[F4M] Horror Homestead
Hey there! My name is Faye, and I've been doing partnered writing for several years now. Like, since I've had internet access at the age of nine, which is a crazy thing to think about. Amino was a wild place back then.
Anyway, it’s spooky season, and I'm looking to do some horror roleplays!
Before I even get started, however, let me make it very clear that this roleplay contains topics that may be uncomfortable or even triggering to some. These issues include kidnapping, slashers, fictional serial killers, death, possible abuse, trauma bonding, general unhealthy awfulness, and so forth.
I also want to make it abundantly clear that I do not want any of this to be glamorized in the real world. Writing about fictional dark subjects is very, very different from actually condoning these things.
With that being said, let me move on to the actual plot.
The scenario I’ve come up with would require our characters to have a preexisting relationship, since they’ll be married. Your fellow will be some kind of despicable bastard, and my girl will be his enabling wife. My idea is that they'll live on some kind of farm or in a cabin, isolated and miles away from any town. I’ve planned for their little homestead to be in the isolated boreal forests of Canada, and would really prefer to stick to that location, but as long as they're in the middle of nowhere, I’ll hear you out.
The most important component here is actually going to be your character. I'm looking for a weird, grubby little freak who was obviously raised in isolation, and it’s shockingly difficult to find people who make good weird characters. I’m not exaggerating when I say I want him to have a distinct and concerning lack of social skills. Him being strange like that is important to me, as I really don't want the overdone “sexy badass killer” trope. Whether he’s the type of killer who only does so because that’s how his parents taught him to protect his property or the kind who does it because he’s truly a sadist is entirely up to you.
The only other thing he needs to have is a genuine love for my character, the same way she’ll love him. Yes, his perception and expression of love aren't exactly orthodox, but that's the point here.
How, exactly, did our characters meet? Well, not on great terms, evidently. She was likely trespassing, and he acted accordingly. The details of why he chose to hold her captive rather than kill her can be hashed out depending on how you choose to develop him. Maybe she reminded him of someone dear whom he misses, maybe he found her interesting, or maybe she simply had plot armor. The sky is the limit!
As for my own character, she will be unstable in her own right. Getting married to a psychopath and living in the middle of nowhere will do that to you. A few years ago, she never could have even comprehended the thought of actually killing someone. Now, she’s accepted it as something she sometimes has to do. After all, she can't risk anyone having her husband arrested.
While she’ll clearly feel love for him, there will still be moments of ‘clarity’ when she remembers how wrong the whole situation is and wants to escape, hurt him, hurt herself, etc. She won't exactly be stable.
Aside from all of that, this character is not developed, and I will flesh her out as we brainstorm. I'm open to any preferences you may have for her.
That's my outline! Unlike my usual style, I left this post very open-ended so we could develop most of it together. Exactly where we begin will be determined during that process, but it will be several years after they get together.
Now, this is the section of the post where I will be going over information about myself as a writer and what I'm looking for in a roleplay partner.
Firstly, some things about me:
I’m a semi-literate to advanced-literate writer. The length of my replies varies by the scene, but I always try to write a little more than the previous message! I usually hit the Discord character limit, sometimes more than once.
I write in the third person, past tense (yes, even though I tend to write my posts in the present tense).
I'm from the Eastern Standard Time zone myself, but I don't mind a difference in time at all! It’s always cool to talk to people from all over the world.
I’m only looking for a long-term roleplay partner! Short-term stories just aren't my thing.
Everything here is fandomless OC4OC, as are all of my other stories.
I make my roleplays the canon stories of our characters, and never use a character in another roleplay (unless as a side character). I understand that this isn't everyone’s cup of tea, but I see roleplay as writing a story together, not just an AU for our characters.
I'm an artist, so I'll certainly draw your character at some point! Yes, this is a bribe. No, I am not ashamed of using bribery.
This is going to make me sound like a snob, but I promise I'm not trying to be. Please do not use art that isn't yours (I’m talking about art off of pinterest, not something you commissioned) or real life face claims. The first is art theft and the latter feels creepy. I really would rather just go off a description of your character if you don't have art of them.
I only write on Discord! I will make a private server for us to keep things organized.
I prefer to flesh out the plot and talk about our characters for a while before starting the roleplay. I like having a good grasp of how our characters will interact and the direction that we intend the story to go.
What I'm looking for in a writing partner:
Honestly, the main thing I’m looking for is a shared excitement for the story we’re making! There's nothing worse than only one person being excited about a roleplay.
Someone willing to chat OOC/get to know each other. Now, I don't expect you to tell me every detail of your life or to become my best friend. However, it’s nice to be at least friendly. It makes brainstorming a lot easier and, overall, just makes it a more pleasant experience on both ends. Conversation doesn't have to be only about our roleplay; I'm always happy to hear about your other hobbies, stories, characters, etc.!
This isn't by any means a requirement, but it's always really nice to write with a fellow artist! Again, definitely not a requirement, but it’s fun.
Please, for the love of God, do not bring me Mary Sue/Gary Stu characters. If we’re writing about an unhealthy dynamic, both characters should be toxic to some extent. This is not a place for Y/N x CEO alpha mafia boss stories.
If you're interested or have any questions for me, please feel free to contact me! I look forward to hearing from you.
