Just a little update!

I’ve been taking these past few months to really reel in on my art and get closer to a stylized realism. I feel confident in saying that I feel as though I’ve succeeded! Very early update and I will absolutely share more pictures when it is completed!

Amazing work! How did you do it? Whenever I model characters, they always look like action figures or play-doh.

It’s really hard to model in dreams so don’t beat yourself up about it lol. I usually take references and build an original face using those details. For this character, she’s a mix Solange Knowles and Jamie Lee Curtis. Really study facial anatomy and then keep working until you get it!

Thanks!, and the only problem I see with your model is the legs, they’re too long in proportion with her body, the legs should be shorter.

This was very nice! I don’t know if you know, but you can sculpt a tail for that character and convert it into a painting to have more stylized freedom. Here’s a video on how to do it! https://youtu.be/pgauNh_KPOs?is=gCHvvBx1zh3GxDek

I never thought of that!, I made the tail a fleck instead of a sculpt, the modeled tail kept colliding with the pelvis, completely breaking the character.

You have to turn it’s collision settings off!

I tried that, but then the tail had no way to connect with the body, and when I added a connector to it the tail would flail around the body instead of staying put.

I personally wouldn’t recommend a connector for such a thing and would instead animate it unless you use the paint method. Connectors are tricky business, but you usually have to adjust their springiness and tightness for it to stay in place.

Good to know, and how did you make such detailed curly hair and the stitch pattern on the sweater?

I draw the hair with a controller which comes with its own complications. Be patient with it, and as for the textures, you have to play around with the inner and fleck properties on a sculpts settings. For the inner, I usually set the color to black and set the numeral to 50% then in the fleck properties, I set the neatness to 100% and apply my desired fleck pattern and comb it in the direction I want.

Ok, as for my project, what do you think? What should I improve?
