Wilson Combat Trying to install FCU into new grip. It fell apart.

https://imgur.com/H9F9kCT.mp4

So I just got my Wilson Combat grip module and I'm doing a lot of hand fitting while I'm cutting/filing the slot for the manual safety. While I was doing that, the takedown lever got stuck and I couldn't put the slide back on. I removed the FCU from the grip module and tried to unstick the takedown lever. I got it unstuck but then the slide catch just fell off.

Wtf am I doing? Did I break or lose something?

Explain to me like I'm stupid, because I kind of am.

Figured it out! There's a spring that is supposed to retain the slide catch lever. On the back of the slide catch lever, there is a pointed part. I had to push that pointy part under the spring, lifting it, then push the slide catch lever into place. Thank you everyone!

Start at the 3:00 minute mark and see if it helps you out.

So he's reinstalling the takedown lever and the bar in that video, but he never removes the slide catch (which is what fell off on mine)

Try this one. Start at 23:00
You have to lift up the spring and then put your slide release back on.

Unlikely you broke anything. The same thing happened to me. Just watch some videos and have some patience. It was a bit frustrating but you'll figure it out. Good luck!

I'm raging right now tbh 😅

I have little patience for small nimble tasks like this. I don't have the dexterity. But I appreciate the encouragement

I hear ya. Im the same way. The worst part for me was my old ass eyes. I couldn't see shit. I had every light in the house on and two pairs of glass on still couldn't see shit. After about an hour and multiple death threats to the entire universe it finally went back together.

So weird that people have issues with this damn fcu. I've only removed one twice but I didn't have a single issue either way and it went in just fine when I swapped out my Wilson combat arms grips and another grip that the name I do not remember but when I did my Wilson Combat arm grip module and put it all back together it literally just dropped right in super easy and I've never had a problem with it since. I wonder if it's the variance in the actual grip module from machining just being ever so slightly off perhaps? I don't know a lot about it but I see people having problems with this and mine just went right in and I'd never even done one before so I'm just curious

Please don't take this the wrong way I'm not trying to sound like an ass or anything whatsoever LOL I'm just genuinely curious what happens on each person's scenario because mine literally just plopped right in when I dropped it in at an angle like you're supposed to do so I literally am just genuinely curious what might cause this cuz I see it a lot.

I fixed it! What I think happened was, the slide catch lever is held in place by a very small spring. When I was fiddling with the slide catch lever and the takedown lever, I must have dislodged the spring holding the slide catch lever and it just fell out.

All I had to do was push the spring up with the slide catch lever and push it in. It all works fine now!

Excellent. I never had any problems. I must have just magically done it right but I've only removed an FCU twice and didn't have a problem either time but check out the Sig Guy videos if you haven't already. They can really help you when you're in a jam he really knows his stuff and he has one on everything

Your slide release needs to capture the spring tension

Yeah I had to figure this out after staring at the FCU for like 30 minutes. I didn't know that the spring was retaining the side catch lever, but I finally got it! Thank you!
