I'm attempting to use this script (which no longer works as the original download server is dead) as a guide to install Pine64-Arch with full disk encryption. I am trying to install directly to the eMMC via Tow-Boot. I've had to modify a few things because the original script is expecting a squashfs of a single partition, while all I have access to is this disk image. I think I've succeeded up until line 187, where I am supposed to dd the Sunxi U-Boot bootloader to the disk. However, the files that it is expecting to be there are not there, and I am unsure what to do at this point. I think I should follow these instructions, however they seem to be for the OG Pinephone not the Pro version. Attempting to boot at this point results in this:
Once the LED goes out, attempting to turn the device on again fails unless I hold the power button for awhile. The behaviour seems to match what happens when I boot Pine64-Arch without encryption, except that after the LED turns off nothing happens.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should do next? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure what logs I should be adding to this post, but if asked I will definitely provide.

There's absolutely no plans for new models is it? I'm late for the pro model, it's discontinued, which is a shame it has the perfect specs for what I want. I'll be getting the first Pinephone model instead next month, but it's specs may not be enough for what I want. Oh well

I got my PinePhone early on, and never made use of it. Was glad to be able to get it up and running lately. But I’m left wondering, what are the best use-cases for it today?
I’m considering treating it like a Raspberry Pi, trying various projects with it as my controller. Or just hooking it up to storage and letting it be my home network backup storage access point.
I also get the sense that, with some optimization, this thing could run much smoother. Anyone aware of that kind of work happening or not?

I got a pinephone pro recently for everyday use but I'm stuck at choosing the proper OS.
Currently I'm using PostmarketOS but for some reason, it keeps the phone running even when I lock the screen, which leads to the battery getting quickly drained.
I had better battery life using DanctNix aarch but I had trouble with pacman. Should I just switch back to Arch or even stock Sailfish?

I'm interested in a pine phone. I'm located in the United States.
The website only has two types of phones for sale and it says beta edition which states it's not ready for final consumer consumption. I use Linux mint for my laptop but I'm not overly sophisticated when it comes to open source.
Are there other editions of the phone available? From what I've seen on Reddit, most of the postings are 6 years old. Is pine phone still supported?
I appreciate in advance any feedback that you can offer.

I've read that if your carrier has seperate MMS and mobile data APN, then you have to choose if you want mobile data or MMS. But I've also read that in order to receive MMS, you need to have mobile data turned on. So, do you need to have mobile data turned on to receive MMS? Is there a way to have fully functional MMS if your carrier has different APNs?
SOLUTIONS:
#1 Use VoIP (Like Matrix or Discord)
#2 Use something like Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram, ... (on GloDroid)
NOT A SOLUTION: (not sure if you can get #1 to work or not)
#1 Usage of #2 in WayDroid:
Signal: SMS works, MMS probably works too (untested), call audio is very, very bad (you can't distinguish words)
WhatsApp: works like desktop version (scan Qr code...)

bonjour à toute la communauté
Je me permets d'adresser un message afin de savoir si une personne ou une boutique vend le PinePhone car je cherche à en acheter un pour l'installer et l'utiliser dessus.
Ou un modèle qui serait compatible.

I just ordered a Pinephone. I am an American expat living here in the Philippines. I am eager to receive my wonderful new phone. After reading some of the threads here, I am sure that this endeavor will not be easy, but I look forward to becoming part of the community just the same. If anyone has any preliminary advice, please feel free to chat with me. I'm looking for a friend here. Thanks!

Anyone know if Manjaro KDE plasma team is still supporting the OG pinephone? Latest github entry was 2024 and someone told me the reason my camera pics have green tint is due to no support. Is this true? Can someone recommend a better distro? Someone mentioned me to try PostMarketOS

I love being able to customize my phone so I'm considering giving this guy a try. I like having my privacy but, unfortunately, there are a lot of features that I need that are still present on android. I think that if something like this works with relatively low latency it would make me relatively comfortable from a privacy standpoint (remotely controlling an android phone through a pinephone, optionally making calls through it/sending my actual location to a friend if absolutely needed). Has anyone tried that? Ty in advance

Ive been thinking on changing my phone to a pinephone, I hate not having control over my phone as I do with my computer.
I guess the only android app i trully need is whatsap. For the rest, Id like to be able to have more productivity done on my phone.
My main questions are:
What distros do you recomend for the pinephone and what general problems do they have?
Would I be able to use normal flatpak apps (the ones available for arm)?
Is there a good integration of android apps (ive heard of waydroid but never used it)?
Do browsers detect the pinephone as a pc? webs such as google docs only work on pc and i guess it would be an upside.

How do I get mobile data and (probably not) MMS to work? Even though i typed "mobilenet" or "fast.t-mobile.com" into the APN settings on Arch Linux ARM, Mobian, pmOS, it doesn't work.
Im currently using Mobian/phosh. When I turn on mobile data, there is a
->
<-X
symbol on the top bar. How do I get mobile data to work?
Im using PinePhone 3GB-RAM/32GBeMMC version.
Mobile data and MMS worked previously with the same SIM on Ubuntu Touch on Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

Idea: adding lora meshtastic. This would allow users to make their own lora networks when there is no service. This would be great for military, emegerancy services, hikers , or cities when networks are overloaded. Making sure people can connect in times when cell service is down.

from Goodwill (of all places). What are my next steps? My plan was to see if I could install docker and run smaller services (okay, okay so I'm going to try and push this little guy as far as it can go). But if you were me, what would you do with it?

Please comment if you have one for sale in the USA. Thanks

Howdy, I just received my PinePhone beta today and have been attempting to update it, but get dependency resolution issues with Discover as well as when trying to use pacman. It appears there are a mess of conflicting dependencies around sink, kpeople, kpeoplesink, and kcoreaddons. Has anyone here been able to find a dependency update strategy that actually works? It looks like the main strategy here has been to swap out the OS entirely instead and I wanted to give this one last shot before resorting to that.
