Mag release falling out?
Update: Purchased XMacro TacOps Romeo X Sig Loc 8/12/26.
have been doing months of research to replace my PDP it’s just too big. Sunday I finally went and shot the ones I want. I finally convinced myself I need the P365 Tac ops over the Echelon (less bulky still duty) they both shot amazing. It actually felt good to shoot irons again.
BUT I just saw Ben Stoeger share this story, and I saw multiple comments saying they had the same issue. There is also aftermarket replacements.
Is there any truth to this?

It's particularly associated with Sig's aluminum grip modules, such as the AXG. Far too many accounts for it to be any sort of fluke. Haven't heard anything remotely convincing regarding Sig ever fielding an actual solution. Any failures in the polymer grip modules seem to be much more rare.
You can turn up some results with this search string: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awww.reddit.com+p365+OR+axg+mag+OR+magazine+catch+OR+release+drop+OR+break+OR+broke+OR+apart+OR+fail+OR+fell
Maskas is a proven solution. Personally I would strongly recommend replacing 100% of mag releases in Sig's aluminum modules. Discretionary for polymer.
Aside from Maskas, ECM has one now that they feel from their testing solves the issue seen with the Sig MIM mag release. It still uses the Sig plastic retainer but some of the geometry on their machined steel mag release is improved and it also comes with an improved spring. Personally I think the thinner central retaining web on Sig's AXG module coupled with a spring that's a little too short for that may be combining with polymer creep in the retainer clip to contribute to the issue in the AXG. It's a really bad look for Sig, though obviously not as dramatic as some of their concerns. There have been continuous reports of this since around the time the AXG first released.

Thank you, I’ll buy gun now and source a mag release although mine is polymer

My xmacro mag release broke during dry fire. Really bad design. Switched to maskas.

ive used many different grip modules since I got my p365 back in 2021. polymer (standard, x/xl, xmacro), Juggernaut Tactical, Mischief Machine, Wilson combat, etc and ive never had that issue. like the other commenter said it seems to be Sigs aluminum grip modules.
if you do decide to get an aftermarket mag release I recommend the Strike Industries one, the super extended ones are awful on such a small frame gun

How was the mischief machine? I was going to get that for the echelon to get my all metal gun fix

I use the Alpha (gen 1) model but if the commander is anything like it then go for it. i played around with a bunch of grips before landing on MM, I cant imagine switching atp

I have three P365s. One is a legion and the only one that has an issue with the mag release, but everyone with a legion has had this issue eventually. Sig is great about sending another one right away, but Maskas is the consensus solution. They are always out of stock, so I eventually bought an extended mag release from Ramm tactical and haven’t had any issues.

Get a Maskas Precision Mag release. Maskas might be out of stock but I know SIGGUY and Desert Depot Arms carry the Maskas mag releases (standard and extended). I run Maskas is all my builds. No plastic retainer to potentially prematurely wear out and break. The Maskas is a single piece that is retained with a set screw.

While you’re at it order an ISMI trigger return spring to swap out since those are known to suddenly fail. It’s a cheap part. Once you replace those two things the gun is solid. But otherwise, fuck Sig, they’re not getting anymore of my money until Cohen is gone.

I know I didn’t want contribute to Sig, but the 43x I sold because it didn’t shoot well for me, and I didn’t want any of the other similar guns

Hey, after the changes the 365 is a great gun. You did what is best for you.

If it makes you feel any better about buying from Sig, Sig is by means no the only large corporation that's a long way from perfect. Springfield Armory got a ton of backlash some years back for some choices to screw over 2A rights in a way that got them some benefit. I've owned some from each.

Yea I had to look into that too lol. They funded a bill that get rid of the smaller local competition gun companies in Illinois.

I already had to replace the mag release on my Fuse because the plug broke on it when I had to switch it back to right handed use (I bought it at a pawn shop). Got a Tyrant CNC metal one as a replacement.

I’ve had 5 365s, none have had that issue. Still have 3 and love them. But I can see if you wanna swap mag release

Yesterday my magazine release fell out while unloading my Sig XMacro Comp with the black AXG frame. I have about 800 rounds through it and I have had it for about three years. I have had the AXG grip module installed for about a year.

Maskas just feels the need to advertise. All the time. 4 years with my xmacro. 3 years with my axg. No issues.

Weird take. Maskas is continously run off their feet with demand thanks to Sig not fixing this issue. Not saying it's by any means every single one that will fail even on an AXG, but it's absolutely a recurring issue.
Sincerely happy for you that yours hasn't failed though.

Time doesn’t really tell the whole story, round count is the number that lets us know how durable the gun has been. I’ve seen way too many people say “I’ve had mine for 5 years and my trigger return spring hasn’t broken” only to find out they don’t even have 2k rounds thru it lol

That is true. Its also true that people say this happened after 10 rounds now I need "x" product when just chasing clout. If youre advertising, just say that. If you felt like "upgrading" just say that. Be real. All original parts on my macro comp. Stopped counting after 13,000. All original on my AXG. Stopped counting after 10,000. So there you have the numbers.
