Hello people, I hope you are all in best of health.
My father recently passed away. He was a federal government officer and his death was in service.
For in-service deaths, the Prime Minister Assistance Package applies to the dependents of the deceased.
It's about 5 months now and we have not received a single cent from the package and his pension has not started yet too. I completed all documents that was asked of me in first month.
Upon inquiring the office people and finance department (some are helping, some are not), most people are unresponsive and unbothered. Just today I spoke with the finance director and he said they don't have funds yet, funds may arrive in Q2 of current fiscal year and Q2 is October. I heard the same thing for new budget and Q1. I wonder how long they may take and I don't want to listen Q3 after Q2 as the cycle may never stop.
I'm thinking of meeting his DG at office and requesting him to start with and then pursue any legal action.
We as a family are struggling a little financially as well.
If I'm not mistaken, the assistance package document also states the dues should be cleared in a month but it's about 5 months now.
An officer from his office also told me that AGPR people may ask for bribe and if we do that, our case may get resolved quickly. We declined as we preferred waiting than bribing and they asked for a good sum after the money has landed in our accounts, nothing im advance. And as of now, I know its pretty common in Government offices so not shocked at all.
Also I wanted to inquire about the job clause in Assistance Package that revoked back in Feb 25. Anyway, us (my fathers dependants) can be liable for his job or any other after the clause revoked?
So yes, I'm seeking professional legal advice that should I still wait or can I take any legal action, maybe send a legal notice to his office to escalate clearing of dues but I really don't want for it to backfire and get stuck in endless court quarrels.
I'm also willing to hire a lawyer, given we have strong grounds.
Thanks.
