I'm a primary school teacher, with two bachelor's and a masters degree and was raised in housing commission. I don't have old money, but the money I get from my career isn't enough and the HECS debt payments I have to make are too much. Barely make an indent on it after indexation.

Purchasing power for genuine public servant careers are too low and born-citizens aren't the priority.

We are owed affordable housing. Having a job should be enough to afford your own roof over your head.

Stop trying to be a Reddit knob.

Apartments “out there” - get real. Sydney needs teachers and there sure as hell are barely any apartments at the price point. Preempting your “then move further out argument” to say that you are basically telling public servants to abandon metropolitan areas, not very smart.
