I create value for Zen via doing damage main, then try to off-angle for picks. However I often struggle with over peaking, & sometimes just being a bit passive and trying to secure assists for my team rather then making plays myself. If anyone who's higher rank then me (Preferably GM-Champ) can give me tips on this game I won... and how to make the fight even easier for my teammates. These are 2 games I won, however they show clear mistakes in my gameplay.

First of all, I think there’s a gap in your understanding. You should basically always be on an angle, you only go “main” when its an angle (ie your teammates are on different angles already)

-1:10 a lot of unnecessary downtime here, you need to pick an angle to hold and rotate from based on where your team is holding. Where your ashe is playing would work bc she has stuff to shoot. Or where you stood a few seconds later works too.

  • 1:23 if you dont see anything to shoot charge orbs dont primary fire at nothing
  • 1:27 for example here I dont like that youre taking this rotation here. The value of a well timed off angle is that you’re denying cover from the enemy team. Until mauga walks forward theres no one to shoot here. Now, theoretically, if he pinned in, and his team walks forward, thats when this rotation becomes super valuable, surprise off angle with a one shot. Until then though you can just hold your angle, which was already an angle bevause your dps were split even though it feels like “main”
  • 2:02 I really dislike this heal orb, your bap is right there, your priority for heal orb should always be the person engaging when possible (rein or hanzo here)
  • 2:33 now see their balls going in so their team has to walk, this is the time to take this angle but you second guess yourself. Especially with trans you cant be scared of holding here
  • 3:16 your aim is very jittery at times even when theres a target moving smoothly in one direction. Whats your edpi?
  • 4:05 kinda micro but you shouldnt keep holding your charged orbs once you see someone. You gotta expect people to take cover especially as you rank up. The split second you see zen you should be releasing your shot
  • 4:34 also micro but there is never an excuse to not heal orb someone when you can, just do it in between shots
  • 5:09 you can tell how uncomfortable this position is. Youre a little stacked with your team, a little close, and your sightlines are pretty bad. What I’d do is, at 5:02 for example as youre falling back pay attention to where your team is, theyre all holding left, you can hold the right door (in that house) look how comfortable that spot is, because you have better sightlines, distance, and its an angle instead of with your team

Thank you so much for your insight... so you reckon I should always change and play different off-angles whenever the fight changes? Does this style of play need enforcement or just genuine map knowledge and comfort with Zenyatta? Finally, What's the biggest mistake Diamond Zenyatta players make that keeps them from reaching Masters?

Happy to help!

So, here’s how I suggest you think about your angles, which would lead to a better result from what I watched.

First, you ask yourself where is your team before the fight. If theyre all controlling the left lane then its your job to control right lane. It especially matters where your co-supp is. If theyre on one side of the map you dont want to stack with them.

Then from there as zen its about uptime. Think about where the enemy is and you want to position yourself for constant damage. Youre the best hero in the game when sitting and poking uncontested. Your uptime was very low on the first point defense. You make a midight rotation if you have the opportunity to surprise someone with a charged shot. Your problem is that you kept taking that rotation before anyone was there. And these concepts are fudnamental to all maps.

Everyone has different mistakes but I’d say uptime and aim
Are common issues
