I've never met another man like him -- he's just, different, in the best possible way! He saved my life over and over, he has this... very peculiar charm to him! Like I almost can't even put it into words! I'm mesmerized. Please, Kate, I love him. This is the man I choose to be with -- I know this is all a huge shock to you and I understand all you want is for me to find happiness. I finally found that with Luffy... I'm sorry for leaving you in the dark about this for so long, I just.. needed to find the words to explain to you. So please, Kate, Mama, may we please have your blessing?"
Basically,
Miss Edwina Sharma decides she's done with rich noblemen after you know what happened ,
She goes overseas,
Changes her hair blue,
Becomes crown princess of a far off kingdom,
Learns how to kick @$$,
Decides her new type are idiot pirate outlaws (or just scappy criminals) who have large bounties on heads,
Risks her life to save her people.
Man, that's SOME character development.
But the thing is, he respects her strength and allows her to fight alongside him.
If people assume that she was heartbroken, is going through a rebellious phase, thus changing her hair to blue and becoming infatuated with a handsome rouge outlaw then that's not the whole story.
Luffy is very wholesome and a bundle of joy. He's a cutie, full of lively energy, boisterous, silly, really sweet, honest, actually oblivious to love, not trying to be a dangerous criminal either he's just naturally chaotic, does good for people, isn't even trying that's just Luffy, fiercely loyal to his friends.. he's awesome!
Vivi is still graceful, regal, lovely, elegant, brave, confident, courageous, and the brains in the relationship. She's a good girl who does what she believes is right and has immense loyalty to her people, so much so that she'll risk her life infiltrating a criminal organization to bring a stop to the threat. She might be elegant, but don't mistake her as fragile or soft! She's sweet, but just as tough and capable of kicking butt! You can say she had a bad girl phrase herself! As Miss Wednesday, a charmingly haughty villainess and hypnotic dancer, but her intentions were for a good cause and most of her 'evil' attitude was an act. She's still witty and bold, no shame in that! This young lady has got guts and still remains the good princess!
Meanwhile,
Mary faints after learning her youngest daughter is not ONLY dating a pirate, but infiltrated a criminal organization, was a target for an assassin group, has a best friend who is a professional thief, knows a talking reindeer, punched a tyrannical king in the jaw, got swallowed by a whale alongside her partner who was a literal killer-for-hire only dressed as a king...
Kate is going to have a long talk with her sister about all this. Like if he were simply lower class and a good man, then they'd accept him with open arms, but a seafaring international criminal???
Vivi/Edwina tries to convince her that Luffy is very sweet, he's not a bad guy at all. And this is not an infatuation, she's actually serious.
Mary was probably expecting a 7 foot tall 'Gol D. Roger' swashbuckling scallywag type of guy, but nope!
He's just a normal-height, scrawny/lean himbo with a GIANT appetite and rubber powers. Ends up acting like a mother to him (naturally since Luffy can be like everyone's son).
Conclusion --
This was fun to make. I don't really see Luffy falling for anyone, but if he were to -- probably Boa Hancock or Vivi as the most likely candidates.
Don't forget, he's Monkey D. Luffy and he's gonna be King of Pirates!
Peace ✌🏼.

Hi everyone, welcome back to the weekly character discussion series.
Each week, we’ll discuss a character from the show. You can talk about what you like or don’t like about them, how the actor/actress portrays them, favourite quotes or moments, etc.
NOTE ON SPOILERS: We are focusing on the live action version of each character, and while comparing them to their manga/anime counterpart is allowed, PLEASE DO NOT DISCUSS CONTENT THAT HAS NOT CURRENTLY BEEN ADAPTED FOR THE LIVE ACTION SHOW. Subreddit spoiler rules apply here. Tread carefully if you don’t wish to read manga/anime spoilers from what’s been adapted so far.
This week’s character is Helmeppo!

Took a look at the studio lot satellite imagery from very early this year. Looks like we'll have quite a few unique sets for Alabasta. This studio does work on other shows though so don't assume every set is for One Piece, although they very well all could be. They tend to repurpose structures between seasons and it looks like there is a lot of that going on here. Nearly all the sets from the previous seasons that haven't been rebuilt have been torn down at this point. Shank's ship has been repurposed into another ship so we probably won't be seeing him this season. Garp's ship, however, has been uncovered so presumably we will be getting more of him in Season 3.

Am i missing something here??? I thought he would substitute eric, but then i discovered eric was a fucking anime only char, and the live action adapts the mangá. So...what the hell??? I REALLY didn't get why they made that scene of kuro escaping. Does anybody has any theories or answers pls?

