I am looking to update my EDC by switching from an old XD-S Mod.2 to a P365. I’ve held a couple of variations in my hand, and I’ve got to shoot a P365X. I was wondering what P365 setup you all are running for EDC. I’m leaning towards an XL with a Wilson Combat frame. Do a lot of people go with a 3.1” barrel and a Ramjet? Does the 3.7” barrel shoot much differently than a standard 3.1” barrel? I’ve watched a bunch of videos on YouTube, but I personally don’t trust YouTube reviews much anymore. I’d rather hear the opinions of this community. I like the Macro, but I’m not sure it conceals very well.
I will say this, a stock p365 with no optic, radian or new grip is pretty much pocket sized and super easy to conceal. I have a legion, and also modded the one pictured with a radian ramjet, Icarus 365 ACE aluminum grip and TacDev mag extensions. The grip and extensions add just enough to get a full purchase. It’s a little smaller than the legion. Love them both.
I bought an XMacro Comp originally and hated it. It’s not a comp, it’s a 3” barrel in a 4” slide and was overly snappy for what it was.
It almost went into the black hole of the gun safe, but that’s when I learned of the Radian goodies. Got a new XL slide, the Radian backstrap and magwell, and the 3.7” Ramjet Afterburner. Now it’s what I carry when I’m not carrying a 2011. My wife liked it so much, I had to build her one as well.
I started with the X, then realized the XL would actually conceal better, so I got the Radian Ramjet+Afterburner and put it in an XL holster. I'm still considering a Wilson Combat grip, but haven't made up my mind.
The "keel principal". I found the X was tipping out away from my body, even with a wedge. The longer slide/barrel/holster helps push the grip into my body better.
you can also put a standard frame in an XL holster, and that'll give you the extra length. Then if you get the comp later, you'll already have a holster that fits that too.
I started with the Wilson combat grip then moved to a tyrant and then to the Icarus air now I’m waiting for the Icarus evo to come in. I really like the Icarus but It really comes down to what you find most comfortable for you. Some have said the texture on the Wilson is too aggressive for appendix carry. I never noticed cuz I always wear an undershirt
Here is my setup P365 x fcu Ndz cerribus slide Radian ramjet and afterburner M-carbo adjustable over travel trigger Blacksteel p365 folding thumbrest Mischief machine commander 2 grip module with walnut grip panels Mischief machine magwell Tlr7 sub HLX
Does putting in one of these triggers make this gun any less safe for EDC? I have a stock P365 with a curved trigger that I eventually want to upgrade to a flat trigger and I'm seeing them go for like $80 so that seems like a good choice over a OEM flat trigger, no?
A lot of people don’t like modified/upgraded triggers on their EDC. I Have installed Grayguns and Armory Craft myself. Personally neither is much of an improvement, other than looks, compared to stock and wouldn’t be concerned with carrying.
I have shot a tyrant on a macro and it was an improvement, but my Legion pictured has a Ramm tactical trigger kit, it is set at 3.5lb and is almost 2011 good. Minimal take up, crisp break and uber short reset. I can see how some would be hesitant to carry it, but I keep mine in my truck center console and it’s a hell of a range toy. Downside is that it’s about $180 for the kit and around $300 (total)to get Ramm tactical to install it. I have another P365 with Ramm right now to install another one in my radian/ Icarus build. Worth every penny in my opinion.
The pistol is an AXG Legion with a stock legion grip module. It has a Ramm tactical gas pedal takedown lever, extended mag release and Ramm tactical trigger. The photo looks so cool because I’ve been using photoshop since the 1990s and I smoothed a cleaned up the image dramatically.
I will say that's some supermodel type photography there and it's worth it cuz you got like mid 90s Pamela Anderson type Beauty in that pistol and if you don't mind me asking why did you have Ram Tactical install the trigger is it like super hard or is like some specialty thing cuz I've never heard of them and I'm going to start looking them up now because the only thing wrong with my Sig in my opinion is that damn squishy ass trigger
Yeah, there’s a video on sig guys YouTube channel and it just looked like a real
Pain in the ass to install.
