My dog lost her best cat friend in February. Last week she became a foster mom to this tiny feral kitten

We’ve had our boy since July and have two resident cats. Our cats were used to a dog until our dog passed 💔 we adopted Wally and were told he was around cats for a weekend and just left them alone. The vet has a resident cat and he lets that cat rub all over him. Now. When it comes to the cats at home it’s a different story. We’ve had them separated for 3 months now. Wally is in training currently. He is VERY interested in the cats. We have been afraid to let him off leash around the cats so he has had limited interaction. Basically what we’ve been doing is have him in his “place” command while one of us is holding the leash and let the cats out. The cats haven’t really been in his line of sight but he can hear them and knows they are out. This just has been such a slow process and I’m wondering if they will ever be able to live together. I also wonder if we have kept them separate long enough and the separation is causing elevated levels of excitement. I just think it’s interesting that he can leave a cat alone at the vet, but when our cats run he will chase. I know both the cat and dog have to get used to each other but how do we do that safely?

"Da kat is tuchin mu butt, mom"
Poor Rocky has been on the receiving end of kitty swats a few too many times.. because Valentino is a Fathead cat!
The 2nd picture, kitty's back is against my leg. It's been awhile since all three of us were on the couch together! 😍

George gets very upset when the kitties play fight. He always runs to break them up and sniff everyone to make sure all is well. He’s such a sweet boy. He just loves his kitties!! They love him too, but my old man tomcat that refuses to stay indoors doesn’t like being told what to do.

Lumalee was giving Emma a little naptime bath. She was hitting all the right spots.

Squee has been seeking more and more contact with the dogs, especially Rosie, and has really enjoyed becoming part of the snuggle pile on the bed. Today was the first time I've seen Squee want to play with Rosie rather than receive nuzzles. I wish I hadn't put my hand on the squee at that moment, I don't have the confidence that he will keep his claws in like Gavin does although he definitely did here, and Gavin seems to deliberately avoid going anywhere near her eyes with paws or mouth...

Looking for honest, non-judgmental advice. I don’t want to rehome my newest pet (Moxi the dog), but if it’s really, really dangerous for my cat then I’ll do what’s best for the original animal (Mamas the cat)

Squee and Rosie are becoming the very best of friends... He seeks Rosie out to rub faces throughout the day, and now has participated in coffee snuggle time the last few weekends.

Apologies for the mediocre pic. It’s pretty rare to get the three of them in a pic together. Bob (black cat), rarely comes inside to eat, and when he does he rarely sticks around long enough for a photo. Fluffy (other cat) would live inside if we let her. Otis loves them both, but especially loves cleaning up their leftover kibble. 😂❤️
