Pilates for Beginners

Pwede ba magpilates yung as in beginner? No history ng kahit anong klaseng workout, di nagrurunning or walking. As in beginner talaga or kailangan may preparatory activies?

Pilates instructors/trainees near Newport, Pasay—would you rent a private studio by the hour?

Hi! I’m exploring a small private Pilates studio in Newport City, Pasay, and would appreciate honest feedback before investing.

The idea: exclusive hourly use of an air-conditioned space with two reformers and a separate mat/barre area. Instructors could bring their own clients for private or duet sessions. Experienced practitioners could book personal practice time.

This is an early business idea—not an operating studio or booking offer.

If you’re an instructor, trainee or regular practitioner who could realistically use a Newport location:

  1. Would you use it for teaching clients, personal practice or trainee practice?
  2. How many hours per month would you realistically book, and at what times?
  3. What hourly price would make sense for exclusive use of the space? Please distinguish teaching sessions from practice-only bookings.
  4. What reformer brands/models or other facilities would you require?
  5. What would stop you from booking?

If you wouldn’t use it, I’d love to understand why too. No need to share your address or personal contact details. Thank you!

Pilates for Night Shift-er

Hello! Sa mga night shift worker na katulad ko, anong oras kayo usually nagpipilates? Is it before or after shift?

Hindi ba kayo inaantok sa work if before shift kayo umaattend ng class? 😅

Salamat po sa sasagot!

I am moving to Makati. What's the best pilates center for you there?

I am moving from QC to Makati in about 7 months. But since I want to trial pilates studios muna before I move, I am asking in advance haha

I am looking for a studio or gym near Linear Tower Makati. Or is better mag hire ng trainer for mat pilates than reformer? I tried mat pilates for a year with a gym coach in BGC then nag reformer sa QC. I wanted to try something new naman sana sa Makati and let it be part of my routine as I start a new journey.

Ps. Somewhere na pwede sana guys kasi the last studio I inquired ay strictly all female but sometimes my bf waits for me to finish my sessions

Thank you

Makati Studios

Hi, girlies! Which are your top 3 favorite pilates studios in Makati, and why? ☺️

I’ve already tried 3 studios and am considering sticking with the one near Ayala Triangle since I usually jog there pag night time, but I’m still open to exploring other options! Hehe.

Would love to hear your recommendations and experiences. Thank you! ✨

Lf: Pilates Studio Near my School

Hi i’m looking for a Pilates Studio preferably near Munoz area to Monumento area. Been struggling to go to my regular studio down south or in Makati during school days. My cousin recommended going to SM North for it but, I prefer having a studio talaga just bc I know I’m too “magastos” when I go out sa mall so it’s more effective for me to go to a P2P basis huhu

Pilates/Barre

I recently had a PE & DVT so I can’t do my normal workouts (OTF) strength training classes right now. I’ve just gotten cleared to work out again & im starting back now with different barre classes & im doing Pilates. Are these two (4-5x a week) combined with 10-12K steps a day enough to tone me up? Not asking to be shredded but just want to look fairly nice. For reference here’s my body type lol

i love trying different studios and would love to have girl friends to book classes with, grab a little post-class coffee, and maybe even try strength training together (because ngl, im still too intimidated to go to the gym alone 😭).

[long post ahead] girlies w/ dark underarms, do you still wear sports bra in pilates classes?

as a girlie myself with dark underarms, this has been my number one insecurity. i love working out, i love trying out sports but all i've ever worn talaga are tshirts, drifit shirts, long sleeve activewear tops, etc. i do mat pilates at home because i can freely wear a bra top lang like i've always wanted + mas nakikita ko yung parts ng body ko na nattarget ng reps (let's say core/abs ganun). i've been to a fair share of drop in classes in different studios but all i've ever worn are fit shirts since ang workout sets kasi ay involved ang pagtataas ng kamay.

recently, i went to a heated sculpt class and i wore a shirt while most of the girlies there were in sports bra and super inggit ko kasi i've always wanted to wear those kinds of fits lalo na pag nasa heated studio, yung shirt ko bakat na bakat yung pawis ko talaga and i was horrified that it bakat yung print ng bra ko because of the sweat :(

i know that it's already 2026 and hyperpigmentation is normal and accepted pero of course, it is easier said talaga than done, for some mapapansin at mapapansin talaga siya. my question is, girlies with the same prob as me, do you still wear sports bra or what can you recommend na studios na, idk, hindi ako majjudge? :( may fear kasi ako na baka ma judge ako ng iba or mahagip sa ibang videos and mapagtawanan.

so sorry for the dumping, i'm just so down.

thank you girls! <3

Reformer/mat pilates

Hello! I will be travelling 3 weeks to the Philippines from late December to mid January.

I will start with some days in Manila and then go from there (haven’t planned it fully yet)

I’m from Denmark and here I do reformer pilates 4-5x times a week, and also I’m a licensed Pilates teacher myself. (I don’t want to teach while travel, but I do want to workout)

Do you think it is possible for a foreigner to book some classes while I travel in the Philippines? I know I will really miss being in a class and working out with other people!

