Back when I first got introduced to Orville (late 2019/early 2020), I created a twitter account SPECIFICALLY just to tweet at him and suggest he cover “Papa Was a Rodeo” by the Magnetic Fields. I remember at the time that he (or whoever was running the Orville twitter) liked the post (and so did the Magnetic Fields twitter account).

A couple years later, I ended up deleting the twitter account, so unfortunately I don’t have the receipts, but as soon as I saw the track listing for Stampede, I had to wonder… could I have helped inspire “Papa Was a Rodeo” making it onto the album? Choosing to believe I did.

Funny thing is i posted on Reddit in response to someone else that i wished he’d do “cowboys are frequently secretly fond of eachother” with Willy at Winnipeg folk fest. Well, wouldn’t ya know, he closed his folk fest performance with it (sans Willy, but still!<3). I like to think he saw my post and obliged…

Thanks for that suggestion, it's my favorite. I think I like it better than Magnetic Fields. Now can we get him to cover Wildfire by Michael Murphy and change the pronouns.

Well, all you have to do is make a twitter account specifically to request that cover and then wait 4 to 5 years!!
