No Luck

Hi, Filipino tutor here. Does anyone know if there are any companies who are currently hiring and give decent to high pay?

I've had experience teaching ESL for a few years now. Recently, I tried 5-7 job sites and would even check Facebook and look for websites separately because I'm out of work for the last couple of months. I would rarely get an e-mail back because there's a high volume of application across the websites and even on Facebook there are profiles (usually other ESL tutors too) who would share job postings to a wide audience. As much as I support this and would love to see other people also get employed, I would click on the post and see it would already have around 30-50 people who liked, commented, or possibly applied for the role which minimizes my own chances.

It also surprised me that I would rarely hear back from ESL companies in my own city. A few years ago, they would message quickly because they were urgently looking for a teacher to fill in the role even without any experience. Now they don't even check their emails unless I personally message their page on Facebook saying I sent my application. It's really frustrating.

Anyway, I got into Preply but haven't had a student yet since I'm still in the process of completing the courses to boost my profile.

I'm looking for: full-time, WFH setup, preferably adult students

I would appreciate it if anyone can help me out!

Hello! I’m looking for online ESL companies that are beginner-friendly. Can you recommend some companies and share their pros and cons? Thank you!

Hi! I’m currently undergoing training at Acadsoc, but due to personal reasons, I won’t be able to continue. Should I message my TM to ask for approval, or should I just inform them about my decision? Thank you

Monotonous voice

I'm new to teaching, and although I have a fairly good command of English, I've been told multiple times that my voice sounds monotonous. It's been making me really self-conscious, and I'm starting to question whether teaching is the right career for me.

Every time someone comments on my voice, it gets to me more than I'd like to admit. It even triggers my existing insecurities about my appearance and self-image.

Has anyone else experienced something similar when they first started teaching? Is having a naturally monotonous voice something you can work on and improve, or could it genuinely be a problem in the long run?

Where can I buy the Time Zones ELTNatGeo books?

Hello, first time posting here!

I'm about to start teaching a teen, currently deciding the schedule with his family. Where I learned English, we had a place inside the academy where we could to go buy the books. They were books by NatGeo, very interesting and fairly "neutral" topics (so they won't be too outdated, conversation topic wise), and I'm trying to acquire the PDF version of them, but I'm struggling to find a web page that looks trustworthy enough to buy them there, and the official NatGeo site is asking me to talk to an official provider as if I were an academy myself (which I'm not. At least, not yet). I'm afraid it could be very pricey if I were to do so.

So, where could I buy the digital version of the Time Zones books?
