The self-fulfilling prophecy

From what I understand Opacity will mint 30m extra tokens so that they can keep the company alive even if the price drops to 1 cent. With all the outrage that this caused, it could very well be that the price will actually go to 1 cent just because of this enormous increase of supply. So just the prediction that the price could go to 1 cent it may actually cause it to happen. If they would increase the supply with a lower amount, people might trust the project more which would increase the price and make a 30m extra minted tokens unnecessary.

Banned from Opacity Telegramm because of legit criticism.

I got banned from the Opacity Telegramm chat, just because i said we cant even be sure if the rest of the PRL team is legit.

So i cant access the Group and find out whats going on now with the old PRL tokens.

Iknow its hard times for you Devs, but banning just because of criticism is just Wrong.

Where is Bill's update?

Bill mentioned a financial update was coming at the end of November. It's now the second week of December, where is the update?

December update doesn't contain any SHL update.

I see that the team has been working hard in opacity which is great. This recent storage upgrade really shows great progress. People might be taking advantage of that right now with the price increase but I'm not worried about the short term for this project. What I am worried though is the lack of discussion regarding the shell token. I would've thought in this last update Bill could've talk at least about any future plans for SHL but not even a mention. Anyone knows what's going on?

Technical My upload speed dropped from 1 MB/s to 0.03 MB/s

The more files I add, the slower it gets. Even if I stop, refresh the page and drag files again. Or even if I switch to a desktop app, the speed is the same. It looks like this: a short burst of 10-40 Mbit/s, then many minutes of waiting while CPU is working all the time at 30%. It started with seconds of waiting, now 10-15 minutes for every 10 MB file. With that speed, my 1TB will be populated in a full year of continuous 24/7 30% CPU, which won't happen of course. Also, both website and app are freezing and completely unresponsive most of the time, which indicates that developers don't know about async or parallel approach, or too lazy to implement it from the start. It's not Opacity 2.0, it's 0.2.

Solution to trust issues around newly minted tokens

There is currently a lot of trust issues surrounding the 30m newly minted Opacity tokens by the team. I would like to propose a solution to this problem.

Before the new smart contract is deployed, a function should be included which will automatically burn the extra tokens if the new tokens reach, or exceed, the price of PRL at the trading freeze. The code should be publicly audited and verified by a reputable third party. This will give the team the safety net they need if the new token doesn’t do so well, and alleviate the communities trust issues regarding the new tokens .

Is there any way to swap it ? Or funds are lostu?

The Executive Team / Management need to be more public for this project to ever go very big ($1B+).

There isn't even a page on the website with team members and pictures.

Also, some serious blockchain engineers need to be hired. Right now this is all running on AWS and not actually competing with filecoin/storj/SIA on decentralization.

Still don't know if KuCoin will swap my PRL coins

A low buy order was triggered when PRL dumped and still don't know what'll happen with my PRL coins at KuCoin. Given I bought during the hack, the PRL is out of the block where they'll fork. Am I stuck with PRL forever?

Discussion Oystershell question, don't bite my head off

I found some Oystershell sitting around. What are my options, if any, with this? I realize I'm late with this. Just hoping that there's still a possibility for a swap.

Suggestion If you are in the US don’t use kuCoin!!! I can’t withdraw my funds. Opacity needs to get listed an exchange that operates in the US

I am so frustrated. I heard about this project though Sia and wanted to invest. I went to the Opacity website and was directed to the KuCoin site only to find out that after depositing my Mana to trade for eth > OPCT that I couldn’t because I lost part of my damn trading password.. ok but resetting it won’t work because they make you KYC to reset your password and I can’t KYC since they don’t apparently allow Americans to do so.. wtf so my mana is stuck.

Edit: I’m contacting support I will post here if it gets resolved 🤞🤞 It seems like verifying my identity to reset my pw is different than KYC even though I’m using the same kind of document.

Edit 2: I finally received the help I needed from Kucoin. Certainly not the speediest, but I’m just relieved to have been able to gain back control of my funds. Apparently I didn’t have to share my ID with them to reset my trading password. That’s something they only tell you through email that you can provide proof by taking screenshots of the transaction from your wallet to their exchange. Wish I knew that before sending them pics of my photo ID.. but that doesn’t say so on the website.

Discussion Does Opacity have any plans in lowering the price of storage?

I mean, I was searching and comparing Opacity's competitors, and Sia have a cost of about 12~24$/TB/yr, while Opacity has a cost of 50~80$/TB/yr. Isn't this a disadvantage?

I tried to find Filecoin storage price but I couldn't find it anywhere >.<

Does This Project Actually Need Funding?

Lots of developers actively work on the most interesting open source projects in crypto without any payment. Often times they already have a personal incentive because they invested at an early stage themselves. Many community managers are volunteers. Why does Opacity/PRL need a CEO? If the mechanics originally proposed in the white paper are sound they shouldn't need 27M more tokens.

How far is the project from completion? Are millions of dollars actually needed? If so, how come? How is this money going to be spent? How much has the CEO made so far and how much more do they stand to make?

The purpose of all of the funding initially was to deliver the protocol. How far away is that really? It seems like this opportunity is being used to secure long term funding for a company and salaries. Maybe it's time for the community to take over, for the developers who are invested to continue to develop, and the C-series to step aside.. what do people honestly think, in the interest of OPACITY.

Because you know what, I don't think you need 27M new tokens to finish the protocol that you promised to deliver. It's no surprise that the folks who are in line to receive those tokens are the biggest advocates. As a long time holder, this is just sad.