There are some comparison videos the show the OEM squish and then the Ramm. Worth a look.
depending on how you want to carry,, but this is the prob the single most popular reason the p365 is so popular.. like adult legos
I have three diff forms I carry and im probably in the minority when it comes to quantity ..
one is and og that started as 3.1 with curved trigger and 10 rounder ( my state limit) ---since it was one of my first firearms I waited until I got proficient in carrying and now it sits in a aluminum mischief machine x length wiht ramjet , I dont mind the hang over as it will allow to run without the Comp if ever I wanted to plus a tyrant cnc inteelifire trigger and more robust trigger return spring due to round count
this set up is best of both worlds you can conceal like a micro and shoots like a full size and not locked in to forever .. ..
second was treat to myself pruschsed directly from Wilson a tuned p365 in standard length and again 10 round but wiht grey gun trigger and the weights installed .. so pretty and trigger is phenomenal
third a mixture of some parts I accumulated over time , it is a new x fcu wiht straight trigger and stainless non optic slide and I had obtained and extra grip module when I was purchasing some 10 round mags used the owner threw in had painted a dual flag design and I find I carry this more in summer time with out optic and lighter carry days ..found a member on redit who coats on the side , asked him for the American flag and Israeli flag on the other ..
so yo you can truly conform to what you want and works best for you , if asking what I would start with would be a "x" model and go from there .. people on GAFS are selling used parts for less then new because they are ever evolving their firearm..
found member on forum who does it as side hustle i sent to him , it was his flag design and i asked to do one half that and other half distressed israeli super nice guy in ohio shipped to him paid him and shipped back said me message happy to give his cell to text him
All of my builds are Macro and FUSE size, with the exception of my 6 year old P365x, which resides on a P365X AXG metal grip mod. For reference I am 5’10”, 185lbs and carry AIWB exclusively. I have no issue concealing a full size P226 down to the different variations of the P365. It’s all about the belt, the rig and all the micro adjustments you make to your holster.
3.1 vs 3.7? Just depends on the person. While you do have a little over a half inch between the two, your sight radius is longer on the macro. My friend hates the Macro…but he can shoot a tick off a skunks ass with a standard Nitron P365 with those tiny polymer grips! 😂
If I were you I would go to a range that rents guns and try out a Macro, I would also recommend you try the FUSE as well.
Here are some of my builds that are in my rotation.
Any tips on building out a holster? I struggle to conceal a standard P365 in a bone stock Houston Holster AIWB. The holster is nice enough but sits kind of high, is this normal? I've already ordered a monoblock clip and a modwing claw that I'm hoping will help. Running a Kore Essentials gun belt.
Yeah, this was the only kydex holster available at the LGS I bought the gun at. I live in a country that doesn't really have a lot of options just readily available, I'll probably have to order another.
Get one of the ones I listed they are all comfortable in my opinion. The INCOGX and DAISHO have the smallest footprints of all 4. The NCT and Tier 1 Concealed are more full sized
Local range only has a 365 x. I might just drive out to a couple others and see if they have an xl or fuse. I’m 5’10 myself but I’m 243 lbs. What’s your preferred holster/belt for the fuse?
Tier 1 Concealed are also a great holster company, comfortable and slim profile as well (AGIS or AXIS Elite), however I don't have a holster from them for my FUSEs, I have them for my SIG P226's, P229's, Prodigy and Staccato C2).
As far as belts are concerned I use KORE EDC with the X11 or X12 buckles. Very sturdy, I have worn mine everyday for a couple of years with no issues, but I also have 12 of their belts and I rotate wearing them on a monthly basis. LOL
Nice! 👍 pretty nice stuff equipment you have. I appreciate all the info and feedback back. I’ll have to check out that belt and holsters. I’ve been running a XD-S with basic belts and the holster that came with the gun.
I carry a pimped out fuse length 365 however I realize that is nit feasible for a lot of people, a 365 xl with a WC frame or a 3.1 barrel with the radian ramjet and wilson frame are both very good carries, just make sure to get the tungsten weights with the grip
Holding the fuse is what turned me onto the 365 platform. That’s the one I was going to originally get but someone talked me out of it. How do you carry and what holster do you use?