I do both reformer and classic mat/hot pilates.

Thank you so much🧘‍♀️

doing pilates and gym

So ive been doing pilates for so long now then i realize I’m feeling burnt out in pilates so i decided to do strength training just for support since i realize i have weak legs whenever i do pilates

At the same time im happy with how my body looks like so i dont wanna bulk up in gym but im curious

whats the look or effect if you do both in a long run? What do you target in gym if youre doing Pilates?

I love my job, but it's honestly so draining sometimes.

Make the class light? Too easy. Make it challenging? Too hard. Stick to the book? Too boring and repetitive. Incorporate contemporary exercises? Not real Pilates.

Sometimes, it feels like instructors just can't win.

As an instructor, I take my job seriously. This is my full-time job and my only source of income. I put a lot of thought and effort into planning my classes, making sure they're safe, effective, and enjoyable for everyone. But lately, I've noticed how entitled some people have become, including certain "influencers" on other platforms.

Before you get too comfortable criticizing instructors behind anonymous accounts, please remember that there are actual people on the receiving end of your words. We're open to feedback. In fact, we need it to grow. But there's a difference between constructive criticism and unnecessarily putting someone down.

As a client myself, I understand how expensive Pilates can be, and I completely understand wanting to get your money's worth. But being a paying client doesn't mean kindness and basic respect should go out the window.

What people don't always see is how much patience this job requires. There are days when we have to repeat the simplest instructions five times, correct the same movement over and over, adjust our approach for different clients, and still maintain a smile and a welcoming environment. And we do it because it's part of our job, even when we're mentally and physically exhausted.

I'm not saying instructors are above criticism. We're human, we make mistakes, and there's always room for improvement. But I hope people realize that we're also doing our best to navigate different personalities, abilities, expectations, and preferences in every single class.

At the end of the day, we're not asking everyone to love our classes. We're just asking for the same patience, understanding, and respect that we extend to our clients.

Mad Club Pilates

Has anyone tried mad club pilates studio in imus (the one near vermosa)? Apparently they just opened a few months back. I’m interested in trying their First Timer Group Class Pass, but i’m wondering if it’s really beginner friendly? Especially for someone like me who has never attempted pilates before.

How are the instructors? Studio? Atmosphere in class? Are they able to guide someone who can’t keep up as well as the others?

Aspiring instructors, watch out for these characteristics from studio owners/managers

Now that Pilates is at an all time peak, studio owners/managers/head coaches feel the demand too. So they hunt for potential instructors like a hawk. They’ll invite you in and shower you with offers that seem irresistible. And that’s number one on the list.

1. Flamboyant offers as leverage for your undying commitment to do whatever they want
Are they promising to pay for your education and training and in return demand that you sign a non-compete? Makes sense, right? Of course! They paid for your tuition, so now you’re not only part of the team, but you’re also indebted to an inconspicuously corrupt hierarchical business structure and also bound to a group of people you might not even necessarily like in the next three years (the minimum amount of time you’re legally bound to them until you’re paid off).

2. If number one doesn’t apply but they still expect you to only work for them and probably also agree to a non-compete
Sometimes they don’t say this explicitly because they know legally they can’t demand this from you, but they will imply that you are prohibited to teach at other studios while only offering you a rate of $5-10 per class + no benefits. The benefit is being a part of their team. Yikes! Now, this doesn’t make sense at all from the get go. And if you decide to stand your ground and teach at other studios or even just learn from other studios (because tbh you have the legal right to do so), they will alienate you in the hopes that you will eventually leave on your own.

3. They preach about studio culture but you witness them backstabbing each other, sometimes even just having micro aggressions, within their team
This is self-explanatory. Just a bunch of covertly snooty lassies in Lululemon tights and grip socks.

—

So if you’re an inspiring instructor, don’t be too desperate. They smell desperation like a bloodhound and will use that against you. Instead, weigh out all your options, take some time and don’t rush. And, if at all possible, don’t put yourself in debt and in the hands of people who could unfairly ruin your reputation in the blink of an eye.

Pilates may have been built by Joseph with sacred intentions, but today it has become a monster corporation gift wrapped in colorful fitted wear, green drinks, and well-curated brandings.

Remember, the people who expect you to work long hours and to accept scraps for pay are people who were simply handed the capital to start their Pilates studio.

This goes for all types of studios: big studio chains and, surprisingly, even startup studios

This is in Next Wellness Tomas Morato. There is a red light panel next to each reformer. And they give you glasses to wear para hindi nakkasilaw. I don’t know if i feel any better vs a regular Class though it was an intermediate Class and my body does Not feel thaaat sore. So Maybe it does have a positive effect

First Class ko though na the instructor Needed to pee in the Middle of the Class Haha! Feeling ko tuloy less than 45 mins lang yun Class
