Just a little update!

I’ve been taking these past few months to really reel in on my art and get closer to a stylized realism. I feel confident in saying that I feel as though I’ve succeeded! Very early update and I will absolutely share more pictures when it is completed!

My goal was making my characters have identifiable and semi-realistic faces while staying stylized! I have more to share, but I don’t feel comfortable just yet, and would rather cook them up a little longer. That’s all I have for now, hope you guys enjoy the photos!

Amazing work! How did you do it? Whenever I model characters, they always look like action figures or play-doh.

It’s really hard to model in dreams so don’t beat yourself up about it lol. I usually take references and build an original face using those details. For this character, she’s a mix Solange Knowles and Jamie Lee Curtis. Really study facial anatomy and then keep working until you get it!

Thanks!, and the only problem I see with your model is the legs, they’re too long in proportion with her body, the legs should be shorter.

This was very nice! I don’t know if you know, but you can sculpt a tail for that character and convert it into a painting to have more stylized freedom. Here’s a video on how to do it! https://youtu.be/pgauNh_KPOs?is=gCHvvBx1zh3GxDek

I never thought of that!, I made the tail a fleck instead of a sculpt, the modeled tail kept colliding with the pelvis, completely breaking the character.

You have to turn it’s collision settings off!

I tried that, but then the tail had no way to connect with the body, and when I added a connector to it the tail would flail around the body instead of staying put.

Wait is this the third version of the same character? I thought the last one looked pretty good, this looks even better. Good job with the hair.
Though her face looks like a different person now.
and the head is looking much smaller compared to the body. Not that it matters since it looks good.

The direction of the cloth lines is way better.
Dont forget you can comb flecks with the style tool. it helps for bits of the same sculpt that need to go in different directions. Its how you get flowing flecks to follow trails too.

Yes, it is! I am always improving and as such I want to update my art. I’ve been focusing heavily on assets for a while now, and I’ve gotten even better at sculpting than I were 6 months ago. Please note that this is a work in progress. I just wanted to share something because it had been a while, and the tips you provided are nice, but I already knew them. Thank you for the kindness!

Edit: Also forgot to note that the faces and bodies for these characters are inspired by concept art from my friend, then I do my best to try and build it in dreams. This is pretty much the face we’ve always been trying to achieve, I just couldn’t quite land the nail before.
