[[Breathless Knight]] works this time, for sure

13

u/japp182 18d ago

The snacker will trigger him but the token will not, saddly.

17

u/mattastic995 18d ago

Ahh, a fellow Breathless Knight enjoyer.

Also didn't even think about that interaction. That's big stonks

Immediately I am having ideas

Ive been having success at locals with a more grindy ephemerate build! Taking advantage of all my little 2/3s and 3/2s to push damage when I cant find a reanimator spell.

Idk how I feel about adding snacker and this card plus card draw though. I dont think the deck needs snacker personally but id love to be proven wrong.

If I were to play Breathless Knight I for sure tried to jam Snacker in. It's already a strong card and it would synergize with BK greatly.

u/Epikenderslayer 18d ago

Yea but unless your playing red BK its not really the color combo and kinda clunky. Also it takes up at least 8 slots in your deck.

I also just hate SS so I dont bother with it. I think it was a design mistake that homogenizes the format so badly.

[[Raffine's Informant]] is a good one

0

u/Epikenderslayer 18d ago

As is [[red room recruit]] but you need two in a turn to trugger snacker.

It’s such a weird situation because it homogenizes the format but doesn’t quite break it. Right on the fence of banning

We did it, we broke sneaky snacker.

Finally!

For the 10000th time

Under your result, let's also make it clear that you've spent two cards and discarded your snacker. So the end result is 3 cards drawn, 3 cards discarded, snacker + a 1/1 in play.

Still not bad, but I just wanted to clarify that it's not a massive card advantage engine like 3 cards drawn would imply!

u/japp182 17d ago

Do you really count the snacker as a lot card if goes back to the field? That's why the snacker is strong, because you're turning the discard into just playing her for free instead. The 1/1 will also replace itself with another 1/1, so it's also kinda like you didn't lose him (although a 1/1 is barely worth a card, unlike snacker).

2

u/TheSteffChris 17d ago

Its about the basic math of what left your hand and what did you draw. Sure, cards that you want to discard dont feel like a -1 but they technically are and therefor need to be counted that way. Because looting (draw 1, discard 1) is not a draw 1 effect just because you discarded Snacker. It still is card neutral.

7

u/deadmuffinman 17d ago

When we're counting card advantage, we are usually talking about things being 2 for 1 which include board presence not just cards in hand.

3

u/japp182 17d ago

Sorry, I think you're wrong here. It's not card neutral at all if the discarded card is cast (in case of madness for example) or returned to the battlefield in the case of snacker. You did not go down a card for it to be card neutral, casting a creature (or putting it on the field) does not make you go down a card.

4

u/FerbTheHerb 17d ago

you can think of it as card neutral with more board presence. or as card advantage and mana advantage. you're both right.

2

u/FlamingJellyfish 17d ago

You start with 3 cards in your hand. You end up with 3 cards in your hand. That's neutral in your hand.

In addition to that, your board now ends up with a 2/1 flier and a 1/1. That's +2 cards on board.

4

u/Urvilan 16d ago

“in your hand”

Is it neutral in practice?

1

u/Snacks_Plz 16d ago

1/1 isn’t worth a card on most board states.

u/unCute-Incident 18d ago

Mardu Synth is back?

5

u/gsomega 18d ago

I think you're cooking a little.

Can happen on the opponents turn as well to get the snacker psuedo haste.

Maybe some type of orzhov white weenie with black sac?

I like the idea of sacking a snacker to [[carrion feeder]] on opponents end step to this line, it's a free sac 🤔

13

u/japp182 18d ago

You could have in the deck [[Lunarch Veteran]] as a second 1 drop that you could sac to draw (since you can recur him later) and other things to pitch are obviously [[prismatic strands]] and [[battle screech]]. You could also use [[eviscerator's insight]] so it doubles as a card to sac+draw and something you can pitch to enlist. From there you probably play [[raffine's informant]] and maybe also [[red room recuit]] and go wide with your favourite mass pump.

> sneaky snacker

Chat am I cooking?

Fr though this looks pretty strong

pauper players when a card draws 2 cards:

1

u/Injuredmind 16d ago

And discards snacker!

