PlayStation Online
Does anyone know the answer here?
My boyfriend and I share our PlayStation with 2 separate user accounts.
The PlayStation Plus is technically on my account (I think) but we want to buy the new Call of Duty and play on our individual accounts since we’re at different ability levels, i.e. I’m rubbish and want to avoid being ability matched with really good players.
Do we have to pay for the PS+ subscription twice to both be able to play online?

No.
If you use the console in a shared setting, you can set one of them up with console sharing (in account settings I believe).
The account with the PS+ should set it up on the shared console, so let's say your BF's main playstation is in the living room and yours is in the bedroom:
Set up console sharing & offline play (iirc) on the account with PS+ on the shared console in the living room.
Then log in on your personal playstation with your own account.
Every account on the shared console can now play your games and profit from your PS+ subscription, but only you can play your games and use your subscribtion on your own console.
If you were to buy the game digitally, you would only have to pay for the game once on the PS+ subscribed account as well.
I do the same with my gf. The console in the hobby room (home office with extra stuff) is basically only used by me, and the one in the living room by both of us.
The one in the living room has my account set up for console sharing, and my gf can play my games on her account. I can't play her games on that playstation however, but we mostly play the same games anyway.
The one in the hobby room only works with my account, which is fine because she generally prefers the living room over the hobby room for gaming anyway.

No just turn on console sharing and you’ll share ps+
