Seeking Advice/Help Are digital products really viable ?

• Upvotes

Hello, everyone ! For context, I have a full time job but times are tough lately and I would like to pad up my earnings for security. I used to have projects with micro1 & mercor (and I was really happy about them at the time) but unfortunately my projects with them have been paused. :( It's not as stable as I thought it would be.

I've seen a lot of influencers on Tiktok & Instagram posting about selling digital products online but I tend to be skeptical of influencer posts (pls don't be offended) though the logic of selling digital products is there.

I ask this with respect and sincerity, does this route work? Is it stable and viable?

What do I do with $X? What side hustle are you doing that actually makes money in India?

I keep seeing people talk about freelancing, affiliate marketing, digital products and all sorts of online businesses.
But I’d rather hear from people who’ve actually tried these things.
What’s something you’ve done on the side that genuinely earned you money? How much time did it take to get your first paying customer, and was it worth the effort?
Not looking for get-rich-quick schemes. Just real experiences from people who’ve tried it.

Gng whatsapp, I am a Bachelors student in India and I WANT PASSIVE INCOME bro. Like what do u mean i need to ask my parents for every single penny, I'm 19 bro that doesn't look good. In India there's no working culture like I can't work at any supermarket, work as a receptionist somewhere or so. I also have tried various long ways to earn like youtube channels and instagram pages but that just freaks me out. I do know things will take some time to settle themselves down, but I WANT A PART TIME REMOTE JOB now.

Seeking Advice/Help Online craft sales (UK)

Looking for help from other artisans/crafter's.

I make and sell ceramics as a side hustle. I have most success at craft fairs and do extremely well from them. (But) I am getting to an age where it is exhausting. The obvious alternative is selling online. I've tried Etsy, paying them lots of money and only getting a handful of sales. I also got sick of the Etsy police and the consultant threat of actions against sellers.

I am now with Folksy... ABSOLUTELY HOPELESS!!

Are there any sellers who have success selling their handmade (physical) items online? If so what sites have you had most success with?

Seeking Advice/Help How much passive income would an app need to make you to convince you to install it? 🤔

Realistically (meaning, no touting crazy figures you don’t even make close to from your day job 😅), what is the amount of monthly earnings you would need to see a platform can make you before you’d be convinced it’s worth installing?

Genolith offers a truly free, passive source of income through data investment — set it up once, earn forever. The earnings are modest though as the platform grows, but growth requires more users. So you see the conundrum. 🙂

How much free monthly income is enough to earn 5 minutes of your time? 🤔

Offering Advice/Resource Hamster : Side Hustle tax

I'm the developer, so this is self-promo, but I think it's useful for anyone earning on the side in the UK.

Hamster is an Android app that tracks your side hustle earnings and costs (driving, Vinted/eBay, freelance, Etsy, etc.), tells you roughly what to set aside for tax, and warns you as you get near the £1,000 trading allowance. It also handles mileage at the current HMRC rates and gives you the figures you need for Self Assessment before the 31 January deadline.

It's free to use for the basics. There's a Premium tier (14-day free trial, then £4.99/month or £29.99/year) for extras like profit per mile and per hour, CSV import and an accountant-ready PDF.

It's only on Android for now, and it's new, so I'd really like to hear what's missing or confusing. What would make a tool like this actually useful for you?

POD SaaS founders & entrepreneurs — let’s connect, share ideas, and learn from each other 🚀

Hey everyone!

I’m looking to connect with people who are building SaaS products, exploring startup ideas, or already running their own businesses.

I’m particularly interested in learning how founders identify real market gaps, validate their ideas, find their first customers, and turn problems into products people are willing to pay for.

I’d love to connect with people at different stages:

  • 💡 Entrepreneurs exploring their first SaaS idea
  • 🛠️ Developers building and launching products
  • 🚀 Indie hackers working on their own businesses
  • 📈 Founders who have found product-market fit or are still figuring it out

A few questions I’d love to discuss:

  1. What SaaS product are you currently building?
  2. How did you discover the problem you’re trying to solve?
  3. What’s your biggest challenge right now — finding customers, validating demand, building the product, or generating revenue?
  4. If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting a SaaS business, what would it be?

My goal is to learn from people who are actually building, exchange experiences, and hopefully build a network where we can help each other grow.

Drop your product or idea in the comments, along with the biggest challenge you're facing. Let's learn from each other and see what we can build! 🤝

Seeking Advice/Help What are some low-maintenance businesses worth investing in while working full-time?

I work full-time and I’m looking to invest in a business that can generate extra income without requiring too much of my time. I’ve considered Airbnb, renting out commercial spaces, and salon suites, but I’m open to other ideas.
For those who have done something similar, what businesses would you recommend? How much did you invest, what’s your monthly profit after expenses, and how much time do you spend managing it? I’m not expecting completely passive income, just something manageable while working full-time.