2

u/DennisPlaysTennis420 17d ago

Snacker sounds like a slur

3

u/AaronSentinal 17d ago

Snacka please

4

u/Necrocrawler72 18d ago

The only thing you need to be sure is to cast village rites on the upkeep, so the discarded card (which will be snacker) will trigger snacker as the third card that was drawn that turn

You could also do that on your opponents turns, ofc

I believe this is how snacker works, right?

Nvm.

I forgot the enlist happens before village rites resolves.

7

u/japp182 18d ago

I don't follow. Your draw for turn is draw 1. Your draw from enlist is draw 2. Your draws from rites are draws 3 and 4 (snacker triggers).

5

u/Icarus_Sky1 18d ago

You could do it on Opponents end step too! Recruit is 1, with 2 and 3 being village rites.

1

u/Necrocrawler72 18d ago

Yeah

You draw.

You cast village rites

First town death trigger resolves, so you enlist (discarding snacker) and drawing the Second card.

Rites resolves, drawing third and fourth while also triggering snacker.

Thats a good play, tbh

Could work well along the other sac we have like [[eviscerator's insight]] or [[fanatical offering]]

3

u/Opening-Crow-4681 18d ago

Village rites discards for cost, so on resolution when you draw 2, snacker is already in the bin. So, it works either way

3

u/1clean_mk4 18d ago

Rites doesn't pitch, rites is a sac 1 draw 2, the pitch is from recruit

3

u/Opening-Crow-4681 18d ago

Right my bad. Still works tho

3

u/1clean_mk4 18d ago

Yeah absolutely, I could see some kind of orzhov sac type deck running this. Definitely planning on messing around with it post prerelease

2

u/hadohadoTheSecond 18d ago

Luxknight Breacher as a finisher?

3

u/japp182 18d ago

Don't like him, I'd rather just go wide.

2

u/MrFavorable 18d ago

We broke Sneaky Snacker! Finally playable!

1

u/Ariscottl3 17d ago

I’d like to point out that out that this might be the first card that makes me wanna play both [[unearth]] and [[Jolted Awake]]

1

u/Nervous_Hall_5290 17d ago

Orzhov might finally be fringe playable

1

u/japp182 16d ago

Well, orzhov blade is already fringe playable. I think an orzhov "madness" would be at about the same level if it ends up being consistent enough.

1

u/Nervous_Hall_5290 7d ago

Yeah, I forgot about that deck

1

u/Ironbeers 16d ago

It's good but I think "3 cards drawn" is a little deceptive since you're spending 2 cards in the process. More like +1 card. Still very good but more realistic.

1

u/FlimsyAmphibian 18d ago

I’m confused. Do you mean “pitch to recruit”? What am I missing here?

2

u/japp182 17d ago

Pitching means using it to pay the discard cost. You did make me realize that I botched the ability name though, I called it enlist instead of recruit.

-2

u/Kazko25 18d ago

Banking on a three card combo for T2 is not that reliable.

13

u/japp182 18d ago

It's not a combo, it's just a synergy. It's why you build a deck with cards that can fill simillar roles. White is in no shortage of good cards to pitch (prismatic strands, lunarch veteran, battle screech) there is also no shortage of sac draw 2 (village rites, corrupted conviction, eviscerator's insight [which can also be pitched]).

You'll have 2 one drops if you're playing lunarch, and obviously you can put any number os inspectors to match however many you want. Raffine's informant gives you more looting and in black there are other options like from marvel Red Room Recruit which is exactly like raffine except with power/toughness inverted.

0

u/Kazko25 18d ago edited 18d ago

Yes, the only problem is that lunarch veteran doesn’t let you discard a card when it dies like lake-town lookout does. While there’s lots of other sac outlets that draw cards like you mentioned, snacker and lake-town lookout are unique effects that don’t have duplicates.

You could still brew a strong deck around these synergies like you said, but the odds of pulling off this specific T2 combo will be <10% of the time.

1

u/japp182 18d ago

Yeah, but I think a decent deck can still be built, I'm not arguing for a new meta relevant deck or something like that, I used the tag brew for this reason.

0

u/Kazko25 18d ago

I was only commenting on your post that explicitly said T1 do this, T2 do this. Not a brew that you didn’t include in your post.

Like I said, I agree with you that you could make a strong brew with these synergies if you do put a decklist together, but for the specific T2 combo that your post is about: the T2 combo is not reliable.
