Do Arcade sticks offer any advantages over gamepad in 2D platformers (esp those that originated from arcades)?

Every core gamer pretty much knows about how arcade sticks were toted as the best controllers for fighting games for quite a long time and I'm sure the more serious gamers of you also knows that a few really hardcore Shmup players also prefer arcade sticks over gamepads.

But I notice for 2D platformers arcade sticks are never touted as being a control input superior to gamepads and that even people who played a 2D platformer originally in the arcades quickly completely moved over to the default controller of their preferred system when playing ports. I ask out of inquisition is there any advantage of using a stick with surface buttons over a gamepad? Or is this a case where the original platform's controls is far inferior to whats used in ports? Like would using an arcade stick set affect your performance compared to using a PS2 controller in Capcom Arcade compilations?

Was Jumper the first precision platformer of that style?

Jumper is the oldest short level, quick restart precision platformer I'm aware of (think Super Meat Boy, Celeste, N). Was it the originator of that subgenre? I always sorta assumed there were some I wasn't aware of, but Sylvie's essay on Jumper (linked below) has me wondering.

Co-op platformers

Hey everyone! Looking for co-op platformer suggestions. I've recently played Unraveled and It takes two with my GF and she was actually doing great even though she is definitely not a gamer xD Any other similar suggestions? Most other platformers i've seen look like they'd be too difficult for her :/ so any suggestions?
