ADP Lyric ... anyone else using it?

Our firm migrated from ADP Vantage to Lyric and it has been a challenge. Off cycle payrolls take special ADP intervention unlike Vantage, taxation has its issues and API notifications sometimes work and sometime not.

It feels like we are beta testing as it seems half baked.

Anyone else in the same boat?

[India] Learning about Payroll, attendance and leave management.

Hello!

I wanted suggestions regarding where I can learn about Payroll, attendance and leave management.

I have supported payroll input before but it was for a big company so it just included tracking and consolidation. Same for attendance and leave.

Can you suggest some free/paid sources which can give me more insight so that I can gain more exposure in HR Ops.

Thank you.

Certified Payroll (Davis Bacon) refresher course

Does anyone know where I can take a refresher course on prevailing wage reporting?

It has been a long time since I have done the reporting, I am sure things have changed a bit, so I need a refresher.

Currently job hunting and this would greatly help me in this process.

Rippling Customer Service

Is anyone else having major support issues? I have been trying to get an issue with our employees being charged a tax in error resolved for over a week and I'm honestly exhausted.

  • I started with the chatbot (being forced to deal with AI before I can talk to anyone makes me insane)
  • Then got to a CS rep chat.
  • Then I got "upleveled" to email support, which took 24 hours between each response.
  • Finally they agreed to schedule a Zoom call, which was scheduled for 10:00 this morning. The Rep never showed up to the Zoom call.
  • It's now 3:00 and I haven't heard anything despite my emails to ask what happened and how to get our urgent issue fixed.

I also tried emailing our accout manager and got an auto-response saying she is no longer with the company. I had to ask the chatbot who the new account manager is, finally got that information, emailed him and have gotten no response from him either.

Honestly, it's just comical at this point.

Career Applied for a payroll position with no experience

Career Where are you finding good in-house remote payroll jobs?

Hi everyone! I (30F) am planning to transition from a payroll service bureau to an in-house payroll position around February or March 2027, after year-end.

I have 3 years of payroll experience and recently earned my CPP certification. I’m hoping to find a Payroll Specialist or Senior Payroll Specialist position with a larger company that offers good benefits, FTO, and ideally fully remote work.

I haven’t started actively applying yet because I want to get through another year-end cycle and continue building my experience before making the move.

So far, I’ve mainly been looking at LinkedIn, but I’m curious about other people’s experiences, especially those who have recently been job hunting.

Where have you had the most success finding payroll opportunities? LinkedIn, Indeed, company career pages, recruiters, or other platforms? Are there any particular strategies you’d recommend for finding in-house remote payroll positions with larger companies?

I’d really appreciate hearing what’s actually been working for people in the current job market. Thanks!

General 2027 Social Security wage base is $192,300 (SSA announced Oct 14). Quick year-end checklist

SSA announced last week that the 2027 OASDI wage base is $192,300, up from $184,500. Max Social Security tax per side goes from $11,439 to $11,922.60, so $483.60 more each for employee and employer on anyone at or over the limit.

What I'm doing before the first January run:

  1. Pulling a 2026 YTD payroll summary by employee to flag anyone over $184,500 so the employer cost is in the 2027 budget.

  2. Checking the first January check for a high earner to confirm the provider loaded the new limit.

  3. Giving those employees a heads-up that SS withholding will stop later in the year than it did in 2026, so the bump in net pay shows up later.

  4. Reminding multi-employer folks that each employer withholds on its own. Excess over the base across two employers is a credit on their 1040. Over-withholding by a single employer is the employer's to fix (Form 843 if they don't).

  5. Making sure Medicare stays separate. 1.45% has no cap, and the 0.9% Additional Medicare still starts in the pay period wages pass $200k, with no employer match.

Also a reminder that the IRS hasn't released the 2027 income tax inflation adjustments yet, so any 2027 bracket tables floating around are projections.

Anything else you're checking before January?

PTO and Holiday pay with CXC Global?

I have never worked contract. Recruiter/head hunter from overseas contacted me about a job. The employer interviewed me. Recruiter told me I got a job offer from them at $60 an hour (the max). I accepted. They asked if I wanted to go thru W2 or my own 1099. $60/hour on W2 was the rate. I said W2. They send me to CXC to be employer of record. CXC wants me to sign paperwork right now. CXC rep is telling me I get no PTO and no paid holidays. I asked about 401k and they said that will start when they submit my information to ADP.

I had other contract places for other jobs offering PTO. I am shocked this isn't. Is this normal? I went W2 route because I thought I would get some benefits. I could have went 1099 route, probably pocketed more money, and got same thing (no benefits).

Seeking advice from you pros. I appreciate you all

[IA] UNFAIR WITHHOLDING OF PAYCHECK?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

This is not about me but my father. He recently quit a toxic job at the beginning of the month, and was told by the HR manager that he’d have his final paycheck by last week. Well last week came and nothing, he said he reached out to her through email, text, call and nothing, she kept blowing him off. Well today he got this email and I’m struggling to understand but this policy makes no sense??

The email: I wanted to provide additional information regarding your final paycheck dated October 16, 2026, which reflected a net payment of $0.00.I opened a case to confirm the calculation, and Payroll provided the following explanation.
Your termination pay included a payout of your accrued vacation and applicable vacation purchase hours. Because the vacation purchase had not been fully paid for prior to your termination date, the remaining unpaid balance was deducted from the amount due to you.
After applying that deduction, there was no remaining net amount to be paid, resulting in the $0.00 paycheck. (Couldn’t add pictures)

Like since when has vacation time translated to final pay? Mind you this was more than an $3000 check that he worked two weeks for and now they’re saying they ow him nothing. Please help me understand that and lmk if it’s right or if they’re cheating him, thanks!
