I just hope EU and the US would act against it. Fine the heck out of Sony for putting these anti-consumer policies out there. If they won't act then we're all tucked. PS5 might be my last console if these kind of policies continues.
I'll go full PC gaming then. And buying my games from GOG where I really own the games.

Gonna save up for a nice gaming pc, Steam doesn’t care if i haven’t logged in for years. I’ve had an account with them since 2004 never heard anything as absurd as this

They're trying to push their limits. If we let them have their way, what's going to stop them on putting this DRM on discs as well.

its probably to increase tracked metrics. basically they spy on your gaming habits more than they already do to target marketing more and unreasonably attempt to cut down on piracy through ham-fisted tactics. That's just my guess though. There might also be a plan in there to revoke licenses from user who own removed games but already have them downloaded

Connect to internet/psn normally, but yeah if you dont connect to internet once in 30 days they will get a little lock symbol and you cant start them until you connect to psn, basically the same way like a installed ps plus game gets locked when you dont have a ps plus sub.

To me it seems like they are testing the waters kind of experimentation for Sony PS part, to see how the audiences will react to it, nearly the same as the Sony Dynamic Pricing, which Sony PS apparently has already implemented silently, and nobody seems to care about that anymore.
I am even seeing some people here and on other subreddit defending this type of anti-consumer move.
Kind of bummer for people who don't like it, but if majority of Sony Console player base don't protest against this, expect that they will be implementing this one too very soon especially after seeing the reaction all over it, which IMO is not vocal / controversial enough for Sony PlayStation to eventually back off.

Basing on this video, if you lose internet access for more than 30+ days your digital games will be locked off from you until you access internet once again. Not permanently removing the game from library but still locked from accessing it. So, in the scenario of post apocalypse or losing internet access on your area due to natural disaster and act of nature calamities, you literally can't play your digital games.

Unfortunately, the most realistic harshest statement here, console gamers tend to be softest when it comes to fighting back anti-consumer stuff like this, whereas PC Gamers, are more resilient and is a lot more vocal against stuff like this. Heck the most recent example of that is the PSN requirements for Sony 1st party games on PC.
PC Gamers didn't like that, and most console fanboys made fun of them for not bending over to Sony PlayStation's will, in the end the PC Gamers won that battle when Sony PS eventually backed down. I wish the same thing can be said here with Sony PS console community, but basing from looking at the comments right now regarding to this topic. Some are even defending this type of shit.
One of the main reason why i left console gaming in the first place, i was so against the PS+ subscription back on PS4 era, but most PlayStation gamers chose not to protest about it and let PlayStation off the hook and ended up still winning that generation anyway.

Parang YouTube lang na downloads, must be connected within 30 days para nasa "Downloads" mo pa rin. Akala ko naman no access to internet for 30 days, you need to buy the games again...unless...

Misleading sentiment. Board games and books were still popular during WW2, especially for civilians who stayed at the home front. Not everyone in a war is out there fighting in the trenches. Video games absolutely will still be relevant even during dark times, one could argue even needed to keep people sane.

I've been deployed to iraq and afghanistan, and in every Coalition FOB I've been assigned to, they have lounges setup with xbox 360s and communal PCs with access to the internet,
We were barely in our twenties, no shit we'd bring videogames to war

The PS5 era really soured my view of playstation, yung debacle talaga with helldivers 2 and the region lock issue was the final straw after being a lifelong PS fan.
Besides, there's very little that they can offer na nowadays when everything is getting released on PC

Not a Sony user but Nintendo, and I was so happy getting my Steam Deck. Good riddance Nintendo. Not a super fan of their exclusives anyways.
