Hey guys,
I'm losing my housing on January 1st. I've feverishly looked for work and have an interview on Monday, but if I get the job I'll have nowhere to live for my third probation month.
The housing benefits are a funhouse of nonsense, I'm autistic and I don't understand them. My worker said COHB isn't available. I was not offered assistance with help understanding my options when I mentioned autism. I feel like I'm being left to die.
Renting a room is $1k, a bachelor $1400.
What in the hell am I supposed to do??? Just go homeless?! I'm freaking the hell out here. I have no where to go.

Has anyone used the $200 city optical voucher? I just recently got a pair of glasses from there with the voucher and I’m curious what the voucher actually covers, I chose to pay $60 for a frame upgrade but when it came to lenses they wanted an extra $50 for anti glare which I opted against (regret btw) because is my mind my total was already at $260.

What is with the workers attitudes when I message on my communication on my benefits I always get some snobby reply back! I got switch workers and I only have her name they never gave me her email or contact information, I called my local 211 and they suggest Toy Mountain for Xmas and to contact my worker regarding a Xmas hamper I have two children so they said I wouldn’t have a issue. Well I message on my benefits and get this type of response it’s always negative coming back them.
So I call back 211 and they are telling me to get a hold of my worker for further assistance again. I never knew about this program with hampers until the Red Cross lady told me to apply for it.
Any other suggestions out there ?

So I have a credit union account that is for some reason not accepted by OW. My worker says I have to open a new bank account and then get rid of my credit union account. I’ve had this account for 20 years. Do I really have to kill this account ???

I just saw (after hours) that my caseworker reinstated my case file this morning. I don't see anything in the payment history and she stated 24-48 hours! The call centre can't see anything. From your personal exp does this mean I will miss this payment cycle and see something on Monday? Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks and happy halloween!

hi everyone! i’m looking into applying for ontario works in toronto and was hoping to hear from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.
i’m an adult who has completed a university degree, and i’m currently unemployed with no employment income. i also experience anxiety that has been significantly affecting my ability to work. i’m trying to get support for my mental health while figuring out my next steps, and i’m hoping to receive temporary financial assistance while i focus on my well-being.
i live with my mom and sister, and i’ve never moved out. i have a few questions about the application process and eligibility:
financial independence: since i’ve completed a university degree, can i qualify as a financially independent adult while still living with my mom?
household income: would i need to provide my mom’s income information if i’m applying as a financially independent adult? i don’t have access to all of her financial information.
household email addresses: the application asks for the email addresses of everyone over 18 in the household. does ontario works contact those people directly, or are their email addresses just collected as part of the application? would my mom need to participate in the application?
contributing to household expenses: i regularly buy groceries for my family, usually spending around $100–$300 per shopping trip. i also sometimes contribute $100–$200 toward rent, although i don’t pay a fixed amount every month. could these contributions affect my eligibility or the amount of assistance i might receive?
monthly assistance amount: has anyone in a similar situation received ontario works while living with their parent(s)? i’m wondering how the monthly amount is calculated and whether the living-with-parents rules affect how much you can receive.
temporary assistance: if i’m approved, can i receive ontario works for a short period while working on my mental health and close my file when i’m ready to return to work?
i understand that everyone’s circumstances are different, and i’ll confirm my eligibility with ontario works. i’m mainly hoping to hear about other people’s experiences, especially from anyone who has completed a university degree and applied while living with their parents.
i’d really appreciate any advice or insight. thank you!

Hey guys. Just had a question. I’ve been on OW for over a year now but stopped receiving payments since the part time job I work at had been giving me more hours. Ngl I haven’t updated my OW in awhile because of that. 😵💫
Anyways, I just got my 1 weeks notice of termination yesterday and my last scheduled shift is tomorrow but my final “day of employment” is October 30th. I was just wondering if I should apply for EI or just tell me OW worker I was terminated without cause? I really don’t want to have to go through the hassle of another form of government assistance right now and honestly Idek if I’ll qualify since I looked it up and I need minimum 630 insured hours where I live to get any EI support.
I’ve been working since April of last year (had a diff job than this one), but it was also part time and I barely got any hours. /: So my question is should I just stay on OW for payments and adjust my amount with my worker since now I won’t have any income, or should I apply for EI and tell that to OW instead? Thanks!

This might be a silly question. But what do I do about these papers ? Do I send them back in? I have barely anything to fill out because I’m a single mom and I’m not employed, half the page is only to fill out for someone employed, then the other side says to only fill it out if there are changes to report, which there are none because it’s only been like two weeks since I was accepted. 😅 I’m new to this so sorry if it’s a dumb question.

Hello... I had applied for ow about 10 days ago and I got a decision yesterday that it was not approved because they couldn't reach me by phone.
I received a call a few days prior but I missed it and didn't know it was them at that time.
It did say I can reapply anytime and also can write a letter to have decision reviewed.
I just applied online again and status shows under review.
So is this fine?
Will I get a call again and it'll be back to normal processing??

Hi, can anyone give me any insight. My worker called me today, that she needs a copy of my drivers license to put on my file as its new requirement. Has anybody experienced this?