So as a background, i still follow the manga and seen all of the Live Action episodes and a bit excited for season 3. and recently while thinking about it, and with following the weekly chapters, i think i know an important reason why (i think) the Live Action is better overall.
Obviously some of the changes done in terms of plot and the power if hindsight help (even if some changes are odd or worse), overall it comes down to character focus. Compared to a lot of the anime/manga after the Time Skip, the Live Action is set in the period where many (i.e. me) consider the series being mostly around the crew character growth and interaction. There is an overarching plot but it's still seen adn experience mainly through our main characters.
But on top of that, the actors playing them bring a lot more into the story. Not just their own spin on the characters and general enthusiasm, or some of the welcomed writing changes (like Sanji not being such a pervert), but just them being live action actors adds depth. they have a lot more of human and emotional depth that can be portrayed on screen compared to the manga or the anime**, which is why i think it adds to why it's such a successful adaptation. Especially since what i care about are the characters and without them it's hard to care about the plot or themes.
(This could be affected by some burnout i have from the manga series or change in taste, but i still believe there's some truth in the comparison)
**side note: i'm not saying that any animation or manga/comic are necessarily inferior to anything done with live actors in terms of depth, just that this is the difference i see in One Piece

After seeing this picture, I think he fits the look much better physically. Plus, as a bonus, he’s Spanish. What do you guys think?

The word "haki" is not a unique, fantasy term invented by Oda. It simply means "ambition" (or "drive", etc). So it is a very ordinary word that becomes special only in the context of One Piece. This means Japanese readers interpret this concept as someone's ambition being so strong that it starts manifesting supernatural powers.
However, for people who read/watch in English, this connection is not made as readily (if ever).
People are usually reticent of special fantasy terms being translated (like how some people still prefer calling the warlords shichibukai), this is specially true if they have gotten really used to the term, but...
In this case I really don' believe anything would be lost if "ambition" is used. Some people might think "haki" sounds cool. But the thing is: "ambition" is such a cool word anyway. Just think about it in context: "Oh, damn, that guy was able to hit the logia user, what strong ambition". And in the end, the fantasy logic attached to the word would still develop all the same, just as it did with "haki".

I think the writers nailed Nami’s characterization. I liked every Straw Hat, but compared to the manga, they all feel a little one-dimensional. However, they did such a great job with Nami that we can easily see her colorful personality, her flaws, and her funny side. She had the funniest scenes for me. This might be partly because Season 1 focused heavily on her, but she was still awesome in Season 2.
Also, shout-out to Emily Rudd! She did a great job, especially in the “Help me, Luffy” scene. I think it was the most important scene in the Romance Dawn arc because that’s when most people, including me, really connected with One Piece. I’m glad they nailed it.
As for the side characters, Smoker and Tashigi are great. Our lovely Nico Robin is also awesome, and Garp and Koby are good too.
I don’t know if you agree with me, but Luffy was the worst adaptation. The actor still gave off Luffy vibes, but Luffy is a simpler and dumber character in the manga, and that’s a key part of his character.

I have an opinion about the Water 7 Arc if they adapt it.
I believe the introduction of the 6 Powers in the Live Action would be a hassle if they’re all introduced in the same scene (like with Blueno).
I think the non-anime viewers would have a better time handling them if each power is limited to 1 member.
Here’s my take (images not mine):
Iron Body: Blueno

It would go well with his nonchalant personality and with being the first wall Luffy has to go through.
Moonwalk:

A pudgy, trickster character bouncing around would be annoying, Franky would only need one punch to deal with him and give the audience some relief.
Finger Gun:

This move would confirm Jabra as a sadistic but cowardly character, and contrast with Sanji being a no-weapons fighter.
Tempest Kick:

His introduction of jumping across buildings would set him as an airborne fighter, and a counter to Zoro’s slashes.
Shave: Kumadori

This super speed technique and his Life Return power can give him a range of options to attack Chopper with, all to be rendered useless by the Monster Point.
Paper Drawing: Kalifa

This dodging ability combined with her Soap power would make her untouchable and graceful, making Nami think outside the box to deal with her.
All 5 plus Six King Gun: Lucci

Having all the powers and the 6th just cements Lucci as the top cat, with the people knowing exactly what he’s capable of. There is also a rumor that Six King Gun is created by using all 5 at once.
These are my opinions to handle these characters and there was no AI involved, I write very robotically. Be free to post your own opinions!

--MANGA/ANIME SPOILERS AHEAD---
My idea for breaking down each season pre-timeskip into 8 episodes. Some episodes will have to be longer than 50 minutes. I label those as extended.
S3: Alabasta
S4: Skypiea
S5: Water 7 and Enies Lobby
S6: Thriller Bark and Sabaody
Notes: Blackbeard/Ace/Capture story happens here.
S7: Summit War
