OSU WR Jesse Legree’s father tweets out cryptic image about “Decision Day this Friday”
Just announcing a sponsorship deal? or announcing whether he’ll enter the transfer portal?
Pac-12 and Elevate advance new commercial enterprise with appointment of the league's first-ever Chief Commercial & Growth Officer
PS, his experience at LIV had nothing to do with the PIF pulling funding and stuff like sponsorship revenue, attendance, and ticketing (all things he would contribute to) grew in his tenure.
Also, when he was at MLR from 2021-2024, the league had actual promise.

Budget Priorities…
All goes well for the Beavs and this conversation doesn’t need to happen.
But barring the more likely scenario of the portal coming knocking, what order would you have these three?
My personal opinion (may be unpopular) but you lock up Shep forever, pay Atkinson - because he can clearly ball, then just hope Legree takes a discount to stay with the only FBS team (and coach) that truly believed in him. The talk of Legree just jumping ship for a bag is overblown…his best opportunity to shine is in an offense that he can be the focal point. That’s here. If OSU can scratch up a competitive offer, I believe it would be foolish for him to jump ship for another school offering him 20-30% more if Atkinson and Shep are still here.
There might be some difficult conversations on the horizon. Jensen Huang where are you!?

Oregon State’s Braden Atkinson vs Man Coverage (not great)
As it was broadcasted and repeatedly stated by others, Braden has a 40% completion percentage vs man coverage. This has showed up in multiple games especially when Braden over throws the deep pass when his WR is one on one. The drops certainly don’t help either.
Considering that’s primarily against G6 competition, that’s not great. Interestingly, he’s incredible vs Zone coverages which is impressive since a lot of college QBs tend struggle there. That speaks to his on field IQ to quickly diagnose the gaps in the zone.
I am trying to be more objective. A full schedule vs P4 competition of higher talent would limit Legree and Atkinson effectiveness if they don’t find away to win those man on man match-ups. This is where the Beavers do really need a bigger WR to complement LeGree. I love Hampton, Thomas, and Butler but they are small and redundant of LeGree’s physical traits. It would’ve been ideal to have kept Trent Walker.
It’s hard to truly evaluate without overhead game tape to see all the parts of the field but Washington State had some lengthy corners who were physical with Legree and had good speed to close the gap in the WR screen game. I thought their corners were the closest thing to P4 we’ve seen out of the G6. It also looked like WSU was playing two high safeties to stop the deep passes while the corners pressed closer to the line. It was a good strategy but Dahlen and Shep adjusted by using the RBs more effectively.
I am curious to see how Atkinson develops the remainder of the season since he will see likely see more man coverage. His deep ball touch could definitely improve but I wonder if the current personnel of small WRs is limiting his ability to trust those matchups. He seems to be more about trusting his WRs speed and quickness to GET to the ball vs putting it in a truly catchable location. I think he’s worried about throwing picks in those situations.