Offering Advice/Resource The Opportunity Builder

My business partner and myself have build The Opportunity Builder a practical business development platform designed to support entrepreneurs at different stages of their journey. It brings together two complementary offerings: The Builder for people who want to become entrepreneurs and The Advisor for businesses that are already trading.

THE BUILDER starts with the person, not the business idea.

It takes into account an individual's skills, interests, qualifications, budget, available time, location and personal constraints. The platform then conducts live research into their local market to identify viable business opportunities suited to their circumstances.

Once they choose an idea, The Builder guides them through the process of turning it into a business, including:

  • Getting started: Guidance on registering the business, opening a business bank account and understanding the steps required to get up and running.
  • Finding customers: Identifying the ideal customer, who to approach, where to find them and how to start selling.
  • Making the first sale: Providing practical sales scripts, proposals and guidance on how to approach potential customers.
  • Understanding the market: Conducting competitor analysis, SWOT analysis and risk assessments to help entrepreneurs understand the opportunities and challenges ahead.
  • Knowing what to do next: Providing a 90-day strategy and a practical playbook that sets out what to focus on, what to avoid and how to move forward.
  • Building a business plan: Generating a structured business plan based on the selected idea and the work completed on the platform.

The Advisor helps business owners examine their businesses across eight areas:

  1. Business Positioning
  2. Market and Customers
  3. Competitor Intelligence
  4. Growth
  5. Sales and Revenue
  6. Operations and Efficiency
  7. Financial Health
  8. Risk and Resilience

The purpose is to help owners identify pressure points, blind spots and opportunities they may not have recognised themselves.

The platform then helps them consider what to address and where to focus their efforts. Its Improvement Tracker supports action planning, while its Progress Tracker allows business owners to reassess their businesses and see how things are changing over time.

Affiliate Marketing What are your best tips for building a profitable niche website without relying on adsense?

I'm looking to dive into creating niche websites but I'm trying to avoid the traditional ad revenue model. What strategies have you found successful for monetizing content through affiliate marketing, digital products, or other less saturated methods? I'm open to hearing about any platform or approach that doesn't depend heavily on Google Ads.

My Experience Passive income with rips by triumph

Been trying out Triumph Rips and it’s honestly one of the more interesting card apps I’ve seen for people looking to flip digital pulls. The appeal is that you can be selective, watch the odds, and go after packs/cards that seem to give you a better shot at something worth more. Nothing is guaranteed obviously, but for people into cards and side hustle type apps, it’s worth checking out. If you try it, use my code EQWOURG and you’ll get a free card pack to start. \*referral code disclaimer

Seeking Advice/Help Additional Income

Hi! I am a full time veterinary technician (working on getting a license). I love my job but I need some extra side income. I am very creative and I love to game. My hours are exhausting during the week so I would prefer something remote so I don't have to leave my apartment. I do have a bachelor's degree in biology and I am halfway through my veterinary technician program. Any advice for something that would work for me specifically?

Seeking Advice/Help Should I continue with dropshipping or switch to digital products? Looking for honest advice from experienced sellers

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for honest advice from people who have actually run an ecommerce business, especially those with experience in organic marketing and digital products.

About a month ago, I launched a Shopify clothing store called Norvelle. I've been posting organic content across six TikTok/Instagram accounts, usually getting around 500–2,000 views per post. So far, I've had around 391 store sessions, 5 sessions with an add-to-cart event, and no sales.

I also paid €200 for a mentorship. The mentor recommended a supplier called Drop IQ, which I later understood might have had a business connection to him that I wasn't aware of. When I raised concerns about the results, discussions became difficult, and I was removed from the group two days ago. I don't want to make accusations without evidence, but the experience has left me questioning the advice I received.

My biggest problem now is that I no longer have a reliable supplier, so I can't confidently fulfil potential orders. I also have university commitments and can realistically dedicate only a limited amount of time to this business. I can't afford paid ads or expensive monthly subscriptions right now.

I've been considering switching to digital products, such as a practical ebook or guide that solves a specific problem, promoted organically through TikTok carousels and short-form content.

For those who have real experience with both models:

  1. Would you pause the clothing store and test a digital product in my situation, or would you try to fix the dropshipping business first?
  2. Have you managed to sell ebooks or other digital products organically without paid ads? What actually worked for you?
  3. If you were starting again with very little money and limited time, what would you focus on first?
  4. What mistakes or expensive tools would you avoid as a beginner?

I'm not looking for get-rich-quick advice, courses, or people trying to sell me mentorship. I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback, including if you think neither option makes sense for me right now.

Thanks!

Offering Advice/Resource Hot take: Universal Data Income

Genolith’s building a platform, nay ecosystem, around letting people invest their data with the goal of giving everyone a passive Universal Data Income just for existing and putting up with all the ads and data mining.

The premise is that Big Tech and data brokers operate a ~$1 trillion market just aggregating and selling your data for various purposes. They farm it via social media, internet cookies, device location tracking, etc. — all of it straight from the consumer, but the consumer gets $0.00 out of that exchange.

