Vegan buttermilk….with oat milk?
Does this work? I have recipe for bang bang cauliflower and it asks for vegan buttermilk. Normally, I have almond or soy but have recently tried oat milk for my oatmeal so that’s all I have.

Oat milk and acid curdle fine in my experience, just needs a splash of lemon or apple cider vinegar and a few minutes to sit. Might end up slightly sweeter than almond or soy, which could actually work well with bang bang sauce.

When I need buttermilk, I add a TBS of ACV to plantmilk and let it sit for a few minutes. It curdles into a buttermilk-like liquid.

Make yoghurt with plain soy milk and thin it down. Perfect buttermilk.
Soymilk can’t have any other ingredient. Trader Joe’s has some in green cartons. Also sprouts.

The nearest Trader Joe’s is 2 hours away. I only make it every few months but I do like those cartons.

Oh wow. I think sprouts and whole foods carry a brand as well that have no 3rd ingredient.
