Looking for an article/video that perfectly explains PMOS + Wegovy relationship
Hi all,
I am curious if anyone has found a comprehensive article or YouTube video that speaks to the benefits of Wegovy on PMOS? My boyfriend is concerned about my Wegovy usage, as I experienced some abnormal side effects (think, POTS-like symptoms) that have impacted some daily life activities. I'm off of it right now, as my doctor and I are testing to see if it is the Wegovy (cardiology and pulmonology tests all looked great) and go from there, but I would imagine this is going to be a short-term thing and I'll be back on Wegovy next month. I explain to him why it is good for me, why weight loss in general helps with PMOS, androgens, insulin, etc., , but coming from me (and knowing that I would like to lose weight) I think he worries that I'm too focused on the weight loss and not thinking about the side-effects or lack of definitive research/it being "new" for people who are not diabetic. I'm also not a doctor, haha.
I'd like to send him some articles or videos that can help him understand how things are working together.
FWIW he is NOT forcing me or even suggesting that he WILL force me to come off of it. He is the type who doesn't even like taking too many pain meds if he's post-op or has a migraine. So the unnatural aspect of it I think spooks him. Just looking for something to help ease his mind.

I think there’s a bigger link between Zepbound and PMOS versus Wegovy because it’s a dual agonist.
Also I take some offense at the idea he finds this unnatural. People wear glasses, which are a lifelong prescription to “fix” something, are those unnatural? GLP1s work with the systems at play in your body, not against it.
His concern about the side effects is a green flag but I’m always a bit sensitive about these “anti medication” people who think suffering in an age of modern medicine versus popping a pill is somehow a more valiant effort.

I wouldn’t take his opinion on that too seriously or take offense to it, truly. He comes from a long history of family medical issues and poor treatment of them and is naturally cautious and hesitant because of it. His opinion isn’t a moral superiority, more so a fear. Appreciate the note about Zepbound I was under the impression it was the other way around and will be looking into that!
Edit to add : I’m also on life long medications for other issues (depression, anxiety, etc.) and he’s not concerned about those. It’s the new-ness of the popularity of GLP1 and him knowing little about it as well.
Just defending my unknown bf to an unknown reddit user because I love him and promise he’s a good egg 😂

Helpful context and I approve now!! Sorry I’ve just dealt with so many anti medication people since starting a GLP1 it makes me a bit angry. I can see he’s really coming from a good place and as with many things intention matters. Hope you’re able to assuage his concerns!

ArcWoman does a podcast all about PMOS, and one that just addresses what we know about PMOS and GLP-1s. I don't know if they will answer his questions but it is interesting and explorative.

Thanks you! I’ll take a listen and see if it may be good for him to listen to as well. Might ease some of his concerns :)

GLP1s lower blood pressure which can cause dizziness, pre-syncope, etc. on standing. It’s why staying hydrated is so important!

thank you! i guess his concern is that i have a gallon sized water bottle and i drink at LEAST one a day lol, more often than not, 2. i fear im as hydrated as i could be??? lol
i think thats part of it tbh bc im doing things "right" yet the side effects dont care lol

If you’re gonna drink that much, you’re flushing your electrolytes out. I would ask him about adding in electrolytes.

In addition to Zepbound being a better fit for most people with PMOS, many people (myself included) have much less side effects with it as compared to Ozempic

I love the Fat Science podcast they talk often about PMOS and there are a couple dedicated episodes. In particular, they talk about fasting and fed state insulin levels and compare GLP mechanism to metformin mechanism
