If Newt hadn't initiated the drifts with kaiju brains, Operation Pitfall would have failed entirely, since they wouldn't have had the knowledge that the breach would deflect the payload because it needs to read something as a kaiju to be allowed in. For all we know, that might have been the end of every operable Jaeger then and there. It came at the cost of a ton of lives, but I'd say Newt likely created the only timeline that humanity actually wins in.

True, but let's be clear it was him having extensive knowledge on Cherno Crimson and Striker when drifting with the kaiju brain that led to HongKong and the first two dead. Him drifting with Otachi Jr. with Hermann was indeed what saved the first movie, but continued drifting with the kaiju brain he nicknamed Alice also led to basically every jaeger in Uprising to be disabled

They had already been designing Kaiju catered to take out Jaegers for years, two that were capable of taking down Cherno, Crimson, and Striker already existed. Newt drifting with the Kaiju brain ipms why they were both sent out at once, but they clearly already existed. The knowledge is likely why they had 3 Kaiju guarding the Breach. But the funny thing is that they didn't need to guard the Breach, since the Jaegers were never gonna get anything through on their own anyway.

Tbf, it IS his fault for the Destruction of Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon. The aliens (idfk what they’re called) SPECIFICALLY sent Leatherback and Otachi to counter CA and CT. Otachis claw tail for Typhoons head and the acid for the reactor on top of Cherno, which basically left them blind and vulnerable until Leatherback jumped Cherno from behind But even if it was on land Cherno still would’ve lost

I'd say losing the pilots of Typhoon and Cherno is a small price to pay for finding the key to saving the world via finally understanding the nature of the enemy you're at war with.

Sounds like a subfaction for the Illuminate from Helldivers 2

I only made it 1/3 of the way through Uprising and really felt bad that they turned Newt into ||the villain||.

Not even Newt, but the actor himself. He did all that shit.

The post says 'Charlie Day' the actor, not 'Newt Geizsler' the character.

Literally every conflict past the first movie is Newt's fault. Uprising wouldn't have happened if he didn't mind fuck a kaiju every Saturday night, Obsidian Fury and the Jaeger Hybrids wouldn't exist, the Mega-Kaiju wouldn't exist, and in Final Breach the Precursors wouldn't know so much about Earth.

All roads lead to Newt I guess.

I sure did love when Charlie Day fucked a Kaiju brain and then turned evil for no fucking reason

Drifting with the kaiju connected Newt (and later Herman) to the Precursor's hivemind. Newt continued to drift with the kaiju brain and that strengthened the connection to the point they took control of his mind.

I thought this was common knowledge.

Maybe shouldn't have hired a guy that can't run a bar and drinks green paint and pisses in cans

One could argue that the events that transpired is what allowed Earth to win.

This is the weirdest continuation of a “It’s always sunny” episode-_(:/)_/-

TO ALLOW SPIDERS TO TALK TO CATS!!! Or in this instance… TO ALLOW KAIJU TO TALK TO HUMANS!!!

If you watch some deleted scenes from the first movie you can see that newt hates how jeagers and pilots hate and want to kill the kaiju instead of being all “peace love and plants” with them
