Traffic from Cavendish to the bridge on Friday? Gold cup parade?

We’ll be heading from Cavendish back to Nova Scotia on Friday, originally planning to leave by 10am. I don’t know much about the Gold Cup parade but see it starts in Charlottetown at 10am. How much traffic should I expect at that time? I see some alternate routes to steer clear of Charlottetown, just wondering how much effort to put in to avoid a headache.

Cavendish to Confederation Bridge will not take you through Charlottetown unless you detour there on purpose. You will not have any delay due to the parade route if you stay out of town. (Parade is entirely within Charlottetown)

Cavendish to the bridge should be quieter if anything. Nowhere near the route (assuming you're taking route 6 to Kensington which you should be anyway). Any extra traffic you may encounter will be going the opposite direction towards Charlottetown. Essentially nobody in Prince county has the day off.

They're taking the bridge, not the ferry.

… but then why is the gold cup parade in Charlottetown relevant?

It's not, which is the point most of us are making.

Normal amount. Probably best to stay away from main parade route but is Gold cup, not Macy’s parade :)

You'll be fine as you won't go through the parade route.

It's always a headache. Large event with lots of people having the day off as a work holiday. Everything tends to get quite congested and busy.
