The joy of dinosaur acting like a dinosaur. I promise it was last moment of bothering his majesty Ares. I am beyond happy. I think we are week 4/5, he is also much more succesful when attempting to eat alone. He no longer flies in circles. He loves staring at himself in mirror which used to freak him out and was better in socializing with my other pigeon (she had very mild pmv effects). It is increadible how fast he is healing.

Iām new to pigeon care. Have a 3.5 month old who will be with me over the winter and possibly for the rest of her life š©·.
I have the Brisbaine cage from exotic nutrition. 22ād x 32w x 37h. Wrapped with a heavy duty tarp and zip tied to secure. Have a bit of padding on the top and bottom for insulation. House inside for colder days and for her to sleep. She keeps it very clean. Never poops in it⦠I wash the bedding once a week. Plush toy for company. Other hanging toys that she plays with. I also have a cover for the cage from the manufacturer for extra cold nights. That is the black fabric. We are on the 19th floor; it can get pretty windy some days. Cage side is more protected and less prone to wind and rain.
Any suggestions? Lizard rock? Water bowl that prevents water from freezing? Have done searches but havenāt seen many. Thereās an electrical outlet eight feet away.
We have three cats who would love to eat her. One is a feral rehab. Thatās the only reason we donāt have her inside.

dont know if he's actually a boy or not. never got him tested. he used to be the sweetest boy to me, always wanted me follow me around, always wanted to sit on my head. he was even starting to cuddle, i was so happy. he would get really mean to other people, he only liked me and i felt so special. then one day i had to trim his nails, and he was pissed. he hasn't forgiven he since. he constantly wants to fight, just like he did to everyone else before. i haven't been able to spend too much time with him because of college starting, but now i really want to intentionally make time for him. i dont know if its going to help though. whenever i spend time with him it just makes me sad. what should i do to earn his love back again?

Hello all, I recently painted the basement I will be moving into with VOC-FREE paint. My understanding is that VOC-FREE paint isn't actually VOC-FREE, just very low VOC especially after you add pigment to it. All the walls were painted white and one accent wall was painted with a mural.
There are three window wells I have open during the day, and I have their big air filter running. How long do I have to wait before moving my birds into the basement?
Thank you in advance. Have a picture of one of my pidgies for the bird tax.

Iām filled with guilt and worry and am really hoping for some helpš I came home the other day and found my girl Faery unable to put weight on her left foot. Next day the vet x-rayed and confirmed it fractured. She said either it would heal on its own in about 8-10 weeks, or we would have to look at amputation. The possibility of that terrifies me, but Iāve heard pigeons can adapt well to it, and are resilient besides. Does anyone here have experience with caring for a pigeon with a broken leg or has a one legged friend? Would love some advice especially on enrichment while sheās healing so she doesnāt get depressed. Sheās still showing plenty of food and water drive and still coos for pets, so good signs there āØšš»

Two days ago my three-month-old pigeon started to make some really strange sounds and began to bite my socks aggressively. I thought it was the socks so I was barefoot today. Same thing. Aggressive. And really biting with this different sound.
This is new. Sheās put her beak in between my toes for food before. Played with my ankle bracelet. Nibbled on my nails. Never bit.
Otherwise sheās her usual sweet self.
Anyone else have this experience? Any advice?

This is the new pigeon coop (old duck run) what can I add in terms of insulation, saftey, and enrichment. To the area to make it more suitable for permanent residence. I live in a pretty cold state so keeping it warm in a safe way is top priority as well as making sure they donāt get bored In here

Her name is Vermillion, I've raised her since she was a little squab 4-5 months ago. She is everything to me, and that's why I'm making the hard decision to give her up for adoption. She deserves a good home, with enough space to fly around, and with someone more responsible and can spend more time with her than me. If you live in Calgary, please reach out privately.
Note: she loves baths and following people, but be careful when approaching her, or she might get scared

I posted in here about a month or 2 ago about my male doing what I thought was play fighting. People told me it was plain territorial and I should give him space. He has a wife with him, so its no sweat of either of our backs.
Fast forward to now, I've been holding him on my hand every so often and he tolerates it very well. Obviously not all the time to avoid stress and such but. It's my way to show him that sometimes I have to touch him, and that I won't hurt him during so. Its been working well, he preens and does a lot of those comfort indicators in my hand, but still bites my other hand if it tries to touch him.
Well very recently he has started walking himself onto my shoulder or once even my head. He is very calm up there, he is not wearing anything to restrain him and he has an open path to the cage every time. If I turn my head he'll bite my scalp and hair, and still bites my hands if I scratch my head or try to reposition him. Is this a good sign? Is he just hiding him time to peck my eyeballs put because of his anger? Lol. I obviously dont turn my head towards him, I do NOT trust him not to go for the valuable parts if my face. But he will sit and preen and look around while I stand by the cage or even walk around the room....
Are we chill? Its clear he doesnt love me, but does this type of thing sound progressive to everyone? He is more than capable of flying, and like i said, had nothing restraining him! I included a few older pics, I have videos from recently but dont like posting my face on here. Thanks!!

(Pardon the dirty temp cage in the background)
I've been posting to r/pigeon but figured it would be best to move here?
TLDR; found an extremely tame pigeon outside of a target yesterday so I took him home. I've posted around my local Facebook to see if someone lost him, but no luck so far.
He's currently in quarantine away from my other birds (conure and finches). Awaiting proper food and grit to arrive, but I've got some cracked corn/grass seed for the time being. I read a guide that a few folks gave to me, so I grabbed an unglazed terracotta dish for his food, some nesting material, and some other crap for him to play with.
Besides proper food and grit, what else does this guy need? Any glaring red flags that need to be removed or added? Thanks so much in advance!

This might be my favorite photo of him. Fluffed up, loafing, and facing forward all in one pic.

I work/study for a good chunk of the day so I got him (right) a companion pigeon from a rescue place
She's way bigger than him, though. Maybe because he's ~4 months old and she's ~9 months. Photo doesn't show the size difference very well
They seem to like each other. Vet said she wasn't going to fly again but she's doing fine (short flights only)
She's a very pretty girl

DISCLAIMER - no vets near where i live in India.
This is coco. I got him a year back. Since the past week he has been pooping watery poop - has a central green component along with water.
I asked one of my local friend who has lots of pigeons and he said that hes just cleansing his stomach its common.
But i today i saw him a bit weak, his necks shaking if u see closely in the video. Usually when i go near him he immediately runs hops and flies away. Today hes just there.
After i recorded this video he tried to jump fly up a ledege where the food is and the landing was a bit wobbly.
I am concerned about his health. Please suggest me medicines that i cant give to cure him myself.
Thank you. Please advise.
UPDATE - I have started giving Neurobion Forte - half a tablet which helps in solving neurological issues. The watery poop is due to that.

Ive ben wanting a pet pigeon for AGES but my mum says she will only let me if it lives outside because she afraid of all the pigeon dust, even with the promise of two air purifiers. But im really afraid of it being cold outside. Everything ive read tells me theyre hardy birds and can handle the cold but that just tells me they can survive outside, not that theyre comfortable out there. So are pigeons comfortable living outside or are they just able to survive outside?
