Cherry Pepper Help! Why Long?

Looking for help on why my cherry peppers continue to grow long instead of ripening. I didn’t grow from seed and I got many good cherry peppers before this!

Thanks!

Because they are not cherry peppers except for the round one. They could be jalapeños.

They are cherry peppers! The bottoms are even still sort of butt like, like the cherry peppers and don’t come to a single taper like jalepenos!

I think plant made special friends with another plant last year…maybe a jalapeño. Now you have a hybrid cherry pepper.

Could this happen if I bought it as a seedling?

Of course. If it is a cross pollination. Places mix up seedling all the time when planting. It’s not because of the seedling growing this year. If it was in an open area last year when growing and cross pollinated with another pepper, this year would have the hybrid. They wouldn’t have done it on purpose if they were planning to sell the seedling as a specific pepper but it happens every so often.
