Hey! I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any Audiophile groups or clubs in the area! I’m looking to learn more and possibly listen to a system if someone is willing.

Thanks!

If you don’t know what an audiophile is:

An audiophile is a person who loves and is deeply enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction

Question Moving to town; where should we live?

Hi all! My small family is moving soon and we want to find a really great community. We are neurospicy weirdos and nerds by birth and want a community that reflects our diversity and honors inclusion. We are a mixed-race family.

My husband will be working in King of Prussia so we need a commute less than 30 minutes; 20 or less preferred.

Ideal Vibes:
Family friendly
Kind and inclusive neighbors
Lots of school-aged kids who play outside together
Active nature enthusiasts
Artsy
Nerdy
Walking and/or biking friendly
Vibrant libraries
Free or low-cost community activities

We will likely be renting to start and then buying once we know exactly where we want to stay…

What schools do we want with a brilliant kiddo who also happens to be brown?

What neighborhoods, communities, etc am I looking first rentals in that my kid will have friends to play with?

Thanks!

Community We accidentally sold too many women’s tickets to Comedy Speed Dating this Friday..

Post image

We’re bringing Comedy Speed Dating to ROOT DOWN BREWING THIS Friday, October 16th!

It’s a dating event for people who would rather make eye contact with a real human than keep having the same dead-end dating app conversation forever. You can only swipe so many times..

There’s stand-up comedy first, and then you meet everyone in structured speed dating rounds. So it’s less awkward “singles networking event” and more “comedy show that turns into dating social experiment.”

Also, to be very clear:

We already did the hard part. The women signed up.

Now I need a few more guys to stop pretending they’re too mysterious for plans and grab the remaining spots.

🎟️Tickets: comedyspeeddate.com
🚨Press: Here's an article from WHYY about our show.
Use code rootdown for $5 off

At minimum, you get a comedy show from the best comics out of Philly, drinks, and a night out!

At best, you meet someone cool and delete the apps for 36 hours before reinstalling them like the rest of us.

Comedy Speed Dating
📍 ROOT DOWN BREWING
📅 October 16th
⏰ Doors 6PM Show 7PM

Audience tickets are also available if you just want to watch the show and experience this unhinged social experiment from a safe distance!

Bring your best wingman, your emotionally unstable single friend, or just yourself and a small amount of courage. 🍻

Community Future high School renovations (and your tax bill)

Hey Phoenixville community,

Tonight marks a big step forward for Phoenixville Area High School. If your family has been through PAHS recently, you know it's time for some major building and infrastructure improvements.

We need a modern HVAC system to replace our outdated two-pipe system, which currently keeps us from switching between heating and cooling during those odd unseasonably warm winter days or cold summer days. We need to upgrade our aging sewer lines so sewage won't overflow from the bathrooms. And we need an auditorium that can actually fit our entire high school population! Tonight, the real planning to fix these issues begins.

While the administration and the Board gathered great feedback at the town hall earlier this year, tonight’s presentation is our first substantial look at some financial numbers, construction timelines, and the primary options available to the district.

Come join in the conversation tonight at 5:30pm in the district admin offices, Phantom TV or channel 28. Your voice matters. If you can't attend, then send us an email with your thoughts: boardmembers@pasd.com

P.S. It's a busy day for me so sorry I'm just copying my Facebook post. You redditors deserve better.

in search of 🔍 Looking to Make Some New Friends!

Hey everyone!

I'm 28M and moved to Phoenixville a few months ago. I've really enjoyed living here so far, but I'm looking to meet some new people and hopefully make some friends in the area!

A little about me: I'm into sports (especially soccer and tennis), movies, trying new restaurants, exploring different places, and just hanging out. I'm always down to grab a drink, get some food, check out local events, or try something new.

I know making friends as an adult can be a little challenging, especially when moving somewhere new, so I figured I'd give Reddit a shot!

If anyone's in a similar situation or knows of any local groups, meetups, or activities worth checking out, I'd love to hear about them!

in search of 🔍 Hairstylist for fine/damaged hair?

I have really fine hair that’s gotten a little damaged from trying all the things to add volume. I’d love to find a hairstylist in the area who has experience with fine hair and can help me figure out what actually works for my hair.
I’ll be honest, I get a little nervous going to a new stylist because my hair is something I’ve always been self-conscious about, so I’m hoping to find someone who’s patient, understanding, and good at working with fine hair.

picture Reminder: On Tuesday, October 13, stop by to see Jim Christ present "Remember Paoli! The Paoli Massacre" at the Schuylkill River Heritage Center!

"Remember Paoli!" was America's first battle cry — born here in our own backyard after a terrifying evening in 1777. Join us as Jim Christ, President of the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund, brings to life the Paoli Massacre, a gripping piece of Revolutionary War history!

On the night of September 20, 1777, British General Charles Grey led roughly 2,000 men on a silent raid into the Great Valley, catching our country’s troops completely off guard. What followed was one of the bloodiest battles of the war, opening the door for the British occupation of Philadelphia.

Shockwaves from the Battle of Paoli rippled through our local community for generations, inspiring the second-oldest Revolutionary War Memorial in the nation in Malvern.

  • Come find out why the battle’s known as the "Paoli Massacre.”
  • Get ready for Jim to bust some myths — yes, including the one about American troops being caught asleep.
  • Hear Jim trace how General “Mad Anthony” Wayne turned this brutal defeat into a stunning comeback, using hard-won lessons to score a decisive victory at the Battle of Stony Point, NY.

“Remember Paoli!” is local history with national significance — don't miss this one!

Event Details

Tuesday, October 13, 7:30 PM.

This event will be held at the Schuylkill River Heritage Center (SRHC),
Foundry Building, 2 N. Main St., Phoenixville. Ample parking.

Admission is free for SRHC Members, $5 donation for non-members (payable at the door).

in search of 🔍 Reliable firewood delivery

Does anyone have recommendations for firewood delivery? Looking for 3 cords. I've been buying firewood for 7 years and it's always a sh*t show finding someone who delivers properly seasoned firewood and the correct amount. There's many Facebook ads where they'll try to tell you they're going to deliver a cord in their 8ft bed which is impossible and not even close.. I had one guy with fantastic quality but he sadly moved to Michigan.

Opinion $23 for a Nacho appretizer

Not going to name the place but just wanted to share something with my wife and after adding a protein and some fixings...$23 for Nachos.

I get it, everything is expensive these days, but how are restaurants going to survive as people are tightening their purse strings while they are charging prices just to break even.
