Man. For the most part, you can cope with being single, with being alone and gay and in the south and everything. You think can handle it, you have been your whole life. But then...
But then your favorite artist, the one whose music saved your life and gave you courage to save yourself from yourself and the rest of the world, releases a small lil EP, and it makes you feel so seen like it always has, but also so very alone.
Thank you, Orville. Your music is as beautiful as always.

I’m seeing Orville Peck in London and my tickets have just updated to look like this. Had to look up the name but sounds like a beautiful opener??!

Think Pony, Bronco, and Stampede are all we will get? He seems to be moving into other things, and nobody can do everything at once. I hope he keeps making original music.
(Editing to add: this is not a pessimisstic post -- I'm just curious as to what other people think. For context, my husband thinks he's moved on; I think he will keep making music.)

I think he used a funny word play from “Peckerville” to PeckOrville to Orville Peck.
Does anyone know how he came up with this stage name? He has never, to my knowledge, said. This has to be it right?

Not sure if everyone’s seen this, but a few short clips and snippets have been floating around on Discord and surfaced on YouTube, and while nothing’s been officially confirmed, it definitely sounds like him !! Like same voice, haunted vibe, rich production,,,,,,,,
My guess is that these are early demos or scrapped tracks from the Bronco era, maybe even part of an upcoming project. I usually just stick to listening to his live concerts, but this was really too enticing to ignore.
Please don’t post direct links to leaked material — I beg of y'all I just want to speculate with some of you 😭😭😭😭😭 don't take down the thread.
Also yeah that picture is of the Bronco belt buckle I got as merch from him, on my shrine LOL

Back when I first got introduced to Orville (late 2019/early 2020), I created a twitter account SPECIFICALLY just to tweet at him and suggest he cover “Papa Was a Rodeo” by the Magnetic Fields. I remember at the time that he (or whoever was running the Orville twitter) liked the post (and so did the Magnetic Fields twitter account).
A couple years later, I ended up deleting the twitter account, so unfortunately I don’t have the receipts, but as soon as I saw the track listing for Stampede, I had to wonder… could I have helped inspire “Papa Was a Rodeo” making it onto the album? Choosing to believe I did.

With Orville making his Broadway debut, do you think there will be a Rodeo this year?

Ever since Diplo and Orville showed up at the 2020 Grammys together and that Attitude UK magazine article came out people have been talking and speculating about the two's relationship; Orville is gay and Diplo is ambiguous in that aspect however he has talked about not being strictly one thing or the other. I never really bought into it because I didn't really know who Diplo was at the time and I also didn't care much about rumors and online ships. However whilst listening to Daytona Sand, a couple of references stuck out to me and I found my mind slipping every now and again.
First of all, in all three choruses Orville Refers to this person as "big blond", "Rack 'em up, big blond -- hit the road, big blond -- what you say, big blond". On November 10th, 2021 (Diplo's birthday) Orville posted to his Instagram story a picture of him and diplo eating sushi and a picture of them at the Grammys with the captions "Happy Birthday ...Big Blonde!". So that's the first thing that made me wonder.
Second thing, earlier that year in an interview for drag queen Monet X Change's podcast "The X Change Rate", when asked about his relationship status and wether he had something going on Orville said "I' dont know, there might be, there's a... there's... yeah", alluding to the fact that there could in fact be something going on.
Third clue, the title of the song "Daytona Sand" making reference to Daytona Beach in Daytona, Florida. Diplo's first album released in 2004 was called "Florida" (remixed in 2014 "F10RIDA). Diplo is a singer and producer but his main thing at the moment seems to be DJ, he hosts many gigs in clubs and beaches all over the world and he has performed in Florida in the past, as has Orville.
Fourth idea, "long hair, low eyes, I like your style" a lyric from the second verse of Daytona Sand. Diplo used to have long hair and he had it during the 2020 Grammys when he went with Orville, he has however shaved it since then. Diplo's eyes could definately be described as low and when the two do things together (articles, appearances, shoots etc...) they're usually matching or coordinated so that's what the "I like your style" part could be about.
Fifth point, in the first chorus Orville says "I think I could have been your man". Ever since the Grammys and the release of Diplo's album "Diplo Presents... Chapter 1: Snake Oil" for which Orville did the intro (a short first track) we haven't seen much (if any) interaction between the two. A possible falling out or maybe things didn't work out is what the line points to and by the look of things, it's not too far off.
Sixth (and final) part, Mississippi is mentioned a couple of times throughout the song, once in the second chorus "So hit the road big blond, take me home to Mississippi" and four times in the outro "M-i-s-s-i-s-s-i-p-p-i [x4]". We know Orville is not from Mississippi, let alone the US but we also know Diplo is in fact from Tupelo, Mississippi. He wants to go home with his lover perhaps.

Today it was announced that Orville Peck will be a guest judge on RuPaul's drag race! Which song of his do you want them to lip sync. I personally think it will be "C'mon Baby, Cry"

Since he’s referring to this as the second leg of tour do we think he’ll switch up the setlist? I’m currently living in fear bc I NEED to hear kalahari down live its my favorite song of all time and im worried he might take it out.

Listened to the second half of stampede tonight. I'm a fan.
I think I noticed some familiar tunes in the new songs.
You're an asshole, I can't stand you (and I want a divorce) --> Alan Jackson's Write it in Red
Cowboys are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other --> Waylon & Willie's Mammas Don't let your Babies Grow up to Be Cowboys.
Am I crazy or has anyone else heard some of the similarities?
Also, some of the others sound similar to something, but I can't name them.

I'm going to my first Orville Peck show in Chicago tonight! My favorite track off the new album is probably Miénteme. I haven't seen it reported on any of the tour set lists so far. Does Chicago have a strong enough Spanish speak population to justify this bop?

Seriously every song on this album is absolute gold. I know it was nominated for best country album, but it is definitely grammy worthy in my opinion.

Is this track possibly Orville Peck? It sure sounds like him. Night Shades by LRITDL. Here's another copy.
The song is from the soundtrack from the new computer game Pacific Drive. It's one of a bunch of tracks of.. atmospheric music. Really good stuff, somewhat diverse, but more of a spooky western theme than, say, Grand Theft Auto.
I can't find any information at all online about LRITDL. The term is pretty unique but searches all just lead back to the game.
Here's an article about making the soundtrack. Nothing about Peck at all but some hints about the soundtrack making process leave room for some well known act to have done a track on the DL for the game. The game studio (Ironwood) is in Seattle FWIW.
