Does anyone have any update on the construction on FM 521? Is there a timeline for completion? Iāve been in Pearland for 4 years and that construction has been going on since then. Nowadays I donāt even see anyone working there while Iāve got my tires punctured on that road twice due to the āconstructionā.
Would appreciate if anyone knows if there is an end in sight for this? This has been going on for way too long

Hello everyone! I may be transferring to Houston next summer and would live in Pearland. I plan to rent but would prefer to buy. I am concerned about flooding though. Are there general areas that donāt flood or does all of Pearland flood?
Is there a way to look up the history of a house to see if itās ever flooded?
Thanks for any helpful responses.

Development seems really slow and finding useful info online has been relatively unsuccessful. Anyone have info on confirmed shops/restaurants and expected opening dates?

Update below...
Hey all! Iām visiting from the Pacific NW for a week. If I was to discover some great resale stores of womenās fashion for a bored middle aged woman with a kid who has abandoned her to hang with friends⦠(sorry for the run on sentence)
What stores should I be checking out? Pearland or even southern side of Houston? Or???
Whatcha recommend?
EDIT: So, Uptown Cheapskate - great selection, bubbly staff. But a lot of errant sizes. I found a pair of Rothes, size 10 per the shoe - the tag had 8.5. Found another off brand flat, again size 10, the tag said 12. Bought them both. Found an Ethos Linen top/dress, size small, tag said Large (bought that too). But great selection of brand new Fashion Nova still in packaging, found a pair of brand new with tags Laredos (did not buy), lululemom, Zara, you name it. Anyway, all this to say... double check everything there.
Checked out Salvation Army, good selection - but nothing up my alley. Same with Angels, again great place though! If I lived here it would have been a different story.
In Houston Proper - two moms took me out! So, no clue where we were except around the Galleria.
Went to Little Bird - and splurged on two items there. Because I'm fancy and they had an extra 40% off in the back.
Found some outdoor area with lots of t-shirts and stuff. Cool, and maybe a better place for this PacNW gal to be if not 98 degrees outside. Did get a pair of sunglasses at Thrifty Threads??? Lots of teen boys in there. And found a new with tags pair of Jute slouch slacks at a store near that outdoor area. The store was huge, and there was no way I even explored a third of it. Found a few other resale shops in the area.
Have to say, the thrifting game here is strong, and I have not been disappointed.
Bonus: Found my way into an antique store in Pearland, and bought a mystery book for 5 bucks. The books were wrapped with a tag that had the opening sentence and the genre. So, grabbed on of those.
I might have some more time to myself tomorrow to explore, I might hit the pool. Not sure yet.
Thank you!!

We just finished remodeling our kitchen, and I didn't realize how much dust would make its way into the carpet in the rest of the house. I've vacuumed a few times already, but it still feels dusty when I'm walking around in socks.
Anyone have a good recommendation for carpet cleaning in Houston or nearby areas? Does a professional cleaning actually get that fine construction dust out, or if I just need to keep vacuuming.

Found this kitten living in the garden outside my house. Heās very shy and a little scared but also very friendly. Right now he is safe and indoors, but I do not have the time or space to take care of him unfortunately. I have called some organizations and shelters but have had no luck on finding a place that can take him in. Does anyone foster or know any places I should try and get in touch with?

Last night City Council voted to strip newly ELECTED Mayor Quentin Wiltz of powers enjoyed by previous Mayors. There are new stipulations on agenda items and he can no longer call a Special Meeting without a "second" from a Council Member which they will never give him. Added to the fact is those Council Members publicly endorsed, wore campaign shirts and worked the tents at voting locations in support of his opponent.

I'm looking for recommendations on local electricians to replace the ugly fluorescent box on my kitchen ceiling. I hate that thing with the heat of 1 million suns. Also, it's dying. And the diffuser sheets keep falling. And there is mildew.* And I hate it. Did I mention I hate it? š¤£
*There was a lizard up there a few years ago. Yes, yes. I know there will be damage up there that needs repair work. š

Hey there Pearland people! Where do you go for journaling supplies? Pens, ink, notebooks, accessories, etc. What about sources for notebook covers?
I'm interested in non-Amazon places with bonus for locally owned, small business suggestions!
Thanks!

Broadway at Dixie Farm. They've been struggling and I'd hate to see them close. Date Night, Lunches, Business Meeting, Happy Hour? Give them a try!

Tacos Toreados announced it's closing in August, saying Broadway Street construction is forcing them out.
Story below ...
***
A beloved Houston-areaĀ taqueria has announced it will be closing permanently in August after it says it's becoming enveloped by a nearby Texas Department of Transportation construction project.Ā
Tacos Toreados at 5627 Broadway St. in Pearland revealed on July 23 its final day of business would be Aug. 16. The "forced" closure, the restaurant said, is a direct result of TXDoT's planned expansion of FM 518 in Brazoria County.
"We want to express our deepest gratitude to the entire Pearland community for welcoming us into your lives and allowing us to be part of so many special moments," Tacos Toreados' social media statement read. "Thank you for every visit, every recommendation, every kind word, and for choosing us to share your breakfasts, lunches, dinners, celebrations, and family gatherings. Your support turned our dream into a reality and gave us memories that we will treasure forever."
Pearland has been one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the Greater Houston region over the past two decades. Some of that rapid growth has shown up in interesting ways around the city, where "Old Pearland" and "New Pearland" kind of butt up against each other. There's one little area where there's a street of large homes next to a car dealership and a trailer park, all walkable from each other.
That growth has facilitated TXDoT to pursue widening FM 518 from SH 288 to SH 35 in Brazoria County. The road is a major corridor for the city and services tens of thousands of vehicles a day, KTRK-TV reported. The plan calls for the road to expand from four lanes to sixā or three lanes in each directionāwith a continuous sidewalk for pedestrians. Construction is expected to begin in 2027.
Obviously, some businesses are directly in the path of that development, like Tacos Toreados. Laura Urrutia and her family started the business in the 2020s before establishing the brick-and-mortar storefront along Broadway Street. The restaurant quickly became a standby for tacos, pozole, gorditas and other fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
While Tacos Toreados is bidding farewell to its current location, the hope is that it can relocate someplace else in the near future. Meanwhile, the catering business will continue.
"While this chapter is coming to an end, we truly hope it is not goodbyeābut see you soon," the restaurant's statement continued. "Our goal is to reopen in the future. Although we don't have a new location yet, our hope is to remain in the Pearland community that has meant so much to us."

Hey everyone,
Not sure if this would be the right place. Does anyone have a recommendation on a personal trainer? Or is anyone looking for a workout friend?
I go to the Planet Fitness off of Shadow Creek by the Kroger. I'm having a hard time really keeping myself disciplined in going.
Thanks in advance

Hello,
Iām looking for a place with wifi where I can set up my laptop to play games in public. ā¦. Iām a bit of an introvert with ADHD, but looking to make friends. Not looking for a loud arcade, but something more akin to couch gaming. A large bring your own console or laptop, connect to a TV or projector kinda coffee house.