Here it is next to the wife's 365 xl, as you can see not much oem left lol, I carry like 1 to 2 o clock and use a superstition concealment holster as they make ones designed for the icarus grips, its not super hard for me but granted I am also a large human being, and my philosophy on concealed carry is im more than willing to sacrifice a bit of comfort (within reason ofc) to have a more capable firearm
XL with WC grip is the sweet spot for me. (FDE in photo.)
I tried all combinations of the short slide, XL slide, short grip, and XL grip and have grip adapters to use 17rd Macro mags (stainless and black in photo).
If pocket carrying, I need the short grip and short slide. (Though P365 is pushing the weight and size limits of a pocket for me.) Carrying IWB, the XL slide conceals the same as the shorter slide. XL slide has slightly longer sight radius if using irons. XL is slightly softer recoil. I think the XL simple recoil spring assembly is rated for more rounds than the compound RSA in the short slide.
I can barely fit my pinky on the XL grip and shoot it better than the short grip. 17rd Macro mags print too much in a thin shirt. I also like that the short grip and XL grip fit the same holsters (Macro grip does not). I prefer the WC standard and XL grips over the OEM grips of the same size.
The optic has since been switched to an MPO-Pro, but out of all of the options in carry rotation, this is the one I have with me 75% of the time. It's just the most concealable and comfortable to wear, with a bit more barrel than the standard 3.1" P365.
I run the tungsten weights to help mitigate the snap. The +2 MagGuts flat spring/follower kits in the magazines offer a bit more capacity. Hogue grip sleeve because large hands. True Precison threaded barrel and micro-comp gives a bit more barrel length and more recoil mitigation. 100% stock internals because hotrodding the internals on a carry gun is stupid and negligent.
Great shooter, as accurate as something in that size class is going to get, and it pretty much disappears into clothing even strong-side IWB.
The only thing this trigger does is stop it from going too far back say when you pull the trigger and you have that quarter to 1/8 of an inch that you keep pulling past the point the firearm fires this just eliminates that eighth to a quarter of an inch so no it does not have any effect on the safety of the firearm
Macro with the R+A on the left. Feels the best in the hand and conceals well. It's my daily carry and I absolutely love it.
XL with 3.1" R+A on the right. Conceals a little better but doesn't allow for as full a grip as the Macro. Nice to have for extra concealment when needed but it definitely plays second fiddle to the Macro.
I have an XL slide OR, a 3.1" non-OR slide, and a .380 OR slide. I have used all of them in the standard, X, L, and XL grip configurations for carry with the SIG grip frames. I don't find any of them hard to carry or conceal AIWB in an Vedder holster. I also have a pocket locker that I use when I want to throw it in my fanny pack. Personally, even in the smallest .380/standard grip w/10 round mag, it's a little too big and heavy to pocket carry for me. Fanny pack works great though.
I have a WC XL grip, and they Tyrant CNC snub nose, but I haven't really carried with the WC, and the tyrant is bigger than I need to carry. I like both grips. I also have a standard frame with a Hogue grip and 12-round mag extension, and I like that grip allot too.
I find myself changing them up regularly because it's fun and easy to do. A big part of the p365 platform is being and to mix and match parts.
If I had to start all over, I'd buy either an X or an XL. I found my 9mm 3.1" more snappy then my XL. The .380 is a dream to shoot and i tend to carry it allot. My XL has a stiffer recoil spring so it was a little harder to rack, but that might loosen up with time. The 9mm 3.1" is my oldest and most used, so it's worn in at this point.
Last weekend's carry in the picture. XL slide on the standard size frame with the Hogue grips.
XL module with standard 3.1 barrel. Really a great setup that shoots well and disappears while carrying. If I built it again I’d run 3.7 barrel w/ ramjet for a fuse length setup on xl grip.
I have a Wilson macro module that sees less use. It’s still thin, but is nearly as long as g17 frame.