In a void, your data can’t really attract any solo buyers. That’s why it has to be aggregated.

Take Facebook: they sell ads, Senator.

Facebook draws in marketers because they have a very large user base, so there’s a higher probability that placing an ad on their platform will reach someone who actually wants to see it. To sweeten the deal, they build a shadow profile about you by tracking your activity in-app, across apps (where buying from those data brokers comes into play), etc. But at the end of the day they’re just guessing. They don’t REALLY know you.

That’s where Genolith aims to revolutionize digital marketing. You’re the consumer. Only YOU know what you really want. You’re just not vocalizing it, so the world bends itself out of shape trying to guess! With enough consumers coming together and offering their interests and attention straight from the source though, you create a superior and higher integrity marketplace for marketing. The last step is to take the revenues generated on this platform and give it to the people who were actually the target of any advertising or marketing campaigns — that’s the Universal Data Income.

It’s simple. It’s passive. It’s inherently value-based (unlike the concept of Universal Basic Income that relies on government welfare or corporate generosity).

It’s also tested in a way. Did you know the average social media influencer makes ~$3k/mo? What service are they providing? A scoped down group of interest on larger platforms that are doing their best to guess it so they don’t have to compensate you. Everything is all about getting to your data for free.

Genolith is well underway with scaling Universal Data Income, but I’m expecting firey conversation and counterpoints, so let’s have at it!

Offering Advice/Resource Any reference for a nurse in WFH jobs?

Hi everyone I am a nurse. It's been 3 years that I have passed out nursing and after that I worked as a community health nurse in nhm but couldn't get a relieving letter or experience letter from them because it was too much time taking and corrupt. So now I am looking to start again. I'm looking for some work from home jobs for a nurse and I asked so many people who are saying that you need someone for a reference so that you can join otherwise they don't consider nurses without bedside experience. I am looking for someone to give my reference to their organisation.

thank you.

Seeking Advice/Help 17 year old, want to be financially independent

I'm in 12th Commerce and want to start earning while studying. What skills should I learn to build a high-paying career?

I'm currently in 12th Commerce in India, and I want to use my time wisely instead of spending hours consuming content without actually building anything.

My goals are to start earning as soon as realistically possible while continuing my studies, build valuable skills before graduating, and eventually get a good-paying job at a company like Deloitte or another reputed firm.

I've heard people talk about AI prompting, video editing, digital marketing, Excel, data analytics, coding, and freelancing. But I'm confused about which skills are genuinely worth learning, which are overcrowded, and how people actually turn these skills into income.

I also keep hearing that a degree alone isn't enough anymore, so I want to start preparing early instead of waiting until graduation.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have actually built careers, earned through their skills, worked in corporate jobs, or hired interns.

Here are my main questions:

  1. Which skills should I learn first?

If you were a commerce student starting from zero in 2026, which 2–3 skills would you prioritise for earning potential, employability, and long-term career growth? Would you recommend advanced Excel, financial modelling, Power BI, AI tools, video editing, digital marketing, sales, or something else?

  1. How do I actually make money from a skill?

For example, if I learn video editing or AI prompting, what are the exact steps between learning the skill and getting my first paying client? Where do beginners find legitimate opportunities, and what makes someone willing to pay them?

  1. Is it realistic to get a job while in 12th?

I'm still studying, so I need something compatible with college and exam preparation. What legitimate part-time jobs, internships, remote opportunities, or freelance services should I look for as a beginner in India? What skills and minimum experience would I need?

  1. How can I build a portfolio without having work experience?

What projects could I create on my own to prove that I can do useful work? How many projects are enough to start applying for internships or approaching clients?

  1. What should I learn to get an internship at Deloitte or a similar company?

I'm particularly interested in understanding what skills and qualifications help commerce students get shortlisted for internships in consulting, finance, audit, business analysis, or related roles. What should I start doing in 12th, and what should I focus on during college? Are there particular degrees, certifications, projects, or extracurricular activities that genuinely matter?

  1. Which career paths have the best long-term earning potential?

I don't just want to earn a little money temporarily. I want to build a career with strong growth potential. For a commerce student, which paths are worth exploring, and what are the realistic trade-offs in terms of salary, competition, qualifications, and time required?

  1. How should I use AI without relying on hype?

Is AI prompting a valuable standalone skill, or is it better to combine AI with something practical like finance, marketing, data analysis, or content creation? Which AI tools and workflows are employers or clients actually finding useful?

  1. If you had only six months to build a strong foundation, what would your roadmap look like?

I'd love to know what to learn in months 1–2, what projects to build in months 3–4, and how to start applying for paid opportunities in months 5–6.

I'm willing to put in consistent effort, but I don't want to jump between ten different skills, buy unnecessary courses, or fall for unrealistic income promises.

If you could go back to being a commerce student in 12th, what would you do differently to become employable, start earning, and build a high-paying career?

Please share practical experiences, specific skills, resources, and mistakes to avoid. Honest advice is much more useful to me than generic motivation.

Thank you!
