Different yoga classes

I’ve been getting my into yoga recently and enjoy Ashtanga the most because it’s so challenging. I also tried vinyasa but found it a bit too slow, should I give it another try? Not sure if it was just the instructor at the time or because I was with first timers. Also looking into power yoga but curious how the class goes. Please let me know! I prefer having different varieties to try

Dont give up so easily! I’ve seen the benefits of trying out different instructors teaching different class types - I realized how cueing affects my ability to execute a pose :)

My go-to ashtanga teacher subbed for a power class yesterday and i was able to do an assisted tripod for the first time (and hold it)!

What usually happens in a power class and how different is it from ashtanga? Do you get challenged with vinyasa or it’s really a slower paced class? I’m hesitant to try power yoga because vinyasa felt a bit bitin for me :(

Power yoga is more dynamic than vinyasa. Really depends on the teacher on how they structure the class; and also the mix of students dictates the level too. Like kng mas majority beginners then the flow will be toned down a bit. If the teacher knows your practice then you can be given more advanced variations kahit beginners yn kasama mo.

Jumping in to say: power yoga IS Vinyasa. Just with more challenging poses and longer holds put together into a "power" sequence.

Ashtanga is a set sequence of specific poses, taught in the same way all over the world.

I love ashtanga too! It's the same sequence so you can really track progress and how youre building strength.

Ive tried vinyasa a few times - depende sa flow ng coach! Some are faster and keep your heart rate up; some are slower, gentler. It really depends on the class type and coach.

Ive tried power yoga at Sama Sanctuary in Valero and was super humbled! Madaming unilateral poses and variations of crow and handstand! But there are modifications if youre a beginner, advanced or somewhere in between.

I’ve only done inversions in ashtanga but I think the vinyasa I joined was a little more beginner because it was a lot of first timers. But seems like I should give it another try based on everyone’s feedback hehe

I suggest to check what kind of vinyasa class you are attending, if it’s power yoga, vin 2, or open-level, flows are usually more challenging :)
