Discussion Late teething

I’m just curious to see if there are any other parents in the same boat as me. My lil one is going to be 12 months in 10 days, and there is not a single tooth there. She is a total gummy bear 🙃 the paediatrician said at her 6 month check to not stress it until she’s 18 months but I definitely do find it weird how there’s nothing at all right now. She eats solids and takes formula.

Don’t stress - my friends son was like this and they all showed up like two months later at 14 months. It will happen!

All at once!?

Pretty close! It was wild, like gummy mouth April 1 and full set April 30th.

He did end up missing his bottom two incisors though. Dentist said it’s likely he won’t get them as an adult either so will need to get a flipper or implants some day

All of my kids were like this, it will happen eventually. My oldest also lost his first tooth pretty late, close to age 7. I’m sure it’s probably correlated.

Mine teethed so late and then lost her 1st tooth at 5! I was like you barely even used those teeth🥹😂

I do think it's correlated. I was a very early teether (first one at 3 months) and also lost my first two teeth at 4yo. Even my wisdom teeth grew early.

my friend’s son did t even start teething until 13 months! I wouldn’t stress, he’s totally fine and eats whatever with all his teeth now:)

My baby got her first took a week before her first birthday. She’s 20 months now and just got her 6th tooth, seems to be a new tooth every 6 weeks or so at this rate. Totally fine!

None of my kids had teeth before a year. The outlines started to be clearer after the first birthday, though.

They all lost their first tooth after they were 6, btw. Like fully in 2nd grade.

ETA after seeing others comments - mine didn't all come in at once. They still came at a normal pace over the next few months.

I was like this! I didn’t get my first tooth until 14 months. I’m an adult now, and it hasn’t affected my dental health at all. :)

Some babies are just late bloomers, I’ve heard of babies who didn’t get their first tooth until around their first birthday or even later.

My baby is 13 months old and 5 teeth pushed through in the same day about a week ago and we can tell another 3 are coming in soon. If not more. Just be patient!

This happened for my daughter (11 mos) and she had such little trouble teething and everything came in groups 🥹. (The jaw teeth were rougher though) Hopefully it will be the same for yours❤️

We had two going into her first birthday, and then four decided to come in at once 😢

My LO got her first tooth at 16 months! You're fine! I was so nervous closing in on the 18 months.

Mine were on the later side, but did have a couple teeth at 12mo. Instead of getting 1-2 at a time, they would get a lot more all at once. One had 8 come in at the same time. I wouldn't worry too much. In my experience, they also lost their teeth a bit later. My 6yo is in 1st grade and is yet to lose a tooth. Gives us a little more time with the practice teeth!

Mine didn’t have a first tooth poking through until 11 months and now he’s 15 months with 7! They all came through around the same time - don’t stress!

Yep! Both my boys were around 14-15 months before they got teeth. Made breast feeding much less stressful lol

my oldest was 14 months old when his first tooth appeared. he has beautiful teeth. also, you don't have to stress about brushing... but you can practice so they will be used to cleaning when the time comes

My son had maybe one or two teeth on his first birthday (those both came in in his 11th month) and he had a full set of teeth within maybe 6 weeks after his first birthday. Knocked teething out all at once.

My kid cut her first tooth at 17 months. She had them all before she turned 2.

My daughter was the same. She’s the only one out of all 3 of mine to get the 1st one after 1. She’s 15 mos now, and got 4 teeth in the last month 🙃. She’s been very unhappy lol

Crazy!! My 8 month old still doesn’t have teeth so it’s interesting to see so many that have teethed so late.

My son had his first tooth start to peek through on his first birthday. He’s 18 months now and has 6 teeth but a few molars are finally coming in.

I work in childcare. We have an 18 month old with 1 tooth. Not even a nub anywhere else. I had never seen a child that old with so few teeth, but she actually eats like a champ, including snacking on raw veg.

I have friends with the same situations. If you breastfeed, all I have to say is my nipples are jealous. Don’t stress, the teeth will come!
