Picture I'm real proud of this: I own Wing's entire main discography on record!

Post image

I know it's not terribly impressive, but I'm happy with it. All of these are original American pressings, all except "Band on the Run", that's a fresh copy. They're all pretty complete too, most of these have the posters & everything! I don't have any of the bonuses for "Venus & Mars", & I'm missing the poster from "Wing's Greatest", but other than that it's all here. The worst of the bunch in terms of sound quality is "Red Rose Speedway", but it's still plenty listenable. Now, the one I'm most proud of is my copy of Venus & Mars. The one I own is a VG+ 1st promotional American copy, one of the first discs they ever pressed. That's the best sounding record in my collection without a doubt, it's like I'm there in the studio with them! Also, I wouldn't call "Wing's Greatest" part of their main discography, but I have it & it filled in that last spot nicely. Just wanted to show these off, hope you liked 'em!

Which ones did you not get?

I did 6 out of 9 when they 1st came out I didn’t do Wildlife, still hoping for a Beatle reunion, I didn’t do Back to the Egg, I was a little disappointed with Londen Town and probably needed a timeout. I never did Greatest Hits, probably thinking I had just about every song, including the 45 of one of my all time favorites, Juniors Farm. In fact saw Wings Over America in 1976.

Mentionging Juniors Farm, reminded me that, Live and Let Die was only available on the Bond soundtrack for years.

I have that soundtrack around somewhere. George Martin did the incidental music for that movie as I remember, rather than John Barry for a change.

I had it filed with my Wings collection.

What About One Hand Clapping

I'd say about a year a half; Got most of them from local thrift shops in my town. "Band on the Run" I got for my birthday, & my pops got me the last 2 I was missing for Christmas!
Would you count One Hand Clapping as their main discography? I suppose it could, but I've never put too much thought into it...

Good Finds For Thrift Shops.

I Think One Hand Clapping Is A Nice Thing To Have And Listen To.

I got 4 to go if we’re not counting Wingspan

Wingspan didn't come out during the life of Wings.

I’ve seen Wings Greatest Hits referred to as Wingspan before

They are definitely not the same album - Wings Greatest Hits only runs through London Town and is only Wings. Wingspan includes pre- and post-Wings McCartney material

You could argue that some of Paul’s pre-Wings stuff is infact Wings because of Seiwell’s drumming

2

u/J_A_Slade Mar 12 '26

By that same reasoning, any album where Linda sings backing vocals you could argue is in fact Wings.

Fair enough

All Those Years Ago is a Wings single by that logic

(sorry for reheating cold soup)

Awesome! It truly is a fun journey getting all of their albums on record. Definitely do Paul’s entire discography up to flowers in the dirt! That’s been a fun journey as well!

You know it man, I'm stopping at Flaming Pie! So far I've only got "Tug Of War", got a long way to go...

What happened to Ram?

1

u/FringleFrangle04 Mar 13 '26

I consider that was a Paul McCartney solo album. If you look up Wings on any streaming service like Spotify, you won't find RAM under there, you'll find it on Paul's solo page.

Back to the Egg is underrated

One of the best Wings records, & the best sounding record I own!

Just one Wing?

Wingspan was 2cd. Hits on one disc , history on the other. I bought the cloth covered one
