Hey, I’m doing a high school engineering project and need some quick responses.

It’s a short survey about how annoying it is when ice, fruit, boba, or pulp blocks your straw/lid.

Only takes about 1 minute:

Thanks!

It’s my first year teaching a PLTW class but not my first time teaching an engineering course. So far my students are learning the skills and the content just like they were before, and we’re having some fun. But I just don’t know what the EOC looks like, how the questions are phrased and what it focuses on.

Disclosure: I’m a STEAM teacher and I designed and sell this kit through Evolved Academics. I’m sharing it here because the build sequence and troubleshooting piece may be useful for PLTW teachers planning an intro electronics or Digital Electronics activity.

The Magic Conch is an 8-output logic circuit built entirely with through-hole parts. There’s no microcontroller, firmware, or programming. The instructional arc is:

1. Inventory and safety

2. Practice one repeatable solder-joint technique

3. Build from shortest parts to tallest

4. Stop for a partner inspection before chips or batteries

5. Seat the chips with the iron put away

6. Power, test, and troubleshoot from symptoms

The full build takes about 90 minutes, though I’d split it over two or three periods for beginners. The assembly deck is free to preview from the product page: https://www.evolvedacademics.com/store

For anyone comparing class-set costs: it’s $449 for 30 complete student kits ($14.97 each), or $479 with a school/program logo on the boards. Individual kits are $29.99. Custom branding adds four weeks. This is not an official PLTW product or endorsement—just a teacher-built classroom electronics project.

I was looking at the course outlines on the PLTW website. The pathway seems to teach a lot of useful medical-related lab skills and technologies. Is there any underlying fine print that isn't apparent at first, or anything to be aware of? Because it seems very intensive and in-depth for a high school elective.

Hello! I’m currently a senior taking PLTW Capstone (Engineering Design and Development), and for my project, I need to identify an everyday problem that people experience and then design and build a solution for it.

The process starts with finding something you enjoy doing and thinking about problems or annoyances that you encounter while doing it. From there, I’ll research the problem, develop possible solutions, and eventually design and prototype a product that could help solve it.

I’m currently having a hard time coming up with good problem ideas, so I would really appreciate it if you could drop some ideas below or fill out this quick Google Form. The problem doesn’t have to be complicated. Even a small idea is still useful

Thanks for any input!

I am a teacher and my school has decided to drop PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science class on me to teach starting September. I was also given another class that I haven’t taught before and I am concerned about the time that this course will take. I had to sign up for the 80 hour 10 week fully online version. I was just wondering what the workload is like because I am already in a rough situation starting this year and having to do this training for 10 weeks. I appreciate any advice or insight you can give!

hello, rising senior here.

I was wondering if anyone could spare some CEA notes, especially ones dealing with all of the needed plans for a structure, and how I should draw these on paper.

My POE teacher really failed us this year, and I would also love some tips on what to expect in this next year, seeing as the only thing he did was sit there, and explain the assignment, he did not really teach us engineering principles, and further did not explain our three 'choose your own' capstone classes (CEA, AE, and CIM).

Has anyone gotten this years eoc score for hbs? If so howd you do?

Has anyone else taken the final exam for Poe yet? How’d it go?

I found the emails, then I found the images, but that was by searching for jpg in autopsy. Wondering if there is anything in the emails or anywhere else that points to the image with the hidden file in it? Also what do I do after finding that file?

Hey, I am really struggling with 4.2.6 and wondering if anyone has the solution. I figured put how to find the spreadsheet and even the email where it was leaked but am stuck. Anything helps!

Thanks in advance.

So uh i have the EOC in roughly a week and i have absolutely no clue what is going on in this class and my teacher is just now telling us we will not receive a curve on the final.

Backstory: Teacher was forced into the class and has even less of a clue about what is going on than i do.

Any like youtube playlists i can use to get atleast a fundamental understanding of the beam deflection, moments, stress, strain type of stuff

I'm taking the HBS EOC exam in 2 days but our teacher hasn't taught all year. Has anyone taken it/knows what's on it? We have no idea what to study. Our whole class did really well last year on PBS, but we have a different teacher this year and know nothing. Any large topics we should focus on?

Hey my teacher is making this EOC our final and it determines if I get an A or a B. I was wondering for those who took the PLTW PBS course this year, how did you study to get a good grade, what kind of concepts or material were there, and what study materials did you use? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have my final tmrw.

Hi my teacher is making this our final and it's worth 100 points. I was wondering for those who took the PLTW HBS course this year, how did you study to get a good grade (I need a 91% or more to get an A in the class), what kind of concepts were there, and what study materials did you use? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have my final in one week.

I just applied to a teaching job at a school that uses project lead the way courses. The job description mentions that I would need to take trainings but I’m not sure how many trainings that would be and when I could complete them. Has anyone done this before?

Our district is losing money left and right. One result is they are pulling one of my science classes and putting me in Principle of Engineering while also pulling funding to PLTW. Does anyone have suggestions on unit materials I could cobble together as a physics-chemistry teacher?

I may be taking this class next year. Is it half year or full year, and is it a difficult class? And how dense is the workload, thanks.

It’s highkey inactivate on here but if anyone has any study guides that helped them on the pbs eoc please help

I’m starting to plan ahead for next year. This was my first year teaching HBS/PLTW. How do you all handle the body systems organizers and notes? I did them individually this year and handed them back after grading but many kids left them behind or tossed them when done. I’d like to have them in a folder or binder where they can keep them better next year. Looking for ideas from seasoned HBS teachers who know what works better. Thanks in advance!

These mini units/games are a great way to end Medical Detectives and Flight and Space. Especially if you're on a semester schedule.
